Not sure where to start here but here goes. We were seated and sat there for 10 minutes. Person came over to take order and I said can we have menus ? Mind blown. All downhill from there. Out of noodles. No chow meins which is another shocker considering it is a specialty based on menu offering 5+ variation. I asked which Chinese chicken dish had assortment of vegetables. They didn't know and returned to tell me the "chicken with vegetables". Had vegetables. Um ok I read that on the menu but everything listed was nonndescriotive and I had no idea the difference between this restaurants version of Szechuan, generals, kung pao etc chicken dishes. Basically server had no clue what was on the menu or even ability tone of assistance. I ordered the general chicken that was supposed to be hot it had no heat and no sauce worth noting. Nor any rice. Nice batter though. My son ordered sushi and had to eat it with a fork because the roll fell apart with chop sticks. Yes he knows how to use them. Sushi was low grade and some was fishy tasting One of my other cohorts had to wait 30-40 minutes after first entree was served before they received their food. Slow unprofessional staff and poor food preparation and quality. Will not be back anytme soon. read more

Lotus Chinese restaurant is really good. We had it for the first time today. We got the Wor Won Ton Soup with shrimp, kung poa chicken, and a small order of white rice. The Wor Won Ton had a delicious broth, and lots of fresh vegetables. It had noodles in it, which I have never had before in Wor Won Ton but it was really tasty. The Kung pao chicken had white chicken meat, fresh crunchy vegetables, and a lots of peanuts. I appreciate that they use white chicken meat. The owner was very friendly and the restaurant was really nice and clean. The food wasn't bad in price if you are on a budget. We will definitely return for more! read more

Arrived at 20 minutes and was told it'd be sone shortly only to still be waiting 46 minutes later. Finally, after constantly being told it'd be done shortly, I asked for my money back and will never return again. Best Chinese food in Ukiah. Potstickers are small but very tasty. We also enjoyed the Kung Pow (wrong spelling). Mushu veggies also quite yummy but the pancake part was from a package and dried out. Interior of restaurant is super retro and in great shape. Fun place to re-visit if you haven't been in years --which was my situation. Same owners for 30 years but I think they got some of the cooks from other Asian restaurants that folded in the past few years. read more

Service is a little slow but both sever and chef are very sweet. The wonton soup is prepared different then we are use to but very good. We also had general chicken, sweet & sour pork and chicken chow main which were all delicious. The environment is pretty and very quiet. There was a dirty spoon out of us three and a lot of water spots on glassware partnered with slow service gives it the four stars or this would have been five stars! Easy improvements! read more

This place is good! The best General's Chicken I have had in a while! I have had a General's Chicken at nearly every Chinese food restaurant I have ever been to and this was some of the best. The chicken was crispy and hot. The sauce never had a chance to soften it. Even toward the end of our meal the chicken was still crisp. NOTE: I did get General's Chicken to go one time and ended up with soggy breading so eat this in the restaurant just as it is cooked. The sushi was satisfying. Basic in appearance, but tasty. I enjoyed the purple cabbage and cucumber. Not overly sauced like so many others. The sushi chef takes his time to make fresh rolls. If you are looking for some good Chinese food and tasty sushi, stop into Lotus. A small family business worth a visit! read more

Open until 10p every day and they make a very good (if overly salty) mu shu pork. In this town that's about as good as 5 stars you're gonna get! I'm taking off a star because hot tea is gonna cost you $1.25, that was quite a surprise in a basic Chinese (and Japanese) restaurant. Friendly FOB service and clean place too. I would describe it more as 3.5 stars honestly but I would rather round up for them because they've been here a long time and they've never let me down. Long overdue since it's been awhile and am sorry for no pics just take out but you will find the best sushi here as well as all main courses are just beautiful and delicious. I don't know when they redid the main dining area but it's lovely and quite an upgrade from what it used to be. A good place to go to if you happen to be craving Asian foods. Between Lotus and Oco Time, I'll say Oco Time has better sushi but not by a lot. However, if you want to have more separate rolls ordered, this place is better for that situation because their rolls are more affordable than Oco Time's since their rolls aren't as big. I've had their teriyaki chicken once and I definitely liked it. A place I could see myself coming back to again one of these days when I visit my home area. read more

This is our favorite Chinese food option locally, but they also do a nice job with their Japanese menu. What I appreciate most about this place is how fresh the ingredients are - you can tell the vegetables weren't frozen before being cooked and they make everything to order. And they don't have sushi 100% of the time, just when they have fresh fish, which I admire: they will only serve you the best. I always say its quality vs quanity however i always have more than enough. When i go out to eat I want a meal prepared better than that which I can prepare myself. Folks! This is your place. We love the spider sushi, Ukiah Roll, the Alaskan and Californian actually there isnt one we havent enjoyed. My other recommendation is the Teriyaki Chicken on the lunch menu. Ukiah is a barren wasteland for good Asian food. Lotus however is a solid option if you have a hankering for something of the Asian persuasion. What's interesting about this place is that it has the fairly typical dishes you would see at any standard Chinese restaurant, but it also has a sushi menu that has a curiously Chinese flair. I ordered the shrimp chow mein which was about as decent as you are going to get in these parts, as well as the Fatter and Fatter roll. The sauces presented with this particular roll, were not your typical unagi sauce and sriracha. They were paler than either one of those...not saying that is bad, just different. The service was friendly, but a little slow. Not a bad thing either, as I was not in a hurry. It appears as though it may be a husband and wife team running the place and both were pleasant. Overall, I would absolutely consider dining here again when I don't feel like heading down to Santa Rosa for other Asian options. read more

Pretty decent food for the price. We don't eat Chinese much, but this place hit the spot. The Almond Chicken was so yummy, my 1.5 year old was eating more of it than me and my husband! I had my husband try veggie tempura, and he really liked it. We got the dinner combination, and had leftovers for days. I give it a four star in a small town like Ukiah. In a bigger city, this place would be a three star. The Chinese food is passable. Nothing particular great but generally authentic. What impress me is that among all the restaurants that do fusion of Chinese and Japanese foods, their Japanese food is quite good. I think what is drawing them back is the presentation and atmosphere. They really should spend some money on decoration. On the other hand, the service are quite friendly. After chatting with the owner, I found that he is actually a surgeon from China. He came to US as a visiting scholar at UCSF. What an interesting world. read more
