We were very happy with our pizzas. Was the first time I had Phil's since 1992 when I had a girlfriend that lived in the area. Was good then and great today. It tasted like pizza should. After Ninos closed I been looking for a replacement and I found it. No burnt tavern style pizza or any of that stuff made in a 7 minute oven. A real pizza made with real ingredients. It tasted, smelled, and looked like a great pizza out of the wrapper and it was. I can see why they been open 56 years. Been ordering Pizza from Phils for very long time. Always good never a problem. Always order easy cheese, I like a drier pizza where you can see and taste all the ingredients. A couple of weeks ago we ordered delivery and it shows up looking like soup on top. We were hungry and started eating the outside pieces but the middle was a mess. I called and explained that I ordered easy cheese and the order stated easy cheese but the whole center of the pizza was inedible for us. The woman I spoke to seemed annoyed told me to bring it back. I said we already ate some asked if we could have a credit for next time. She stated that they dont do that and that I should have just brought it back and hung up on me. 15 minutes later she called and apologized and said manager had noticed that it had too much cheese contrary to the order when it went out and they would give me a $15 dollar credit. I was happy with that and continued to order from them. A few weeks later I get another soaked greesy cheesy soupy mess that we couldnt eat at all . Now I've paid a delivery charge and I've given the driver a $5.00 tip. Owner comes on the phone tells me I'm a problem customer and just complained a few weeks ago. Nevermind that I've probably ordered a hundred pizzas that were just fine. Real gem of a person. Tellls me really nastilly to bring it back and he'll make me a new one. We've been eating Phil's Pizza for over 25 years. With all the new pizza places that have opened up, Phil's is still the best Chicago style tavern pizza there is! I've always enjoyed their pizza but today wasn't good. They need to check the bottom of their pizzas to make sure the crust isn't burnt.

I honestly don't know what happened to this business. I've been ordering since the 70s. My first complaint was when I ordered a chicken a year or two ago chicken was burnt hard a a rock & dry. the lady told me that she don't know why they even sell the chicken because that's the only way they could cook it is burnt like that. today I ordered the lasagna. It was noodle noodles, ricotta, cheese noodle ricotta cheese, and then probably a pound of mozzarella cheese on it, and it was water. when I called and told him I could not eat it he pretty much yelled at me and said it was soaked with water because of the ricotta cheese and then I complained before very rude. I wasn't asking for my money back. I asked if I could send that back and get an Italian beef sandwich. It's not like I was looking for something for free, but I definitely it. I will never ever ever order there again and I really encourage everyone else not to waste your money. Little Frank's in Burbank isn't that far and they deliver in their food is wonderful. Never ever had a complaint there. The only reason I did not order Frank's was because I wanted some potato salad never never again. read more

Ordered a pizza 1/2 sausage 1/2 green pepper onions mushrooms with very little jalapeño on the vegetable side. Started eating found jalapeño on the whole pizza. Can't eat spicy food. Called manager said when cut it the peppers stick to the cutter and a few pieces might move. Found them on the complete other side. How's that work??.?? Been ordering for over 25 years. Will can pick it up and bring you another option 2 bring it back and get a refund. Those would not work because of plans to go out. No time. Little pricey, but great pizza. Family owned & operated. The regular crust isn't too thin or too thick. Great topping/crust ratio. They do sell wine and beer for those interested in buying alcohol with your meal. It gets busy during the weekend, but they are always on top of everything. read more

At the store and when I called back the manager, did not get her name, said I did it wrong - clearly the system says so... not being a complete FN idiot and knowing how to order, also my wife was stringing with me as we ordered this is utter and complete BS - update - manager called back the next day to apologize and they had another issue and that there is in fact an issue and they are looking into it with the company that handles their online ordering... upgrading to 3 stars read more

Way back in 1994 when I first moved into the area, the first place my wife and I ordered pizza from was Phil's Pizza. Back in the day, as younger people, we remember not just how good the pizza was, but we always remarked at how they make sure they feed you good!! I am sad to say that I have not ordered there much since then over the years, I have ordered from them sporadically not because of anything they did, but simply because of options a little closer to where I live. I add that little nugget to say that 28 years later, I returned to where it all started for us, can still say that Phil's Pizza is THE best pizza I have ever had in my 50 years, and that is saying a LOT. First, they still feed the hell out of you. If you order from Phil's and are still hungry, it's not because of them, that's for sure. They just make sure that you get your money's worth. If you take a look, look at that pizza...look at that cheese action!!! They had a nice sauce ratio as well, definitely not overwhelming by any stretch!! I mean...the food is damn good! My wife wanted the chicken parmigiana over mostaccioli, and I mean damn...they did not play on the portions (though I would not have minded more chicken, but that's me being greedy)!!! Nice, hot, flavorful...why the hell did I ever stop ordering here??? Anyhow, give Phil's some love. I promise you they will earn your business. Been ordering from Phils for over a year now, Their crust has always been crispy well baked even toppings all around. However this time we ordered there popcorn chicken, It was hard burnt pieces. The pizza we ordered was sliced beef and hot gardienera. It was so greasy that the bag it was sent in was soaking up the grease. There are so many pizza places that it's impossible to say who is the best. I have 4 categories. Bad, average, good and great. First time I've tried Phil's and fortunately, Phil's is great. I'm not giving them 5 stars because they are the only pizza place I've been to that measures their pizza with odd numbers. That makes their pizzas smaller than their competitors. I've been eating pizza for over a half century, I'm used to 12-14-16-18 and 20 inch pizzas. I ordered the large and instead of getting a 16 inch pizza, I received a 15 inch pizza. That's also why I consider Phil's to be a little expensive. I would also recommend not having the two guys sweeping the floor with push brooms kicking up dirt and dust while making pizzas. read more

Great pizzas types and toppings. They will make your pizza even thinner than their normal thickness. Plenty of sauce toppings and cheese. Service is quick and friendly. Most pizzas for pickup are available within 30 minutes. Drivers are knowledgeable of delivery areas and most orders filled within the hour. This is a mom and pop restaurant with the only drawback being no dining room. Would be great to have @ location. read more
