The Coloma Club is a diner with a ton of character in a remarkably rural spot between Auburn and Placerville in the foothills just outside of Sacramento. You'll sit between Coloma locals, motorcycle tourists, river guides and river runners in a building which has seen a lot over the years. (Just check the picture section). The food was diner food. Not pretentious or over-wrought, but capably prepared and it hit the spot on that cold Fall morning before we ran the American River. If you're looking for crepes, a fresh fruit and yoghurt bowl or gravy made from scratch this might not be your destination. But for a comfortable meal in a great setting surrounded by an eclectic mix of people you'll be stoked. read more

Went on the cafe side. Parking was full due to everyone on the bar side!!! It was a hot day! Only lunch menu was available during dinner due to the heat. Poor chef. I feel for u! I got a steak sandwich. The fries were delicious! I love how they put the mayo on the side! The rest of my party doesn't like mayo so I grabbed all theirs! Ketchup and mustard on the table. As a visitor, I felt very welcomed at both the diner AND the bar side. Diner- Sweet server that took our order and brought our dishes. I am a chili lover and they have a marvelous BEEF AND BEANS that is filling and happy making even though it's a warm 90 degrees outside! Bar- A real LOCAL bar! I think we were the odd one here but everyone knew everyone here and best of all, they bring their DOGS! Bartender super friendly and they have a full bar. 4 beers on tap. Pool tables. There is an outdoor bar and seating area. There are events on different nights. A real slice of the surrounding area. Love love love. read more

Nice hole in the wall dive bar! They had a pool table ($1 per game) and food and drinks. It's close to a few campgrounds in the area which is why we dropped in. Alot of locals hang out here and they allowed dogs inside. Food was good, drinks were good and service was good. We had a burger and fries (fries were yummy!) and our friend had the ribeye which he said was very good. The bartender didn't give me an itemized bill at the end, just gave me a total. We stopped here for breakfast and were not disappointed. The waitress was very friendly and led us to the patio where we wanted to sit. Lovely environment with tons of plants. I ordered an omelette and my husband ordered eggs with corn beef hash. Both were huge and delicious. We would definitely stop here again if we're in the area. read more

We came in for dinner at 6:30 to discover they were out of nearly all the dinner items. No roast beef, no fried chicken, no liver, no pasta and so forth. The salad is lettuce, beat slices, cucumber and chopped tomato- costs extra to have instead of French fries if you're getting a burger or sandwich. I didn't like any of this so ended with plain chopped iceburg lettuce. I gave 3 stars hoping my grilled chicken with mushrooms dinner will make up for the other disappointment-- hold up as I'm typing ...they have no veggies to go with my dinner. So out of dinner options at 6:35 on a Sunday. We were told we will be the last 'dinner'. My husband's roast beef was reported out after we placed the order so he ended up with a burger. The chicken is dry with dry mushrooms- gross. I've had better food from a frozen dinner. Even my husband who will eat nearly anything would not eat it- spit out his bite. Don't come here if you're looking for dinner after 5 Or if you want more than bar food I guess. read more

Stopped by after rafting for a nice big meal and it was a great decision. The waitress was quick and super friendly. Portion sizes were amazing for the price and everything was delicious. We got burgers and steak. The kitchen did mess up one of our orders but they got it fixed and the right food out so fast it wasn't an issue at all. Stopped in awhile back and both of us enjoyed our meals. I had pork chops and they were yummy. Guest had the liver and onions and raved over it. I tried it and agreed. Next time I tried the chicken fried steak, guest again got the liver and onions which again I had to taste. Now we both are craving the liver and onions, but myself I have got to get that chicken fried steak again. Not sure why such negative reviews, It's diner food but tastes like really homemade good stuff. Ok the 1 star is for the bar. Seems to be a good lil bar. The breakfast was awful. The homemade country fried steak was anything but homemade. It was so over cooked it was damn near burned. The scrambled eggs were literally killed on the grill. Hash browns were fine. The bisquits are very good. But when I see someone else trying to cut the same steak I have and they need a chainsaw? I know its routine bad cooking. I did see some bloody marys come out of the bar, they looked pretty good. read more

I've been eating at the Coloma Cub for about 30 years now. Mind you, it's never been great food. But the last few decades, it's always been dependable--hot, brown, and plenty of it. The last three times I've eaten there it was disgusting. The food was poorly made, and it was obviously old food stock cooked in a kitchen that hasn't been cared for in years. I think they said it best in the movie Deadpool: it's like one avocado hate-fu#king another avocado. That's a good description of my patty melt tonight. read more

Food was ok. Service was terrible. 6 of us at a table so she served everything at one end of the table instead to each of us. She couldn't hear one woman's order so instead of moving closer she just said "I can't hear you". She collected 4 of the bills but ignored the last two. So tempted to just walk out... but paid the bill, no tip of course & hope to never set foot in there again. She needs to find a job she can handle. Their customer service is terrible. I went in at 11:25am and asked for a club sandwich and they said they didn't serve lunch until noon. There was literally 4 cars there and the table I could see was already eating. I said I would take hash browns with the club they already have toast and bacon for breakfast. So just needed some turkey and lettuce and tomato. The cook refused to do it. So I smiled and said ok and left. I've been to this place a million times and they always were nice and accommodating. Whoever is in charge now are rude and definitely not how people treat others in the mountains. SMH read more

So I haven't yet been to the Cafe side of the Columa Club, but I've been into the nighttime pub a couple of times and it's a lot of fun. Granted, there aren't many other options around, but even if there were, I imagine we'd still end up here most of the time if we lived in the area. This bar has great music, but not playing so loud you can't hear one another; 2 pool tables, separated in two different rooms so youre not tripping over one another; a nice patio and huge backyard area behind it; and, most importantly, terrific bartenders. We were there last Saturday night after a two-day rafting trip with Action Whitewater Adventures. We've come up to Coloma many summers and rafted with several companies, but regardless of who takes us on the water, we quench our thirst afterward at this little gem of a bar. I wish I had caught the bartenders name - he said mine almost every time I ordered the rounds for our group of 5. I love when a bartender remembers your name and your order throughout the night. If i could give this shit hole zero stars i would, don't get me wrong the food and drinks are mediocre, nothing to ride home about. but the 1 star goes towards how they treat their staff, especially the ones who have been their for years. the manager fired my mother (the cook) who's been there for at least 7 years, over something that should MAYBE result in a write up. i've been in the industry for years and have managed a restaurant, i would NEVER treat someone who is so loyal to me and my business like that. good luck finding someone to replace my mother, who's slaved her ass away in that kitchen for years. read more

We have been here for dinner and breakfast. Both were great. Portions are generous and food is good. If you get a pancake, it will be the size of your head. The coffee is strong and good. Highly recommend the corned beef hash. Burgers are great for dinner. read more

Stopped in for a drink on Christmas Eve before hitting an friends open-house gathering up Hwy 49 a few miles (we had some time to kills). Walked in and the memories started flowing. It's been a few years since we've been here. When we lived in the area, we frequented Coloma Club frequently. The crowd is almost always respectful. You'll find locals here and in the spring/summer there are lots of rafters that drift in during their stay at local campgrounds. There's always at least one jerk in the crowd, right? On this night we found a bubbly super cute bartender. I wish we'd gotten her name - she deserves some recognition and kudo's. She did a fine job of opening my Corona and definitely worked to accommodate my wife's booze-of-the-moment. She produced a fabulous lemon drop - one to be proud of. A couple of pool tables here - one off to the side of the main bar area and one around the corner in a more secluded platform spot just off the dance floor. I remember there being an outdoor area (we didn't venture outside this night). There were about 10-15 peeps spending some time here and all seemed in great spirits (not literally ... well, maybe literally). This is the most disgusting place I've ever eaten. The restaurant smells horrible, the furniture pieces are lumpy hard leather things they call seating (??) The servers hands and nails are dirty and they are all super rude. SOMEBODY CALL THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT!! The food is fried nastiness. Fish n chips are right out of a VandeKamps box (wait no, VandeKamps is better) and the "chips" are overcooked dark brown fries. And the bathrooms are the worst! My skin was crawling and we should have left but we were so hungry we obviously would eat anything. There wont be a second visit. I can tell you that for sure! read more

This is a gem in Coloma. We originally went for drinks and it was too hot for us to go elsewhere for dinner. It's divey but it was cool and they had the Dodgers game on. We ordered a side salad, zucchini sticks and a club sandwich. All were fantastic! The salad was crisp, the sticks were fresh and it was one of the best club sandwiches I've had in a while! It was so good, we went back the next day after our rafting excursion. Hubby had the miner this time which was amazing! They make their own potato salad and coleslaw too. It has the feel of a locals spot but there were super nice ladies working the bar and kitchen who made us feel welcome. If we visit again, we'll be back! read more
