I was visiting in Chicago and decided to try a deep dish pizza. I saw this place and decided to give it a try. The greeter and cashier were very nice. The bathroom could have been cleaned up better, perhaps we went in after some very messy people, but I do really like for the bathrooms to be clean especially at restaurants. All in all it was a good atmosphere. The pizza was well made and tasted good. I like the boxes the pizza comes in too because it doesn't just flip open but the edges are tucked in to keep the pizza covered. read more

Visiting Chicago and had to stop at our favorite deep dish pizza place again!!! They certainly don't disappoint! This was a take out only joint but the pies were amazing! I ordered the spinach pizza with onions and black olives. Also order the Lou with that famous delicious sausage. After enjoying every single bite I have come to realize that Chicago Lou's are the best. I've had the Arizona Lou's and the chains in Chicago is better. The temp was cold outside so by the time I got home with this warm pizza it was soggy and stuck to the box :-( The pizza was very soft. I was told by a friend I need to go to a done in location to really enjoy what should be an amazing pizza. This little spot is carry out only , it was hopping Loads of customers and the staff was working so well together. Amazing - friendly services. I would say order ahead and try to park close. I frequently ordered from Lou Malnati's. Over the years $2000 I think yielding 8300 points, about 670 points per $100. Corporate implemented new policy and took all my points in June 2025. I noticed when I ordered delivery I had 0 points. So who does this!!. They didn't even review my years of purchase history. Some financial policy implemented to remove liability to customers, that's what points are to a a company. Eliminate reward points makes your financials look better unless you lose sales. You can never go wrong with Lou Malnatis. This is a takeout joint only, so there isn't much to write about their service, though they've always been very friendly and have never had any problems when ordering. What makes Lou Malnatis sound out against their competitors is of course their crust. A very buttery, flaky crust goes perfect with their tangy chunky tomato sauce and stretchy mozzarella cheese with Italian sausage and/or pepperoni. A true Chicago deep dish icon. You won't find the sausage anywhere as Lou Malnatis makes their own and it very tasty. Definitely plan ahead as well if your planning on ordering a deep dish as it well take a minimum of 30 minutes and up to an hour during peak times. If you're also planning on ordering from them a lot like myself; take advantage of their reward program where you can get $20 off your order once you spend a certain amount of money. read more

I have loved Lou's forever but I am leaving this here in hopes something will improve. (At this location) at least. Usually order delivery and always had great experiences until this year. Late deliveries, poorly made pizza and messed up orders. When I say poorly made I mean, it's questionable it's even "Deep Dish" they are noticeably thinner and slices are coming with half the ingredients. They look and taste terrible. Lou Malnati's is a Chicagoland favorite, and given that I am a pizza junkie, I decided to order curbside pickup as I haven't had Lou's in a while. First, I would like to recognize the effectiveness of the curbside pickup. It was excellent. After you determine the time you want to pick up your pizza, pull up to one of the designated spots and an employee will bring it out to you. It was hassle-free! Unfortunately, the food was not that great. I've had Lou's many times before, but this time I decided to try something new - the Lou, thin crust pizza. Additionally, I ordered a personal deep-dish Chicago Classic as well as I love the butter crust. First, the personal pizza I ordered was incorrectly made. Lou's gave me a crustless personal deep-dish pizza (the crust is made of the sausage patty). While I do love sausage, it was extremely greasy and desired the savory buttery crust the Chicago Classic is known for. Second, the Lou, although the crust was good, was just not that great. In short, I was disappointed. Unlike other pizza places, I've never had too many good experiences with Lou Malnati's. I would rather have Giordano's or another local pizza place. Yup, lived up to all of the hype. Even though I come to Chicago several times a year I had yet to try the infamous Lou Malnati's because my friend prefers their competitor's more. But we decided to eat outside the pizza box and take the Louie plunge. Our garlic, spinach and sausage pizza was just perfection. Huge chunks of actual sausage nestling in a bed of pizza magic. Actual garlic and fresh spinach mixed in to help you to finish up the orgasmic food experience. The crust wasn't as thick as people always make it out to be. Well, maybe... but the butter crust definitely makes you want to eat the entire slice. I ate 2 slices for dinner. And then 1 slice for my midnight snack and then 1 more for breakfast. I would have had another slice for my second breakfast but it was sadly gone. Whatever, I'll work it off when I leave again. read more

Horrible tasteless pizza!!!!! First time ordering from the Elmhurst location and it was a huge disappointment! We ordered a deep dish Lou, which is vegetarian and it was sauce and tomatoes. The crust was about 1/2" high, barely any cheese, spinach or mushrooms just a thick layer of sauce and sliced tomatoes. No flavor at all. I guess that's why it's carry out only. Chicago is know for its pizza. I grew up eating Lou's on special occasions. Once I moved away getting Lou's was anticipated treat when I came to town. However, something has changed. The crusts are no longer buttery, flaky, reminiscent of croissants. What came out the Lou Malnati oven was closer to cardboard than pizza. The sauce had no flavor at all. Had to get some deep dish pizza while I was in Chicago. Lou's is a great place to get a taste of that traditional pie-style pizza where the sauce is on top! The Lou's Mahati's brand is big in Chicago but not so much elsewhere in the US. They have one location in Phoenix (which is apparently the city with the largest amount of Chicagoans) but 47 locations in the Chicago area. The Lou's location in Elmhurst (suburb of Chicago) is just a take out location, but there are a bunch of pubs and places to get a drink nearby. The menu has a bunch of choices besides pizza, but obviously that's not what you come for. One underrated item on the menu is the Lou's Italian Ice dessert -- it's like a soft popsicle that has shaved lemon rinds in it -- very tasty. The Caesar Salad is also very good. The pizza. Ok, first, you have to get some ranch to go with it. We got the Sausage Deep Dish, soooo good. Normally I don't prefer deep dish because the sauce isn't great, plus I just prefer it to be below the ingredients. But this sauce was amazing! read more

Some people love it, I guess I just wasn't one of them...I personally like Geno's better, but I guess it's all about preference. Ordering: Take out (only). Easy ordering (called in). Ordered a small deep dish half sausage, half mushroom pizza. Location: Strip of stores, next to an ice cream place. I easily found 10 min parking right in front of the establishment. The place itself didn't look like much. I noticed they had a cooler there with pre-packaged salads, pizzas, etc. Service: Good. Was ready when I went to pick it up. Packaging: Good. They put a piece of wax paper or something over the top of the pizza, which is great since it keeps the cheese and sauce from sticking to the box. Taste: It was ok. Still warm by the time I got back to my hotel and started eating it (maybe 20 mins). I only ended up eating one slice of the pizza and I was full. Didn't really like the sausage, they were big clumps - some people may like this, but I didn't. I personally didn't find it good enough that I wanted to finish the rest of it - to me, it wasn't worth the excessive calories nor the acid reflux that would follow thereafter (have GERD). read more

This is the Top Deep dish pizza in Chicago. Its better than ginos east and giordanos (stuffed Pizza, but still) for sure. I usually use the carol stream location, but since I am house/dogsitting, I ordered from here on a Saturday evening. I ordered at 8, expecting a hour like the gentleman said. Pizza actually got here in 40 mins! I ordered a small deep dish with extra tomato sauce. I would ding the guy who took my call for giving me an incorrect total, but that'd be mean. Lou Malnati's is a bit overpriced for my liking (18 bucks including delivery and tip) for just one za? Come ON! he quoted me at 12.48 but didn't include the other charges. Once again, this is great pizza. Better than Pizzeria Uno. Gino's East, or any place that claims to have the best deep dish. Please note that Lou Mal's does Deep Dish/Pan style, not stuffed (GIordano's and Nancy's do stuffed). Definitely my favorite Deep Dish place. I prefer stuffed over Deep Dish, but I would highly recommend this place for out of towners to get the chicago experience. When it's done right, wow. We ordered par baked. It comes whole and you finish it at home. We were staying at a hotel suite that was equipped with a kitchen and an oven so we went this route. Just for newbies, ordering a small is not a good idea. It's just not the right balance when you are dealing with a Chicago deep dish. I can usually just digest one slice, but that doesn't stop us from ordering a large. If it's done right the first time, leftovers are just as good. We always go with the Chicago Classic. Tons of true fennel and garlic spiced Italian sausage and extra Wisconsin cheese. We had a couple of sub par experiences previous to this one but the Elmhurst location hit it out of the ball park. Everything was on point, the buttery crust, and the perfect blend of tomatoes, meat and mozzarella. I ate the pie for three days and I was in deep dish heaven. read more

This review is based on this locations poor handling of the gluten free pizzas. I've ordered the gluten free pizza from here multiple times and have stated that I am gluten free because of an allergy, not to cut my pizza etc. However, each time I've ordered there has been cross contamination or they've given me the wrong pizza. Avoid this location if you're gluten free because it isn't worth it! They don't understand gluten free or the meaning of contamination. They are not careful at all and cut the gluten free pizzas with the same cutter. BEWARE you will get sick. read more

We don't order a lot of deep dish, but every once in a while we get a taste for it, and Lou's is the only way to go.
