I've been enjoying Lou Malnati's pizza for well over 30 years. This is the first and last time I ordered from the Schererville location. I prepaid the pizza for delivery and this is where my good experience stop being good. I always order the same thing consistently no matter what location whether I'm in LINKIN PARK Chicago or in the suburbs in Schaumburg wherever I order a Malnati's Chicago classic, that gives you sausage with extra cheese, deep dish with a butter crust. I was quoted an hour for delivery. The first thing that struck me was the six dollar delivery charge, but I really wanted the pizza and I was on a conference call so I could not leave to go pick it up. So an hour and a half later still no doorbell. I'm wondering where the pizza is so just for kicks, I go look outside the front door and loan to hold there is the pizza sitting on my porch. I get it in the house and it's ice cold literally almost frozen . Never mind you I spent over $55 for the stupid pizza including a good tip so I called the store. I ask for a manager and I asked the manager why on earth didn't they ring my doorbell when they came I mean, I've been ordering pizzas for over 50 years And they always every single time without doubt ring the doorbell when they deliver pizza the knucklehead delivery driver from Lou Malnati's decided not to ring the doorbell when it's 20° outside. When you drop almost $60 for a pizza, you expect it to be piping hot when it gets delivered not nice cold sitting on the porch because th driver didn't ring the doorbell. When I explain this to manager, I was not offered a coupon. I was not offered anything not even a sorry I got I don't know. I don't know why he would've done that. . The way my doorbell works. Is it rings all throughout the house? There is no way I missed it. They didn't ring the bell $10 tip and he couldn't ring the doorbell. That is beyond pathetic service hence my negative review and I will never order a pizza from that location ever again. It's simple look at their yelp reviews. It's not a good location. Lou Malnati's, how I have missed you. The locations close to my home in Carmel Indiana and Broad Ripple have been permanently closed. So while I'm working nearby this week I am taking advantage of the Lou's location. I ordered my favorite deep dish cheese, with butter crust. Besides the pizza I love the Malnati salad with creamy lemon garlic dressing. My pizza was ready right on time. The pizza was very good, however, the cheese seemed rather skimpy as compared to the cheese deep dish pizzas I have had from all the other locations I have ordered from. Cheese deep dish is my usual order, so I know how much cheese should be on the pizza and this one was definitely not the usual amount of cheese. I had a free appetizer coupon when you spend $20. We chose the 8 piece bone in bbq wings and they were absolutely delicious. The chicken itself tasted baked, but the sauce was so good! One of the better bbq sauces I've had in a long time. The large sausage thin crust pizza was around $22. It definitely looked like a frozen pizza when we first opened the box. The taste was good though. Taste wise we all agreed 7.5/10. The sausage was seasoned and there was a good cheese to sauce ratio. You can't visit the Chicagoland area and not order deep dish pizza. We ordered carry-out through their website about 2 hours ahead of time. The order was not ready on time, but it was only an extra 3-4 minute wait. We ended up getting a small Malnati Chicago Classic pizza with spinach added and no buttercrust. This was the perfect size to feed 2 people. I am all about the crust and you truly can't go wrong with a deep dish pizza. You can order Lou Malnati's frozen pizza online to be shipped to you and I may have to order this when I'm home in North Carolina to get my deep dish pizza fix. read more

This restaurant is not up to the standard of the other Lou's I've been to in IL. Ordered delivery through the app and it's just a door dash driver. It was delivered 20 mins later than originally quoted which is a bit annoying. For starters the pizzas were just average. Ordered small thin Mikes hot honey & the Buffalo chicken. Both just not that good- and these were their specialty pizza options. The meat was bleh and flavor not there. Also, the tiramisu was frozen. Had to let it defrost & then it just tasted watery. This used to be my families favorite pizza restaurant. However, for the last several months we have moved our large Friday night pizza order over to Giordano's down the street. We asked for plates with our order one night as we planned to eat on the run. The employee balked at our request for 12 plates. She said "No! I can't give you 12 but I can give you 6." Haven't been back because it wasn't unreasonable for us to ask for 12 plates with an order of 4 large pizzas. We weren't trying to harm or take advantage of anyone by requesting lousy thin paper plates so we can eat the pizza we just purchased. Not very impressed with their pizza. The thin crust was good in the aspect of the cheese , sauce, sausage and pepperoni. Not a fan of the butter crust. I believe it was cooked in a pan not on the brick of the oven. Probably not a brick oven at all. The deep dish was lacking big time. Was more like a double crust with not much cheese at all. Felt like I was eating pizza bread. For them to be rated one of the best out of Chicago i was highly disappointed. There are way better Chicago style pizza places around. The Good: Variety, hot fresh pizza, personally delivered to you via delivery at home or carry out (no dining in at this location), convenient, and the Customer Service. The Bad: They are a bit slower. I ordered online and according to the order it mentioned to arrive 45-50 minutes after placing order. I was there 60 minutes but mine wasn't ready yet. I ordered a personal size sausage pizza for pickup. I was surprised to see the little box. I thought it'd be a bit bigger for $12.00. The crust seemed thinner than what I remembered but the pizza was DELICIOUS!! I compared the pizza with a snack size bag and the pizza was a tiny bit bigger. This was one of the worst pizza experiences I have ever had. I was coming from out of town and ordered an hour and a half in advance because I know the deep dish takes some time. I called twice because I recognized that there would be a time change and I wanted to make sure that my pizza was ready when I got there. It wasn't. In fact they hadn't even started it. The most disappointing part for me is that the manager told me that no one would admit to having talked to me on the phone. No one in the store would be responsible for the fact that my pizza hadn't been started yet. What kind of adult doesn't take responsibility for her own actions? and what kind of manager allows this? I regularly order Lou Malnati's pizza from this location. Often, I use the order in advance option, and place my order hours before I need it. The last several times I've ordered from this location, I usually have to wait about 30 minutes beyond requested pick up time. Stafford generally friendly, but never offer any compensation or apologies. The standard line is five more minutes even if it's not. If I didn't love the pizza so much I would consider shopping elsewhere. Perhaps they could figure out how to put a pizza in 15 to 30 minutes earlier and get it done on time, especially when you're given five hours of advance notice. read more

***Check your pizza before you leave**** Picked up from this location 3 times. 2/3 times I picked up, I got home and toppings were not completely on the pizza. Not sure how they could box this, charge full price, and give it to a customer. Both times I had to call, and the manager understood the issue- either refunded or gift cert was provided. I suggest the following to the management of Schererville - order a pizza from Flossmoor and do a taste test. That location never disappoints with the quality of their pizzas. The tomato sauce was chunky yet thinned out and watered down. I called to file my complaint and the manager offered 10% off on our next meal. What about this $45 I just wasted on this meal and the $$ I have to spend to replace this dinner! If I ever go back I'll probably use their 10% off on a salad. Pass on their pizza. The pizza was great (it almost always is), but a glitch with the app created a billing problem that resulted in my being charged for the order twice. I caught the error when I reviewed my credit card statement and immediately called the restaurant. Now here's why I gave them five stars, they took the time to resolve the problem in a way that made me feel like a valued customer. The person that took my call told me they'd look into it and get back to me. Forty-eight hours later, they emailed me a credit receipt and then called to ensure the email was delivered. In a time where customer service seems to be going out the window, Lou Malnati's remains an outlier. I look forward to giving them back the credit this weekend. read more

We ordered a late night pizza delivery and it came faster than expected! We ordered a medium thin crust with half spinach&sausage and half pepperoni. It wasn't greasy and can easily feed 2 very hungry people. Our toddler was sleeping, so in the special notes I asked to call when the driver arrived instead of ring the doorbell! This place has amazing deep dish, but because it is pricey, we save it for an occasional treat. My husband called and ordered food to be ready for 530 today on Mother's Day. He arrived food was not ready until almost an hour after his arrival! This isn't the first time we've had issues with our order being ready on time with this location. Ok I like pizza, who doesn't. This location would make Lou upset. They are CHEAP here. They put no sauce on there pie, and what sause is on it is not evenly distributed. You ask for extra sause they want to charge you a topping. You cant even do this on the app. I learned my lesson elsewhere to fall for even considering paying for extra sause you won't get They put no cheese on the pizza. So I ordered extra cheese on both styles of pie. NO EXTRA CHEESE but they sure took my money for it. You think you're gonna get a gooey cheese strings when you pull off a piece pizza....think again. A famous Chicago staple for deep dish pizza to die for. I like to custom order when the option is available - sausage, Italian ground beef, black olives, onions and green bell peppers. But I also love to mail order the 6 pizza option and then add additional ingredients during the last 15 minutes of cooking. Lou Malnati's has several locations in and near Chicago. I love this place. We cooked a sausage/cheese from the freezer this week during the snow/ice event in Austin, TX and fed four people and had a few slices left over for next day lunch. read more

Just returned from a visit to The Region and had Lou's from this location three times in two weeks! Every pie was delicious and perfectly made. My favorite pie is the sausage with crumbled sausage pieces since I think the regular sausage, which is like a giant sausage patty, can be a bit overwhelming. We also always get extra sauce because Lou's chunky tomatoes are so hearty and delicious. For me, it is simply the best pizza, anywhere, and I'm so glad that Lou's got some investors to let them expand so much. Service has been great as well during the pandemic; you just drive up and they bring it out to you in a few minutes. It's obviously not for everyone--many of my friends prefer New York style--but if you like a deep-dish pizza feast with top ingredients, this is the place. read more

Pizzas are often a one-off depending upon the cook(s) on duty. Consistency training is imperative. The last two visits have been totally satisfying. Could not ask for better.
