Thought about trying this place for a long time and glad I was finally able to stop by before a performance at SF Symphony. Ordered the papaya salad and thai herb sausage for appetizers. I ordered the dry tom yum noodle while my friend ordered the lobster pad thai (their anniversary special). Service was quick and they were responsive of any needs even though we arrived during the dinner rush. There's outdoor seating if the inside tables are full. Thankfully that day it seems there was enough seating inside that no one had to sit outside. The papaya salad was refreshing and a good shareable portion. The thai herb sausage had a lot of components on the plate so each bite had a different flavor. The entrees were good but could have been better. The dry tom yum noodle flavors were fine but the noodles could have been looser. It was clumped together by the time it got to my table so it was hard to mix the ingredients together without breaking the noodles. I didn't try my friend's lobster pad thai but the noodles seemed particularly soggy and the pad thai noodles seemed overly broken(?). I was really looking forward to dining here again but was a bit disappointed this time with the BBQ chicken I received with my combo lunch order. My usual order is the BBQ chicken with one other dish (two items from lunch combo menu for $17.95), so this time it was the BBQ chicken with the basil chicken. As usual, the combo lunch came with a small salad and rice. There were three of us and we all ordered the brown rice (which is really a combination of brown and red rice). One order came with white rice, but that was immediately remedied when it was called to their attention. My two dining companions received their meals *way* before mine came, which was a bit awkward because they didn't want to start before me even though I encouraged them to eat before it got cold. As usual, the food was great and I would've given them my usual 5 stars, except for the fact that one of the pieces of BBQ chicken (two pieces is the norm for the combo lunch) was the bony back with no meat on it. I picked around the bone, but probably couldn't even get half an ounce of meat from it and the little "Pope's nose" was sticking up in defiance! I just feel this piece should never have been served. Lers Ros has become a comfort restaurant for me now. I come here a lot after playing tennis, and the food is always reliable solid. My favorite dishes: * Thai curry puff -- new favorite appetizer, like a small flaky empanada filled with Thai curry. Saturday night dinner before the ballet did not go off as planned. Firstly, let's start with the appetizers. For our appetizers we had garlic spareribs (quite yummy) and garlic frog legs. The frog legs had great flavor but too dry and stringy. Dinner was a disaster. My daughter had crab pad thai and my granddaughter had chicken pad thai. For both dishes the noodles were undercooked and chewy. The crab pad thai had both me and my daughter sick for 2 days. My son in law had beef pad kee mow which was excellent. That dish was cooked to perfection. I had boar classic chili paste. Great flavor but the boar was so sinewy you couldn't chew it. The rice was normal. My granddaughter ordered the fried bananas dessert and she raved about it. The service was exceptional and the plating was superior. Too bad the majority of food was inedible. Made a reservation for 3 for 6:45 PM on a Sunday evening but honestly did not need it, there were plenty of tables available both inside and outside. It's a nice restaurant with white tablecloths and kind servers, and the menu is rather extensive. The waitstaff were very attentive and refilled our waters often. I got the Pad See Ew with Chicken.
