Some of the very best tavern style pizza you will ever find. From the sauce, cheese, perfectly thin and crispy crust to the sausage. Cannot wait to go back to Vito & Nicks! Service was fast and friendly. Awesome simple atmosphere, with incredible pizza..no wonder this place has been around for over 100 years!! Amazing!

The environment was so fun and unique! And the food was great! Definitely recommend! Good place to go as a family and share!

Loved the pizza and the apps here and the service was quick and attentive. The jalapeño poppers were made well and perfectly crispy. We ordered a plain cheese pizza and a hot giardiniera pizza and both were crispy and delicious.

Such a classic Chicago spot! Came here with some friends since we all heard such great things! The thin crust pizza was perfectly crispy with great flavor, and you can really tell why this place has been a local favorite for so many years. The atmosphere is casual and old-school in the best way, and the service was friendly. It's definitely a cool little spot to check out!

I finally got to try the infamous Nick & Vito's and it did not disappoint. I'd absolutely go back again. The old-school Chicago vibes were perfect, something you just don't find outside the city. It felt like home to me from Someone who lived out of state. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the food was solid, and it wasn't overly crowded when we went, which made for a relaxed experience. There was convenient parking outside, and it appeared to be wheelchair accessible, with comfortable table heights and a spacious women's restroom. As someone who loves tavern-style pizza, I was especially happy with the classic thin crust--it totally hit the spot. A great Chicago staple worth checking out.

Oh how I missed this south side staple. I lived on the south south side most of my childhood and h.s. days. Pizza is always the same. Waitress was so very nice and attentive. Pizza came out fast and was eaten even faster. Love the cracker crust with so much flavor!! The ambiance was just as I remembered 30 yrs ago!! If you get a chance yo visit please do!!

Very disappointed, pizza was well done and burned edges. Totally changed the taste. Looked around at other tables and others were fine. Did offer a discount which was appreciated. $13 pitcher of soda??? Really???

Going to this pizza place was something I'd been wanting to do for a while (okay... weeks). I knew the business had been around for over 100 years, and based on the photos I'd seen, that thin crust looked perfect. So, my husband and I finally went, and it's exactly the kind of old-school, retro-style restaurant you'd expect. But let's talk about the pizza... it was heaven. Thin, crispy, flavorful, nothing else compares. And the service super friendly and attentive. Everyone seriously needs to try this place at least once. You won't regret it.

Supposedly one of, if not THE best tavern-style pizza places? My companion remarked the crust tasted like Domino's thin crust. The pizza was just okay at the restaurant (parm and pepper did some heavy lifting, cheese and toppings felt very bland) but *somehow* tasted much better as leftovers at home after getting blasted in the airfryer. Strange indeed. Good price though, I suppose. Service was fine. We went for a late lunch and there was just one lady running around as the place started getting busy. Ambiance is nothing to speak of, really. Old chairs and booths, some colored lights--quaint, quiet. I liked it but I don't need to come back.

Vito & Nick's Pizzeria - Chicago Cracker-thin crust perfection. Ordered a large cheese pizza with green peppers, onions, and mushrooms and every bite was LOADED with flavor. Fresh cheese, fresh toppings, crazy aroma--straight up addictive. Classic hole-in-the-wall vibes with real Chicago history. Super relaxed, no frills, all flavor. Cash only, but 100% worth it. If you love thin-crust pizza done right, this spot is elite. Classic Chicago tavern pizza

Old School Chicago style Pizza The vibes took me back to when Mayor Daley was in office. Except the shag carpet isn't on the floor, but on the walls. The decor, the tables, the awkwardly close urinals in the men's restroom, RC cola. Everything was what I expected. We ordered 2 pizzas and some apps not pictured. The apps came fresh out the fryer. Definitely recommend waiting a few minutes when it hits the table. Cheddar jalapeño poppers and mushrooms are classic and served with both ranch and marinara. Both Pizzas were delish! The cracker crust was crispy and the perfect vehicle for cheese and toppings. Cut into squares, easily shared: literally we ate and left no crumb. I think the sausage was my favorite and I would order it again with the peppers and onions. The giardiniera was not as hot as we would've liked, and I think I rather have it fresh than baked to keep that crisp texture. Staff were polite and on point. Refills were prompt and they have plenty of alcohol options as well for a more potent potable than that delectable RC cola. Make sure you look left when you exit parking since it's off a 4 lane, but the road was quiet for a Saturday afternoon. Cash only

This trip to Chicago involved us trying tavern style pizza. We did our research and decided Vito and Nick's was the place to try. Definitely old school vibes here, but don't let that scare you away. The pizza was really good. Crispy squares loaded with sausage, mushrooms, onions and peppers. The crust itself felt like cracker thin. Seriously crunchy. I enjoyed the flavorful sauce and the freshness of all the ingredients. Friendly service....a definite must try location when visiting Chicago.

Normally I hate those kinds of large group dinners, but this was the perfect spot for it. The service was absolutely wonderful. If you have seen any of my other reviews, I always get a meatball when I'm at a place that has them. They almost never live up to my expectation. But this place has the new gold standard for a meatball. It was everything you want. It is fork tender, full of flavor, no chewy ground up bits. The pizzas were authentic and thin. It's one of those places that you find yourself talking about long after the meal is over. The garlic bread alone is worth the visit. They pour what feels like a gallon of garlic butter over it, and somehow it's still never enough. It's rich, indulgent, and absolutely delicious. We order it every single time and would probably be disappointed if we didn't. The real star of the show, though, is the lasagna. Between the two of us, we've had lasagna at countless restaurants, and nothing has come close to this one. It's hands down the best lasagna we've ever had. Perfect layers, incredible flavor, and the kind of comfort food that makes you want to savor every bite. Their Grey Goose espresso martini is also unmatched. We've tried espresso martinis all over Chicago, and this one is still our favorite. It's smooth, perfectly balanced, and the ideal way to start or end the meal. The atmosphere is another reason we love coming here. The restaurant is gorgeous inside, with a dark, moody vibe that makes it feel special without being stuffy. It's the perfect date night spot whether you're celebrating something or just looking for a great night out together. If you're visiting Chicago and love Italian food, Il Porcellino is a must. Great food, amazing drinks, beautiful ambiance, and a meal you'll be thinking about long after you've left. We make a point to visit every time we're in town, and it never disappoints.

For appetizers, we ordered the While Garlic Loaf Focaccia and the Stuffed mushrooms. I wished I took a video when the focaccia arrived. The waiter, holding a plate with a round and fluffy focaccia and proceeded to pour the garlic et al on top of the bread! Very freshly-made and fabulous! The stuffed mushrooms were also cute delicious! This is a rare time where the stuffing had spinach below the stuffing - excellent! I remember seeing (and enjoying) this while I visited Italy. Delightful! The main courses we ordered were the Gnocchi Bolognese, the Baked Burrata Lasagna and the Barolo Braised Short Rib. The Gnocchi meat sauce was the standout here, being very flavorful, but not as heavy as some other restaurants. The Gnocchi were dense - not fluffy as I had expected. But the sauce flavor was vivid. The Baked Burrata Lasagna was oh, so perfect! Many layers of al dente pasta separates with a tasty meat sauce. Many times I have had lasagna that was either over-baked, or had limp pasta. Here, the lasagna shined! So large of a serving that my wife could not finish it, much to her dismay . . . I had the Barolo Braised Short Rib - oh my living god! - so tender, so complete a dish, with the fork tender meat that melts in your mouth, complimented by a light polenta (I must emphasize the lightness here, as many restaurants serve polenta that is heavy and too rich. This did not compete with the short rib, rather it seamlessly became the foundation on which the richness of the meat was enhanced. I was blown away! But, the most amazing, and probably the most delectable part of the evening was finishing off with a luscious Chocolate Cake! OH, WOW!!! The cake was certainly moist and smooth. Yes, smooth! I could not tell there was cake at all, so smooth it was! And surprisingly (not surprising given the quality of this establishment) it wasn't too sweet, rather just enough to bring out the chocolatey goodness! I only wished that I ordered some hot coffee - the cake would have gone well with a great cup of coffee! Overall, I was very impressed with this restaurant! The old-town decor, the dim lights, the fantastic food (just like of the Italy of old!)- all contributing to a wonderful experience! Highly recommended!

Reservations are released 21 days ahead of time, which I personally find impossible to make. Every time I've checked over the last several years there have been no availability. Yesterday I decided to pop on their website again and was delighted to find that they had released same day dinner reservations for patio only dining. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining so I went ahead and booked a table for Friday night. I felt like I won the dinner lottery. Service was wonderful and I didn't mind sitting outside at all next to the road with cars. I actually never stepped foot in the restaurant so cannot comment on what it's like inside. But do not give up that patio dining reservation if it's available. All of our dishes were delicious. I was really impressed by the meatball appetizers, chicken vesuvio (the potatoes are a must get as a side if you skip this dish), and branzino. The meats and sauces were wonderfully balanced and tender. Nothing tasted overly salted. Ironically, the pasta felt less of a star compared to the other dishes. And of course I had to get the gelato, which was so aesthetically presented and the taste just reminded me of an Italian summer vacation.
