Update: the store manager reached out to me to address my concerns regarding the late orders. I appreciate how quickly she reached out. I love Lou's, but this particular location leaves something to be desired. I frequently order ahead for a future pick up on the app. My order has never been on time, and I frequently Have to wait 15-20 minutes past my order pick up time to get my food. The worse pizza I have ever seen. Ordered a well done cheese deep dish. It came with no sauce, half of it was soggy and it was pretty cold. It wasn't even edible! I noticed this location getting a lot of bad reviews so I am done here. They did give me a refund but this is the second time it's happened. I gave Lou's a second chance since my last review. There is no flavor in the sauce at all. I ordered toppings like onion, green pepper which helped a little but it didn't help much. I wasn't imagining things as I split the pizza with 2 other people and they all said the same thing right away. We grabbed from my spice cabinet to help. If I was in the restaurant and didn't order it for take out, I would have sent it back. I used to love Lou's. I recently ordered pizza and lasagna because unfortunately due to tongue cancer surgery I can't eat pizza but other members of my family can. I love lasagna and consider myself a fairly accomplished cook and have made lasagna many times plus eating it in numerous restaurants. This lasagna was the worst I've ever had it was smothered in sauce and so salty plus I couldn't tell their was any cheese couldn't eat more than a couple bites. read more

Well i never thought i would see Lou Malnatis needing cash. For what happened to poor lous is depressing. First they raised the reward points past where 4300 point would get you 2 medium deep dish, for those who enjoyed accumulating enough points for that privilege, they raised the point level to 2750 points for one medium pizza. Leaving me to where points left won't get me but a very small appetizer. Poor Lou. The points to dollar ratio is ridiculously low requiring hundreds spent for very little in return. Poor Lou. And the xmas/new year gift for everyone is come January 6th i believe you lose all points accurated in the past are lost.Poor Lou. Sad that we who loved Lou's and actually have spent literally thousands over the years get treated so graciously get treated so poorly for the almighty dollar. Poor Lou. I don't know why I gave Lou's in Palatine so many chances to deliver on the awesome, fresh, and tasty quality ingredients I remember from bygone days... it's so disappointing to see long revered establishments cop out for a few more dollars in their pockets instead of taking pride in a once beautiful and culinary delight. My family gradually dropped out one by one, and friends also attest to a similar experience. Sorry Lou's, indeed you have more enticing and fruitful competition these days to contend with. Poor service, hit or miss quality. When you have to use the app (for rewards redemption) it doesn't always go smoothly.. Last month when I arrived at this location, was greeted with "gee, sorry, we gave away your pizzas" (one thin cheese and a crustless, not a standard order)...I'm sorry but wtah, like you literally had one job to do. Was told I could wait 30 mins for new pizzas or get a refund and a $25 oops credit. Okay, extremely disappointed, hangry and pressed for time...no way could I wait for another order (took the credit and then wrote corporate about my experience). I tried to use the credit tonight at this location, and while it was accepted, it also didn't go smoothly (half the order had to be placed on the app, while the phone-in portion was confusing to the girl answering the phone). Never in the last year of visiting this location have the same workers or managers ever been seen in attendance (and every worker seems to be high school age max). When Lou's brand first expanded in 2016 it was still a good place to get a consistently good pan pizza. Since the 2021 and the Meritage buyout, both service and pizza (as well as the corporate response to my concerns and dilemma) have been severely lacking. Not worth it any more and I really wish they would quit sending out these automatic customer service feedback inquires...why bother, when nothing improves? Malnati's is a Chicago classic. If you are visiting Chicago, you HAVE to try Lou's! We've always had good luck at this location - great pizza every time. Reason I'm reviewing is that I had the gluten free deep dish for the first time and I highly recommend! In a blind taste test, you would not be able to identify this pizza as "gf." It is not as buttery tasting as their regular crust, but it's a solid option in a world of bland and soggy gluten free pizza crusts. read more

Tonight 9/27/24 ordered pizza and wings for dinner. OK I am so surprised on how the quality of the pizza has went down. I actually called back and spoke to the manager (pizza is not cheap now a days) and told her how they are serving frozen pizzas and passing them off as fresh. Anyone from NY or Chicago know fresh pizza. I told her I don't want a coupon or anything as I don't plan on ever returning but I truly believe this pizza was prepped days in advance. We have been a loyal Lou's family for years, but have noticed over the last year that the pizzas coming out of the Palatine location have slowly lacked substance more and more with every order. Food is decent but service is declining severely. I ordered previously and my order came wrong (the salad was wrong). At that time, I called the store to let them know about the mishap, and a women apologized and told me that she would notate my account to get a replacement salad on them the next time I ordered. Fast forward, I call in to order, explained the situation and a woman rudely said "we don't do that". Keeping your word and honoring promises is key. So very disappointed in our delivery order today. The salad for 4 we received was the exact same size as previous ones that were for serving just two. Went inside to find 5 workers in jackets jut standing around doing nothing. After waiting 20 plus minutes the manager walked up and said my order should be done in 5 minutes. I asked why I was given a 7:30 pickup time if the order wouldn't be ready until 8, he basically blew me off and said they were busy.
