Really good Chicago deep dish pizza. This little outpost was the closest to the house, located in a little strip mall with plenty of parking. it is carryout only (no dine-in) as most of the pizza places around here seem to be. It was Super Bowl Sunday so figured it would be busy and possibly increasing the chance of a mistake. So ordered a medium Chicago style on-line (paid for it as well) right when it opened at 11 am, for a 2 pm pickup. Got there exactly at 2, gave my name, and they had the pizza ready for me. I had forgotten how heavy even a medium Chicago deep dish pizza could be. I got it home, and waited till the Super Bowl began. It was a just a beautiful pie. We reheated it at 350 to get it just warm enough. The chicago style has sliced mozzarella, with a sausage patty that covers the entire pizza, and sweet chunky tomato sauce on top. The best part of the pizza is the crust...always crispy crunchy even with wet toppings but never greasy or too buttery like pan pizza can get. The crust goes over the edge so you always can get some extra crust for a bite if that is what you want...or just hand it over to your partner who prefers the crust, and focus on the middle...each bite (no matter how big or small) having the perfect balanced layers of crust, cheese, sausage and sauce. I've read reviews about how Malnati's isn't as good as before, but that was not the case for me. Malnati's is the best chain restaurant to serve deep dish. The pie cost almost $30 with tax, but if you consider that it can be sliced into 8 pieces, and 2 pieces is enough for an adult...it's a good value in this day and age. read more

The sangria is strong and really good, definitely recommend. I had ordered the gluten free pepperoni pizza, it was really hard to chew, I think they over cooked it. I've had all the alleged best pizzas of Chicago and none compare to Lou's Deep Dish Sausage. Garlic. Butter Crust. If they serve pizza in heaven this is what it tastes like. Every bite elicits an "OMG" eyes closed. Yes, not being poetic it is THAT good. I remember being a transplanted Californian first having a Giordano Deep Dish pizza and thinking it was incredible. Restaurant Review Great deep dish pizza! Lou can go head to head with Gino's any day. I recently went on the "other side" and tried the Lou which is a vegetarian pizza (Fresh spinach, mushrooms and sliced tomatoes covered with a blend of mozzarella, romano and cheddar cheese). Normally I am a carnivore, but my wife was craving spinach pizza and this seemed like a good choice. Unlike Gino's thick deep dish crust, Lou's crust is more balance with less dough and more butter flavor which can be amped up with butter crust option (0.75 cents more). The pizza itself has significant toppings with cheese that can be pulled across the room. The sauce is not too sweet or salty and the ingredients are fresh. The shop itself is great, super small for carryout and delivery only. Staff was super friendly. The only reason Lou is not 5 star is the cost. For a large deep dish for 4 people, it cost 24 w/ tax. Pro- one of the best deep dish pizza in chicago, fresh ingredients, deep dish without a super thick crust, butter crust upgrade Con- $$$ more than papa john or pizza hut Hidden deal- Sign up online for the email club for a free appetizer. Terrible customer service at this location. Manager is an abusive bully. I placed an order for a Gluten-Free crust, deep dish, spinach & garlic, 1/2 pepperoni pizza and was charged over $30.00 for a pizza the size of a dessert plate. was never given a receipt. I don't eat meat- the pepperoni 1/2 was for my son. I pick up the pizza at the Barrington Rd. location. Bring the pizza home and pepperoni is on the ENTIRE pizza. I can't eat it now. I called the restaurant and told them they screwed up my order and I could not eat it. I spoke with John, who just kept saying "sorry, I put the ticket in as 1/2 pepperoni". I was like: I really don't care what you put on the ticket- I'm starving and now I have a pizza I can't eat. Never said oh- we'll make this right, we are are so sorry we screwed your (very expensive) order up. John told me they'd deliver a new pizza with no meet on it- but of course I need to wait an hour. Mind you I'm starving!! Then I get a call from the "manager" at Lou's, never tells me his name, who proceeds to bully and harass me on the phone. The first thing he says to me is- "I'm the manager at Lou Malnati's and I have an upset employee- and I need to know why". I was like "I beg your pardon"!!!! Not, I'm calling about the order we screwed up- I heard you were upset, what can we do to make it right. He then bullies and harasses me more- accusing me of swearing at his employee- when I did no such thing. I had several people in my home who witnessed the entire conversation, because I had him on speaker phone. He was antagonizing me and lying, repeatedly and would not stop. It was the WORST experience I have ever had with a restaurant in my life. I will NEVER order from this location again- and suggest EVERYONE to order from a different Lou's. Louis the manager resolved the issue with a delivery of cash within an hour and a half. This is an example of good customer service if making a right out of a wrong. My reviews on pizza are always critical as I love the stuff. So this 3 may be your 4. After debating between Georgios and Lou, I decided to go with Lou because it was a lot cheaper. My memories of LM from the original Lincolnwood location made me stray away from this place for a long time. I have a hard time, and often embarrassed, with tourists eating here. It's always been too salty. However, this Lou on Barrington was different. I think I like it better than the original. As most have said, its a carry out. I ordered a personal LM special online and as promised, it was ready on time. As I received this tiny box, I was kinda upset at myself for not ordering the small. How was this little pie going to fill me up? Well, 3/4 of the pizza later, I was proven wrong. Small yet filling. And my original complaint of too much salt has been solved. I found myself adding salt actually. The ingredients were kinda fresh. I'm not sure why, but I tasted a frozen pizza like quality. Couldn't put my finger on it, but it wasn't 100% fresh. In any case, this is a nice place to go for a somewhat cheap personal pizza. Ended up costing me around $10. Any other chain would have been a larger pizza for price. And usually I say you get what you pay for. However, in this case, $10 at Jets is better spent. Maybe I'm just sad because the best pizza place on earth, Burt's, closed down. Ordered(Delivery) a deep dish with sausage and giardeniera/spinach and a thin crust only cheese, also a Lou Malanati's salad. I've ate here many times at different locations but this was a first time having it delivered! Everything came hot and fresh and just as ordered. Only downside, it does take a good 45 - 60 min wait for the deep dish style pizza so we waited about an hour and 10 min. My husband said "WORTH IT". He loves Lous and worked here as a kid in his high school days. I love that they offer the frozen pizzas in the case when you do dine in. We usually pick up a few for our trip home! The thin crust was very good! The sausage here comes as patty (standard) OR if you can ask for the sausage crumbles. I remember a few years ago they had a fried cheese cubes app and they were very good- this time I didn't see them on the menu. Darn. They must have got rid of them. The Lous Salad is a must to try! They offer 2 sizes. Go big or go home ;) if you ever find yourself in the Chicago area- try it! read more

The crust was hard, the toppings were skimpy, and the tomato sauce was mostly huge hunks of tomatoes. The whole thing was very bland and in need of more seasoning. We expected better for $31. We try to order for delivery as much as we can but unfortunately our diets get in the way. I have never had any complaints about this location and the delivery service has always been acceptable ranging between 45 and 75 minutes. They always repeat orders back over the phone to make sure you get what you want and save previous orders on your order history so they know what you usually like.
