One piece of chicken had no meat on it; definitely skin and bones! Shouldn't have been served IMO.

I was really looking forward to dining here again but was a bit disappointed this time with the BBQ chicken I received with my combo lunch order. My usual order is the BBQ chicken with one other dish (two items from lunch combo menu for $17.95), so this time it was the BBQ chicken with the basil chicken. As usual, the combo lunch came with a small salad and rice. There were three of us and we all ordered the brown rice (which is really a combination of brown and red rice). One order came with white rice, but that was immediately remedied when it was called to their attention. My two dining companions received their meals *way* before mine came, which was a bit awkward because they didn't want to start before me even though I encouraged them to eat before it got cold. As usual, the food was great and I would've given them my usual 5 stars, except for the fact that one of the pieces of BBQ chicken (two pieces is the norm for the combo lunch) was the bony back with no meat on it. I picked around the bone, but probably couldn't even get half an ounce of meat from it and the little "Pope's nose" was sticking up in defiance! I just feel this piece should never have been served. The basil chicken, though, was as tasty as ever and the waitstaff was efficient and attentive enough to warrant 4 stars.

Lers Ros has become a comfort restaurant for me now. I come here a lot after playing tennis, and the food is always reliable solid. My favorite dishes: * Thai curry puff -- new favorite appetizer, like a small flaky empanada filled with Thai curry. Great flavor * Cashew chicken stir fry -- using nuts in a stir fry is always a great idea, and their sauce is gingery and yummy. * Pad Thai -- reliably good with substantial portion size * Pad Kee Mao -- not overly spicy, great bouncy noodles and bold sauce The quality of ingredients is probably not the best (occasionally the chicken is too... chicken-y) but I usually come here for the volume and flavor, not the pristineness. The waiters are friendly and the ambiance is casual but not dingy. I'll be back soon!

One of my favorite comfort restaurants in Hayesvalley. It's a great place to catch up with friends and have a delicious meal. The interior makes it a warm place. I ordered the crab cakes, pad sew ew, and square noodle soup. Portions were huge and gave a lot of meat. Staff was friendly and attentive

came on a wednesday around 11am, very empty and lots of seating (both inside and outside)! the exterior is cute and i like how roomy the space is. tables are wide but might get cramped if you order family style. service was quick and workers were welcoming. yellow curry rice plate special (6/10): came with a side salad and choice of white/brown rice. side salad was a bit soggy, but misted with some sweetness and had a peanut(?) dressing. overall the salad is too sweet/soft alone. curry was on the sweeter side and had a kick of spice. with my nonexistent spice tolerance it was manageable. the chicken and veggies were tender. for $16, i had a large amount of leftovers and was satisfied with the portions! shrimp pad see-ew (4/10): i got this to-go and ate it around 2hrs after. broccoli is bitter and a lot of the egg was browned, borderline burnt for my liking. only got 3 pieces of shrimp which was disappointing for an extra +$3. felt this wasn't as cost-effective as a rice plate. would return here and try their other menu items, especially the pad thai and their soups. bonus points to them because i love a lunch special

A friend and I were meeting for lunch and he recommended this place. It's best to get there when they open because it does get crowded. The place has outdoor and indoor seating. I side is kinda dim: I got the crispy pork belly over rice lunch special and it didn't disappoint. It's been on mind ever since. Very flavorful, moist and nice side portion

Looking for a delicious thai restaurant? Have you been to @lersros in San Francisco? They have the most amazing thai food ever. We all enjoyed all the plates we ordered. Here's everything we got to try: - coconut soup - original papaya salad - salted egg papaya salad - yellow chicken curry - crispy pork belly - pad see ew with chicken - shrimp pad tai - pad kee mao with beef - stir fry broccoli -@bellieeats

Crispy chicken with fried rice with was AMAZING. Aromatic jasmine rice with super crispy and crispy juicy chicken. It comes with sweet and sour sauce (so good). The pad Thai was surprisingly not impressive. Beautiful restaurant and great service.

Food: chickenwas a very rubbery but the sauce improved the plate Fish was very good. Amazing presentation. ( not deboned ) Service - arrived 40 min before closing on sat afternoon. Server was reluctant to take us but we were hungry and asked nicely. Fish plate was impressive. What I come back, yes indeed.

Made a reservation for 3 for 6:45 PM on a Sunday evening but honestly did not need it, there were plenty of tables available both inside and outside. It's a nice restaurant with white tablecloths and kind servers, and the menu is rather extensive. The waitstaff were very attentive and refilled our waters often. I got the Pad See Ew with Chicken. It was good! The noodles were well-sauced and chewy, and the chicken was in bigger pieces which I liked. Pretty good Thai spot! Next time I would want to try one of their curries.

Lers Ros Thai is a great option for a weekday work lunch. This location is pretty big but can still get busy during lunch time hours. Their menu is massive, so many dishes to choose from. Since I am a creature of habit, the couple of times I've dined here, I ordered the combo lunch special with basil ground chicken, eggplant tofu and brown rice. The size is the perfect lunch portion. Service is quick and water glasses are always filled. One day if I stay in this area late enough, I will try Lers Ros for dinner and sample some of the many unique dishes (venison and alligator) they have on the menu.

My boyfriend and I had been craving Thai food, so we decided to check this place out based on my friend's recommendation. We made a 7PM reservation on a Friday, and the staff was able to seat us right upon our arrival. They were friendly and attentive. Our table was right next by the window facing the street. To be honest, the space was very tight and we felt pretty crammed. The tables next to and behind us were positioned quite close. Here is our order: Crab Roll Cake: Crispy and served hot. Great appetizer. Beef Pat Kee Mow (spicy pan-fried flat noodle with basil, bell peppers, bean sprout, yellow onion): I tried this dish for the first time! Very flavorful and delicious. The spice-level was tolerable for me. Green Curry with Rice: It was spicy and definitely past my spice tolerance level (I have a low spice tolerance). Despite that, I kept going back for more because it was good. Overall, I was not the biggest fan of the ambiance but the food was great! I would come back to try more dishes.

Went here on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed. We ordered for two people: -Fish cakes - comes in 4 pieces and peanut sauce - Tilapia in basil sauce - so huge and so much flavors and spices to die for! - Crab meat fried rice - so much crab meat Overall, the flavors surprised us because the expectation was not very high. I will be coming back here since I'd like to try their other food options for a pescatarian like me. Service was fast, the restaurant is a little loud since it was busy but all good.

Lers Ros Thai Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Lers Ros Thai

Is this Lers Ros under the same ownership as the 2 other Lers Ros restaurants in SF?

I believe so, as they all share the same website.

Does the Tom Yum Koong soup have milk or dairy?

You would be hard pressed to find a thai place in SF that puts dairy in their soups or curries. I am almost positive they do not.

We spent the hours exploring the area nearby, so the "wait" went by relatively fast. When we were finally seated, the service was very prompt and fast. We started off with fried oyster mushrooms. The taste was very addicting and you always end up craving for another piece the moment you finish one. We ordered three dishes including duck breast red curry, steak fried rice (apparently the rice was also cooked in beef fat), and noodle with fried chicken. My favorite was easily the steak fried rice. In terms of all the rice dishes I've had, this was by far one of the top rice dishes I've had. I single handedly ate almost half of it myself. Extremely savory and cooked very well. For dessert, we got their famous butter kaya toast with coconut ice cream. I was already super full from the food earlier, barely had enough room for dessert, but had to force myself to take one final bite before I died in food coma. The dessert was also very tasty, but for me it was the fried rice that stole the show for that night. Overall the wait time here is horrendous, but if you are able to find something to do during the long wait period and is okay with getting a late dinner, then this place is definitely worth it. I don't think I've ever had a Thai restaurant with such unique flavor profile as this one. That being said, if you do mind the wait, then this place is not for you since the waitlist is always inevitably very long. Parking here is also terrible, so street parking is your best bet.

But on this 6th or 7th visit, we decided to take a chance to see if we can get in. We arrived at 4:15 PM on a week night and were told a 12 minute wait. Don't believe them. The restaurant was completely filled when we arrived. The 3 of us were finally seated in a table really meant for 2 about an hour later. Service to take your order was a tad slow. But they were quicker to give you your bill at the end so they can seat the 3O+ folks in the wait list after us. No one checks on you after all your food has arrived We ordered 4 dishes including one of their limited entrees , the soft shell crab. It was good. The duck breast in curry sauce was good too. Hubby especially enjoyed the short rib over rice which is one of his fav dishes there although the meat was under seasoned but tender. We always order the fried papaya salad. Unlike in the past, the dish today was clumpy with areas inside softer and not completely crispy. We were very full and skipped the sole dessert, Kaya toast with ice cream, but have tried it many times before. Good meal, virtually no service to check on you when they are you crowded and busy. Food wasn't as consistent than during less busy days but acceptable.

I only knocked the restaurant down by a star because the servers were pretty pushy with wanting us to leave despite the multitude of empty tables around us. Besides that, the food is really delicious. The papaya salad is amazing if you like spice! There was a great kick and acidity to the papaya salad distributed throughout the fresh vegetables in the dish. I highly recommend! The pumpkin fries were also a great choice: crispy fry with soft pumpkin inside, maintaining the overall pumpkin flavor profile. The sauce they provide on the side (sweet and sour plum sauce), cut through the fry but didn't overwhelm the pumpkin itself. For myself, I got the yellow curry with chicken. The curry dishes do not come with rice, so you will have to order that on the side. The curry is not only a generous portion, but FULL of ingredients. They do not skimp on the meat, potatoes, etc. Highly recommend trying Farmhouse Kitchen for some flavorful Thai dishes!

We shared a pacific omlet--not much crab, lots of shrimp, and nice swiss cheese/scallions but tasted kind of fishy--potatoes were only avg. Son said huevos rancheros were average. Most Yelp reviews only mention brunch but the dinner was awesome--service; food: taste/quality, presentation, portions, prices we phenomenally low for SF ($200 with a bottle of wine for 4 people). We started with the garlic butter clams-small but tasty. Tuna tartar was excellent quality and enough to share. Samosas were more like empanadas--very good with peanut sauce so good it rivaled my own home made. We continued our culinary adventure with crab fried rice-delicious, a large portion and my son who lives in SF and has tried dozens of crab fried rice ranked it in the top tier. The pacific catch rice noodles with crab was also excellent-big portion, lots of crab, tasty. Final entree was their specialty-Mussaman Curry. Wow, tender meat/potatoe "stew" with a very unique flavor from the star anise/cinnamon and peanut--to die for. Creme Brulee was very good with lots of fresh fruit accompaniment My only complaint was a very limited wine selection. Lapisaia will become one of our regular spots for dinner!!!

We would've expected the pork to be sliced maybe in half or fourths to make the dish feel like a "pork fried rice" than a fried rice + pork mix, but it still worked well and if you love pork, this will definitely be your fix! 5/5 - Pad Thai - We thought the restaurant nailed this classic noodle dish. The curry was good and the duck was tender. I'd give it a 8/10. I would come back here to try other items on their menu. TBH very reasonable pricing and good value since the portions were generous.
