Super Teen Zap: Hot & Sour Chicken Feet Soup ($17)
    Cherylynn N.

3.5 STARS I'm all for hood eats. Say what you will about the 'loin but they have some of the best mom and pop ethnic eats! It's not as bad as some make it out to be. Walking through (during the day), I get "Hi"s and *smiles* versus uncomfortable, weird stares in The Marina. I've had Louder bookmarked and finally had a chance to visit when we were nearby for HH. Less than a year young, Louder is a rebrand of Tycoon Thai that's been around for over a decade. Open for takeout, delivery, and indoor dining. M E N U Thai and Laotian Cuisine - Apps, salads, soups, curry, grilled meats, noodle + fried rice dishes, and desserts (roti, mango sticky rice, etc). Beer, wine, and soju available. F O O D * Super Teen Zap - Hot & Sour Chicken Feet Soup ($17): https://tinyurl.com/4n2ph5td Huge fan of this tom yum like soup with gelatinous chicken feet. Unfortunately, this rendition was a miss. The broth was very sour and not spicy, and could have benefited from stewing longer so the herbs and aromatics infused into the broth (tasted watered down). * Nam Kao Tod - Crispy Rice Ball Salad: Deep-fried rice ball mixed w/ ground pork (missing?), homemade special sauce ($17): https://tinyurl.com/mr2pej92 I had bookmarked Louder for this Laotian dish. Sadly, it too was a miss. The rice ball wasn't fried long enough so the rice from the inside was still cold while it was overly dressed with lime juice, making it too sour and some parts mushy. Looks like their spin is use of ground pork instead of fermented sausage but I couldn't detect any pork. * Pad See Ew - Thick noodle, Chinese broccoli, egg, black bean sauce ($16 + $3 shrimp): https://tinyurl.com/3y7wft7k Nice firm, shrimp with crisp broccoli + carrots and soft noodles. On the bland side tho. * Kor Mor Yang - Grilled Pork Shoulder ($17) + Sticky Rice ($4): https://tinyurl.com/28rcajah Best item we had, the pork shoulder was rich and juicy with a nice smoky flavor. Served with a salty, punchy nam jim jaew (tamarind, fish sauce, lime, chili, etc.) sauce. The chewy sticky rice was the perfect accompaniment, complementing the savoriness of the pork. S E R V I C E Friendly staff with prompt food service (not busy at the time) A M B I A N C E Casual and modern with traditional Thai baskets on the wall. There's about 6-7 tables, mix of regular and high tops. P A R K I N G Difficult street parking. Overall, I wish I had a better experience at Louder but it seems like we visited on an off day, where the flavors were unbalanced and/or execution was off. If I find myself in this part of the 'lion again, I would give them another shot.

I came here because I was next to a hotel I was staying, and I wanted to meet out with some friends. It was all of our first time here, and I was rather surprised by how good everything was. We had the pad Thai, drunken doodle, Spicy basil, chicken, and a few other appetizers that referred delicious very friendly service, and it was very quiet when we were there. Definitely recommend.

Came here for a birthday celebration. There were 3 adults and a three year old, so we had to be sure whatever restaurant we chose would be appropriate for the three year old. We figured with a name like "Louder", it *had* to be okay! Food was Southeast Asian, Laotian, Thai, Vietnamese, for the most part. We had the steamed tapioca balls that you wrap in lettuce before eating and the pad see ew. We also ordered soup (the baby's favorite food). Everything was good, not mind blowing good, but certainly good enough for a return visit if I'm around the area!

My family and I ate here two nights in a row. The food is just so delicious! We got pad thai each night and it's seriously our favorite. It's so flavorful with strong tamarind notes (I think I've described this enough with my previous reviews lol). We also ordered the Louder Clear Crispy Rolls, pineapple fried rice, sticky rice, and grilled chicken. The crispy rolls, though fried, actually provided lightness as it comes with large lettuce leaves and herbs. The pineapple fried rice was savory and I like how the rice was a bit sticky. The grilled chicken came with a sweet and sour sauce and a fish sauce. The waitress suggested we get sticky rice with it, and that was a good pairing. The sticky rice came in piping hot and it was comforting with the savory/smoky chicken. The Kao Piak was such a comforting dish. The broth was clear and thick due to the pork, and took on its flavor. The handmade noodles were thick with a bit of chewiness. The fried garlic chips were a nice surprise when I got it in my spoon. I didn't even know this was a soup - the menu just described it as a noodle dish. I'm not a soup person but I'm so glad it came this way. And the golden tofu was crispy on the outside and fluffy and airy on the inside. Service was fast and friendly as usual. The ambiance is super casual. The chairs for the regular tables are stools, so I think it really is meant for quick dining. The high tops are bar stools as well. But it's not like they're going to rush you out - I'm sure you can stay there longer if you want to order more food. Plus, with the TL the way that it is, you probably don't want to stay after it gets dark. I think Louder is one of the best restaurants in the TL and I can't wait to try more things off their menu.

I was quite excited to hear that there is a new Isaan / Lao restaurant in downtown. There are many excellent Thai restaurants in SF but sorely lacking good Isaan / Lao in the city that are authentic, bold, pungent, funky and just be themselves. I thought this was going to be it, but no. I've had the spring rolls with peanut sauce (summer rolls) and tam mak hoong (som tam Lao/ Laotian papaya salad) first and then would try something else. But after those two, I changed my mind. I asked for the check, I paid, I walked out and will keep looking.

This place is amazing and beyond authentic. As someone who grew up in a predominantly Hmong/Lao community, the food here is spectacular. Please give this place a try if you are in the area. I will be bringing all my friends and family here when they visit.

Let's knock off early. Buy some shoes. Something lame like that. Well, I didn't get around to go shopping, with some friends after work today, as I had originally planned. Like Marcia Brady in "The Brady Bunch" something suddenly came up after work, that derailed my So Called Plans. ... So by the time I got my bad self home, around 8:30pm, I was in the mood for some Kao Pad Gai Tod- (fried rice with fried chicken) from Tendernob fave Louder. Amen.

Ordered pad Thai from this Laotian restaurant via Postmates and it was fresh and delicious! The portion size is generous as well. I'll definitely be ordering from this restaurant again!

A small Thai spot is probably one of my favorite spots while living downtown in SF. The vibe was good with Thai songs, ambience is really neatly and tidy. Had the wonderful variety authentic thai food menu with affordable. The staff were all friendly who constantly checked up on us to ensure we were good. I will definitely go back and strongly recommend.

Panang (their spelling) Curry, classic Pad Thai and sticky rice seemed to be great options. The curry was ordered with beef. The dish came served in a small half full bowl with watered down curry sauce, a few random vegetables, and the cheapest beef one could possibly find. The Pad Thai, consisting of a plate with a wad of very thin rice noodles which are more likely found in a spring roll, not the flat rice noodle one would find in the famous dish in Thailand. A minuscule amount of chicken, peanuts and fried tofu accompanied the matted noodles. Neither dish had much flavor, yet and probably more the intended goal, would appeal to pretty much any Farang walking off the street. Our friends make fun of us for making the trek out to the East Side, Danville, Black Hawk, etc for the best Thai in the entire Bay Area but that will have to continue until we discover a closer option.

I only knocked the restaurant down by a star because the servers were pretty pushy with wanting us to leave despite the multitude of empty tables around us. Besides that, the food is really delicious. The papaya salad is amazing if you like spice! There was a great kick and acidity to the papaya salad distributed throughout the fresh vegetables in the dish. I highly recommend! The pumpkin fries were also a great choice: crispy fry with soft pumpkin inside, maintaining the overall pumpkin flavor profile. The sauce they provide on the side (sweet and sour plum sauce), cut through the fry but didn't overwhelm the pumpkin itself. For myself, I got the yellow curry with chicken. The curry dishes do not come with rice, so you will have to order that on the side. The curry is not only a generous portion, but FULL of ingredients. They do not skimp on the meat, potatoes, etc. Highly recommend trying Farmhouse Kitchen for some flavorful Thai dishes!

The interior is well decorated with Thai culture and with the darker tones of the design, it makes the restaurant feel quite fancy. 4.5/5 - Crispy Pork (Moo Krop) Fried Rice - Very savory fried rice dish. Spiced well and very filling. We didn't expect the pork to be cut so large and mixed into the rice, but it was very tender and easy to still eat. We would've expected the pork to be sliced maybe in half or fourths to make the dish feel like a "pork fried rice" than a fried rice + pork mix, but it still worked well and if you love pork, this will definitely be your fix! 5/5 - Pad Thai - We thought the restaurant nailed this classic noodle dish. Filling portions and did not overcook their noodles. You can taste each component of the dish, which speaks to everything not being under or overcooked. We ordered nuts on the side but you would be quite satisfied ordering this if you like pad thai! 4.5/5 - Pad Gra Prow - Appropriate veggie to beef proportion and very flavorful. Minced well and great to complement with your carb dishes (noodle or rice). We thought the dish was slightly oily but it feels well absorbed when eaten with our pad thai. If you have tried the dish before and would like it, this will be satisfactory!

Appetizers- Shrimp Spring Roll: it was pretty good actually. The stand out for me was the peanut sauce. Absolutely delicious. Overall, 8/10. Entrees: got the crab fried rice to share. The flavor was really good. It didn't have too many of the crab pieces though. I would give it a solid 7/10. Also ordered the green curry with roasted duck, which comes with a side of jasmine rice. The curry was good and the duck was tender. I'd give it a 8/10. I would come back here to try other items on their menu. TBH very reasonable pricing and good value since the portions were generous.
