I have came here a numerous of times, there's always a short wait because this is the best breakfast nook in the area. The portions are always generously big. This time, I went with Florentine Benedict and it didn't disappoint me at all. Loves the spinach and tomatoes!!! Grilled muffins at the bottom of the somewhat perfect poached eggs. And the thick hollandaise sauce. Home fries were good. The sauce I have had better elsewhere. One of the egg was a little more done than poached but it was still tasty! Hooray, the Worcester diner season has begun again! And we hit it early, on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend 2023, with a trip to a SLIGHTLY out of town locale we had not yet gotten around to. Well, Lou Roc's did not disappoint. Interesting mix of clientele: college kids (and dads), townies, couple tradesmen, senior citizens. Highlights: adorable physical plant, see pics for a glimpse of the classic style and fun decor. Impeccable service, pleasant and experienced servers, no B/S, fast, thoughtful, several circle-backs for refill inquiries without hovering. Food was Delish! Spicy hash browns, as one gets older they become a little hard to handle (but boy are they flavorful at Mr Roc's establishment). The corned beef hash stands out too with a truly beefy taste. And bring your appetite as well as cash: it's a lot of food and they don't take credit cards. (ATM on site, they know that some of their custom is coming from kids with a hangover who won't remember to bring the folding stuff.) We lucked out, getting a parking spot in the small lot and waiting about 13 secs for a booth. Three thumbs up! read more

Hands down best breakfast in Worcester County!!! We've been all over for breakfast and most places have been good, but so far before today nothing I'd recommend. My partner mentioned before the weekend that he'd like to go out for breakfast. So I went on Yelp to see what I could find to try. I remembered Lou Rocs was picked as the best in Worcester so we decided to give that a try. We knew we had to get there somewhat early if we wanted to get in, so we arrived about 8:30 on a Saturday morning. There was already a line, but at least it wasn't so long we had to stand outside. There was probably 4-5 parties in line in front of us and it took about 15 minutes wait. We were immediately greeted and ordered coffees which were quickly served and our orders taken. My partner ordered their big breakfast which came with pancakes or French toast (he picked the French toast) I ordered the homemade hash and eggs breakfast which both breakfasts came with home fries and toast. Our breakfasts were served in a reasonable amount of time especially for how busy they were. Wow! What giant servings of food!!! The real test is how good it is. I've been to places before that just give you giant portions of food and it all tastes like crap. Everything was delicious...especially the home fries!!! I don't know why most places can't get home fries done right, but these were great! My partner quickly finished his meal and I got about half of mine eaten before the waitress showed up with a take out container for me to pack up the rest. (I noticed a few people going out with these containers!) Our whole bill came to $24. and change. Definitely coming back again!! read more

Food is just ok, I think they try to make up for it by serving huge portions. The service is friendly but often frantic. The ambiance is the worst part though, place is off the scale loud (not good if you're nursing a hangover) and a large percentage of customers seem to have zero issues with openly coughing, sneezing, burping, farting, and drooling in public. read more

I really enjoyed Lou Roc's Diner. It's not too far from my childhood home, and it has a real hometowny vibe. People are friendly, and the Worcester accent rings out from the conversation with regulars. We got the pancakes - they were massive, and they were served with fresh berries, and the homefries (delicious), and the cornbeef hash. Breakfast was good, and typical of a diner, not too much flair - just comforting and delicious. I'm knocking off one star because I thought it was a bit expensive for Holden. These prices might be okay in Boston (where I live), but I didn't expect them to be quite so high neighboring my hometown. I'd say that it was a great meal, but I'd probably favor The Broadway downtown. read more

First thing's first ... this place is CASH ONLY (there's an ATM at the front door). I'm grateful I have a friend that seems to know every diner and breakfast joint in the area. We agreed to meet for breakfast recently and my friend suggested Lou's ... wow! Awesome, right-out-of-the-50s diner! Great service (waitresses are curt, but I love that because it adds to the experience, in my opinion), place has a laid-back atmosphere, and the menu is insane. My friend warned me that Lou's "seems to use Ostrich eggs because the egg dishes are HUGE" and he wasn't kidding. I went with one of their scrambles that had chopped broccoli and cheese. Soooooo good. Not sure exactly what kind of cheese was in it, but it was at least cheddar and mozzarella because every bite featured a thread of cheese that just pulllllled away with your fork. Coupled that with a grilled English muffin and a side of link sausages and definitely didn't leave hungry. Just writing this review, my mouth is watering and I want to go back ... NOW! One minor caveat is that the coffee could be better. Typical diner coffee (tastes like it's from Sysco), but it's not as bad as other places. Thanks to my friend who did an extensive search of the restaurants in the area and recommend this place when we had guests in the town. We were there on a weekend for brunch and as expected there was a long line. However, the wait time was surprisingly just 15-20 minutes. We had 4 groups ahead of us and 15 minutes was quite a reasonable wait time. This is a cash-only place and I remember seeing an ATM in the wait area. The wait staff were friendly and the service was quick. Overall, sweet and savory options combined, there are decent number of options for vegetarians. We ordered hash browns on the side and french toast with walnut topping. The quantity was huge and filling! My friend and I shared the french toast and the side as we decided not to avoid taking leftovers. My other friends who ordered eggs with Italian sausage and french toast loved their food! Bringing in out of town friends and treating them to a hearty and delicious breakfast in Worcester is a satisfying experience. Looking for one of the best diners In the country. You do not have look any further. This diner offers large portions, creative dishes and amazing service. Even though, I do not live in the area. I have visited this diner twice and each time has been a wonderful meal. If you are a diet, do not go here. The portions are very large. On our first visit, our waitress had to tell us to change our hash browns to a half portion because we were going to have too much. Here are the highlights and suggestions to make the most out of a visit to this great spot. -Get their early - avoid the rush and enjoy a quiet morning with the regulars -Order the home-made hash. You will not regret it. -Check out one of their special offerings such as the Irish & Polish Benedict Now, it is not a question that I will be back to this diner. Final note, Worcester is known for diners and it is really great to find a real well run diner keeping this great American tradition. If you are interested in seeing the history of diners, go to the Miss Worcester diner which is one of the model diners which were originally manufactured in Worcester and sent around the country. My cousin and I went here for their amazing breakfast this weekend! I was surprised and overwhelmed by the amount of food I saw passing by on the plates. The seating is first come first serve, so make sure you check out who is in front of you or you may never get seated. The diner is small inside--maybe about 20 tables and 15 seats at the bar top. The waitresses are very friendly though and make you feel at home. Once we were seated our waitress quickly brought over our menus and again I was overwhelmed by the amount of combos and entrees that were available. I ended up picking the big breakfast, which came with two pieces of sausage, two pieces of bacon, choice of toast, 2 eggs, home fries, and 2 pancakes or french toast. Since I was undecided if I wanted french toast or pancakes I asked if I could get one of each and she said sure. All of this mind you was just $9.50!! It did not take long for our food to be brought out and I was again overwhelmed by the amount of food that was on my plate. I took my first bite of the potatoes and eggs and it was delicious. The potatoes were seasoned well, but just needed a little bit of salt and pepper and of course ketchup! The french toast and pancakes were swimming in butter. I scraped off some of the butter on the french toast and added some of their syrup. The toast was full of flavor and the syrup made it pop just right. I gobbled down both pieces and took a small bite of the pancake. The pancake was heavy and had a gritty taste to it, which I liked. Before I got too full I was able to take a few bites of bacon and sausage. Both were very good--the bacon was crispy and thick. I ended up taking most of my food home and eating it for lunch later on and then breakfast the next day. Overall this was an amazing spot to get breakfast. I would eat a little bit before you get there as you could be waiting a while just to warn you! But, it is so worth the wait! It is a gem among the many restaurants in Worcester. We again arrived at dawn, before they get too busy. We were greeted by the same waitress from before, with big welcoming smile. We were finally back! The inside was a bit more lively than the last time, as we arrived later time than the last time. And, the customers kept coming in more and more. Each time, the waitress greeted them with "Hi John!" "Mornin' Tom!" "Usual Paul?" since she knew almost everyone by their names. Learning from the previous experience (their portion size is ridiculously huge!), we decided not to order any side dish. Again, learning from our previous huge portion food servings, we decided to go with Eggs Benedict. That is usually a portion that is not crazy huge, right? Wrong! This is Lou Roc, after all. When they came to our table, we were again amazed at the crazy portions! It was again super delicious and we were more than happy, they certainly lived up to our expectation for the second time. We had lots of left overs, which we had the next morning with pleasure. At the end, we had another magnificent experience here at Lou Roc. Friendly service, amazing food, and incredible amount of food. We will be sure to return again in the future, for more delicious food!!! Lou Roc's is a solid choice for diner breakfast. I've been here multiple times and what keeps bringing me back are the large portions and super friendly waitstaff. This particular time, we ordered the apples and cinnamon pancakes and the stuffed French toast, both with a side of home fries.
