We weren't asked what type of crust, though they have 3 options; deep, hand tossed, and thin. The crust is just thin enough to be crispy and yet still hold all the ingredients. They don't skimp on ingredients! The Wings are a whole different level here. They're juicy, large in size, and oh so crispy! We love our wings plain and everyone adds the sauce to their liking at home. I'm a plain wings kind of girl because their wings are just that good that I don't need to cover it in buffalo sauce, but hubs loves the taste of buffalo sauce and will eat them half covered with sauce. The boys will do a combo of plain and slightly dipped into sauce wings. Try to pizza, definitely try the wings, and while you're at it - get yourself an order of the breadsticks too! Nicely priced, decent pizza....... My review is based on a "Mega Football Palooza" we got for a kid's birthday party. The website says it is a 24"x18" pizza that can feed up to 12 people. Well quantity wise, the pizza was there! Fed 10 people and we had plenty of leftovers. The price was good too, although there was a pricing issue with there website. The company site had it listed at $32.99 and the person taking the order on the phone said it was old and wanted to charge $36. I just said that was what they had it listed as a deal and they gave it to me, but made mention of ingredient costs going up and normally it would have been a higher price. Attached photo is what they have listed on their site as of 4/18/22, so still not updated. Personally, I would have not cared if it was $36, but since the website had it listed at $32, I do expect them to be priced that way. Quality wise, the pizza was ok. The cheese on top was pretty dry. Not that I would want soaked in grease either, but it was at the opposite end of the spectrum. Other viewers were raving about the sauce, but on the Palooza pizza, the sauce was thin so was not able to taste it much. It was a decent pizza and good for a large kid's party. read more

We found this place from Steve Dolinsky's "Pizza City, USA" book series, which is a good indicator for outstanding pizza joint in the greater Chicago area. To rank the 4 items in my order: - *CHICKEN WINGS*: believe it or not, the fried chicken wings here are the best ones we've had in a while... so freshly cooked and nicely seasoned. Worth trying! - *THIN CRUST PIZZA*: this is the style that got mentioned by the book and it didn't disappoint! The tomato sauce is on the sweeter side but not too much, I love it. Cheese is fresh and crust is nice. Well done! - *DEEP DISH PIZZA*: this is the biggest disappointment in the order. Let's be honest, and check my picture - this is not DEEP DISH. This is just a normal pizza with a high crust edge. That means it's not loaded with enough ingredients to make it "deep". I just made a yelp account to write a review of this place because, dang... I love everything about it! The bottom line: We have just become loyal, lifetime customers to a place with awesome pizza and an extremely kind owner who seems to take great pride in his work. I walked into the place to order in-person and I'm pretty sure it was the owner who helped me. The man was SO NICE and, even though I was in-and-out pretty quick, he asked me how I heard of the place and, while briefly speaking with him, I got the sense he couldn't wait to make a pizza for us to show us how good it is. After picking it up and my family devouring the pizza, I can honestly say that we haven't had a thin crust pizza that good in a VERY long time. What a wonderful experience. I won't compare it to other pizza places because they're all different in their own ways, but we'll now be regulars and I'm so happy they are only 5 minutes down the road from us, although we would drive a ways to keep coming back anyways. read more

Penguino's reminds me a bit of Tortorice's pizza but with less herbs and seasonings. I tried the thin crust sausage pizza here which had an almost bready thin crust, which wasn't super crisp. I enjoyed the flavor, juiciness, and size of the sausage crumbles. I also liked how the pizza wasn't too salty and that the sauce was a bit on the sweet side, but didn't really taste artificial. There is a nice chewy, thick cheese layer on top of the sauce and the edges were pretty crispy. The price was reasonable but it didn't really stand out to differentiate itself from other local pizzas. The breadsticks however, are quite addictive with a nice buttery taste and fluffy texture. This was much more memorable than the pizza and the breadsticks paired nicely with a bright and sweet marinara sauce. These are pretty similar to the fazoli or olive garden breadsticks. Overall, good place to get a pizza at a reasonable price. Delivery is also fast (mine arrived quite a bit earlier than quoted) and the delivery person was friendly. read more

This place is amazing. I live out of town, with friends that live in the area and I make it a point to come here for their deep dish every time. I'm the type of person who loves to go out to eat at different places when I go out of town, but this is a staple. Not to mention the man working there (every time I go) offers me a soda on the house. It's a great place ran by good people. Thanks to GrubHub, Penguino's has become my 'go to' for Pan Pizza. We've ordered from them probably 10 times in the last 5 months and every time the pizza arrives rapidly and is always hot and delicious! My favorite is Buffalo Chicken pizza which is so amazing that I actually experience a 'food coma' while I'm consuming it! We've also come to love their 'supreme' which sausage, mushroom, green pepper and onion which is also to die for... I mostly admire and love how the crust tastes wonderful with just the right texture just the way it is without needing dipping sauce! The toppings also taste super fresh! My husband and I are new to the area and were looking for a good pizza place to try during our "Staycation". After reading reviews on Yelp and Google, we settled on Penguino's and we were not disappointed! We ordered delivery: a thin crust pepperoni and a pan pepperoni, as well as breadsticks. By far the best pizza I have had! We were in the middle of moving to the area and the family was famished. I was out voted on having pizza delivered. I am not a fan of delivery pizza. We ordered a Penguino Pizza and for me, the Penguino Italian Beef Sandwich. The Italian Beef Sandwich was fantastic and the aju was on point. The pizza smelled and looked quite inviting. After walking past it about four times, I finally gave it a try and I am glad I did. Immediately noticeable are the fresh ingredients and the flavorful pizza sauce. Sauce is not overbearing and is perfectly spiced. The sausage isn't greasy and has a mild robust flavor. I also appreciate that all the toppings are not lost in mounds of cheese. Lastly, they perfectly cook the thin crust. So far, every order has been consistent and of high quality. They have always delivered within the quoted time frame. Even if we had to wait a little longer during busy periods it will be well worth the wait! Thank you Penguino's for being awesome. I can now look forward to pizza delivery night with the family! P.S. Ordered from here on the 4th of July when Tortorices, my normal go to place, was closed. I had pizza from here a few years back at it was not memorable. This was different. My thin crust was cooked just as I had asked for it. The person working the counter who was also probably the person who took my order and made my pizza was very nice and went out of his way to thank me profusely for the nominal tip I left. The thin crust was crispy, there was a good amount of cheese, and it had a nice taste. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side, but that was not a negative. It's strange that two of my favorite pizza carryout joints are within a block of each other when most of the area is a pizza desert.
