I wanted to love it, but...I don't even think they should be calling themselves a pub. They only serve sandwiches (some hot) and a skimpy sides (like plain rice) for $18. Decent food, but ridiculously overpriced. And what pub doesn't have a basic burger and fries? This one. $8 for a pretzel and pickle? Seriously? No hard ciders either. The food I have had (tomato soup and lamb sandwich have both had overbearing garlic or onion aftertaste. I've been in 3 times. The first time at 7:45, but it took the staff 15 minutes to tell us they ran out of food and closed the kitchen. The other 2 times they also were out of some dishes, even at 6pm. And they don't bother to cross it off the chalk board menu. Order at the counter and they bring it to you. Inside is pretty noisy. Outside is ok, but right next to the parking lot. read more

Previously a fine dining establishment, we were dubious about going back as they morphed to a pub. But were surprised and delighted by the food, service and ambiance. It still has an old feel (the building was built in the late 1800s), is simply, but comfortably decorated, and cathedral food was fabulous! The is a foodies' delight! Hubby had a vegetarian pita sandwich with cream of asparagus bisque soup and I had a shredded lamb pita sandwich with warm 6-bean salad. The food was wonderful!!!! Really wonderful! It's so nice to get something different than the average fair offered everywhere else. They offer about 8 brews on tap; nothing to write home about but a decent selection. They also have a small but nice selection of wine. I was impressed to see a Viognier offered (it was lovely). And yes, the food here is more costly than a burger joint, but you get what you pay for. Everything is hand-made, including the bread and it tastes like it! We will definitely be going back to try the other menu items. Can't wait. read more

Ok so I am not one of those people that writes good reviews or bad ones. That being said, this place BLEW MY MIND! We walked in expecting to get a beer and head home. As soon as we walked in we were hit with an amazing aroma. "I guess we could have dinner here and eat what we had planned for tonight tomorrow?" So we orders the butternut squash soup as a starter. Dear lord, it was phenomenal. We also ordered the Mac n cheese as a starter. It was also above and beyond your normal Mac n cheese. My husband ordered the ny steak sandwich, unfortunately they were out so he ended up with the same thing that I ordered which was the pork belly banhmi. Let me tell you, neither of us were disappointed. The sandwich was so darn good! We had the garlic mashed potatoes and OMG. Everything was amazing! I was driving home and stopped at Lotus Pub around 5:30 PM. I tried the Lamb, it was outstanding and more than I could eat. My friend had the Grilled Cheese Sandwich which I tasted, great bread and lots of yummy cheese. We both enjoyed the Tomato Basil Soup. I will definitely go back and try other delicious choices on their menu. The wine was perfect and a nice selection. Great casual feel, warm and inviting and not stuffy. read more

This is such a good pub. There are so many selections of beer/wine. I have never had such a good pretzel in my life! 11/10 I love it here.

We are locals and have enjoyed visiting the Lotus Pub a few times. I always get the lamb, it is so good! The wait for food is a bit longer than you would expect, but we have found the weekend cook is a bit quicker than the week day cook. Either way, enjoy a beer or wine and enjoy the beautiful old building in Gold Country! We will definitely return. read more

We tried this again and again disappointed in the food selection, price, service and quality. This place is either a "pub" with more "pub food" or a fancy restaurant. The ravioli had more of an enchilada sauce vs. a lighter tomato sauce. The chicken dish had more of a heavy burgundy sauce. The building is beautiful, the patio is lit nicely and the staff are nice, so I hate to give a bad review but I mostly want them to have feedback so maybe they can adjust their model and succeed in a location that has very few dining options. Very overpriced food for what you get. $18 for a sandwich, no sides. Not a very inspiring food selection. We were informed on both visits that food would be 45 minutes to an hour wait, which seems really long for sandwiches or Mac and cheese especially since it wasn't crowded. We are locals and really wanted to like this place but the expensive food, awkward ordering and long waits made it unpleasant. It doesn't really feel like a pub, which would be great in this area. A suggestion to them- maybe switch to gormet burgers that come with fries (or sweet potato fries!) for $17 a plate, get another cook or a more streamlined cooking system and you would get some very loyal customers. read more

I'm so devastated with this place. I loved cafe mahjaic and hoped it would at least be similar. Instead it's overpriced and terrible service. I just waited 45 minutes for a soup and grilled cheese. The soup was bland and boring. I dumped salt and pepper on it so I could eat some. My dad ordered a beer 30 minutes ago and still hasn't received it. What a let down. I truly hope the owners close this place and reimagine something better and reopen. read more

We just had dinner here for the first time.. I don't get all the bad reviews! Yes.. it might take a little longer to get your food, but have a drink and relax. This is country life up here! The one star is for the excellent food and nice man behind the ? bar (not really a bar as have to go order a drink in the food line). No printed menu, food board written poorly and difficult to understand. Board is placed near front door which creates a slow moving line out the door. No explanation as to how to order or how to negotiate the menu. Very expensive for a restaurant with minimal service and only offering "pub" food. Very expensive for sandwiches and everything else they have on their menu. $18 for a basic blt (and oddly they won't add avocado even though it's on other sandwiches even for an extra charge). The sandwich was not a large portion for the price and I ordered the rice side which had no flavor. Way Way overpriced. $18.00 for a turkey sandwich that was not even very good-really. Not many items to choose from on the menu, which are mostly all above $18.00. Only a couple of wines to choose from (chardonnay I had was terrible at 12.00 a glass) and about 6 or 7 beers most of which were IPAs (not great for a lager drinker). A pub is supposed to be a fun affordable place to go in the neighborhood. This place is far from fun and affordable. I'd give 0 stars, but there is no option for that. read more

I wanted to like it, we need a decent restaurant in our community. I LOVED Café Majaic. How could it go wrong with the same chef owner? 20 dollar sandwiches that are all bread- tough bread. Inside sandwiches is nothing special and not much of it. I made the mistake of ordering the pork belly sandwich, enticed by the cilantro and other condiments. The meat was mostly gristle and fat. Completely inedible. I ate the side, a bean salad. Woke up on and off all night drinking water. Must have been super salty. On the plus side it still has a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, I will not eat there again. Too bad. read more

The wonderful Chef/Owner of the Lotus Pub roasts ALL meats and bakes all of the bread products (pitas, pretzels, rolls) served daily. The quality of the food served is easily worth the price. The Ban Mihn sandwich is beyond compare. Chef John's particialur combination of dry rub spices is ingenious. Guests order at the counter and should not expect table service. read more

While we loved Cafe Mahjaic, we had hoped Lotus Pub would be as good at least....same owners. We like the new bar and table booths...a bit more comfy in their historic building. The chalk board/order as you enter is awkward. At least offer a paper menu and have a chance to review without a crowd gathering behind you at the door. It was okay for lunch type pub food - mostly sandwiches, but they only open for dinner after 4p four nights a week. My husband loved the pork sandwich with one exception...the meat needed to be sliced much thinner. It was a bit difficult to eat. I had the turkey sandwich. It was very flavorful but also difficult to eat on such thick rolls. Potato salad was more sauce than potatoes....just cut back a bit. We will try it again with hopes that all the reviews to date will be taken into consideration and changes will be made. The location is too good to not make the food and service better. And please, please bring back the saganaki! While it's not really "pub" food it would make a nice addition. More than one up-front person is definitely needed, too. Good luck! read more
