Louie's is our favorite pizza in Dallas. As a Chicago boy, I'm biased since they serve tavern-style Chicago pizza. Deep dish is more of a tourist phenomenon. Louie's has been a special dive bar in East Dallas for 38 years. It's located in the Lower Henderson neighborhood. The owners are from Chicago hence all the Chicago memorabilia strewn throughout. It's a little bit of home for this kid from the Southside. There are no frills at Louie's. Just damn good tavern-style (thin crust) pizza and classic cocktails. They pour a mean martini which is probably the most popular pour you see ordered. They'll make whatever classic you like, but you can't go wrong with a dirty martini (loud mouth soup ) If you're up for a little Chitown while visiting Dallas go check them out. You'll love it. Worst service Ive ever had. All I wanted was to have a sandwich with friends. They said the wait for pizza was an hour and a half (egregious). I ordered a sandwich that would take less time and the staff said they can't bring it out earlier than the pizza. And I asked if it was a joke and staff just ignored me and laughed I ordered a patty melt with f**king potato salad. How hard is it to make a sandwich and scoop potato salad from the fridge on a plate??? Apparently impossible. Worst establishment Ive ever been to. Don't come here! read more

All of the reviews you'll read about the piss poor service and ATTITUDE you'll get at Louie's is 100% spot on, especially if you're fortunate enoughto get Autumn as your waitress! She sets the bar for poor attitude and horrible service. When we ordered a second round of drinks, she never delivered my daughter's and when we asked her about the drink 20 minutes later, which it had been that long since we last saw her, instead of saying something like..... I don't know, how about, "sorry, I forgot", "I didn't hear you ask for a round for everyone", or, just go get the effing drink, no, she wanted to argue that we didn't order it. I don't know what prevented me from going all out Jersey attitude on her right there! Maybe because my wife, daughter and her boyfriend, my daughter's, not my wife's, was with me. When she returned with the bill, I wanted to give the classis $1.00 tip to show that we were not stuffing her but wanted her to know that her service was severely subpar. And don't think for a minute that she thanked us for coming in. Nothing. But it's not just lovely Autumn, it actually started when we walked in the door and went to the bar for a drink. I think the bartender is one of the owners, and when I asked what they have for beer, I got No response. Instead he walked away and rung in an order, then grabbed a drink menu, walked over and slid the menu over the bar to me. A patron sitting next to me tried to explain the attitude is an act, as if this was their schtick. I've been to Chicago many times and never received this type of attitude or poor service, EVER! Hell, I can't recall receiving this kind of attitude anywhere. This is definitely a new standard that's been set. As for their pizza at Louie's, it's OKAY, if you know what good pizza should taste like. For Dallas, it's probably considered good, but not worth the drive if you have to get in a car to get there. Not sure how they stay in business because a free market economy has a way of punishing poor quality products and services. Look at Spirit Airlines as a recent example. If you decide to risk it, I'm sure Autumn will be less than enthusiastic to see you. Hopefully she's still employed there because her attitude won't be tolerated anywhere else. read more

The service culture at this place is toxic AF. Waited 1 1/2 hours for food. I walked up to the bar and the waitress walked up and asked if I was doing ok. I hate that I'm going to have to cross Louie's off of our list. We sat at the bar at around 6 on a Friday night. The bartender came to take our order. We don't order martinis often, but thought it sounded good. When my husband ordered, the bartender shot back, "Can you be more specific?" We were both stumped as to what he wanted us to be more specific about, so we both came up with something else to order. When he came back with our drinks, he said, "FYI, I was asking gin or vodka." (Well, if you had said that!). Later on, we heard him pull the same line on another couple. FYI, Mr. Bartender, YOU should have been more specific about what you needed to know from us! I went here one weekend with some friends and we ate at the bar. We shared a few Large 14" Pepperoni Pizzas $17.00 each. The crust is cracker like, crunchy and semi charred. The cheese has a good pull and the sauce was tasty. The pepperoni topping was a little stingy but a solid pizza overall. It is a pretty small place so parking is limited. The service was alright at best but I would gladly go back for their pizza. read more

My family and I have been regulars here, but after this visit we will never return. The hostess was rude from the moment we walked in, rolling her eyes and snidely questioning our age, implying we didn't belong there. She has been notorious for being nasty to customers, but we decided to let it go in the past because we enjoyed the food. However, this time was the last. We do not tolerate being harassed by staff. We were told by our waitress from the start that our pizza would take 30 to 45 minutes, but after waiting over an hour and a half we still had no food except for two cold entrees we asked the come out with the rest of the food that we didn't touch. When my family member politely and respectfully asked why our pizza was taking so long, especially while other tables, including what appeared to be family members of the owner, were being served first despite coming 30 to 45 minutes after us, the waitress immediately started cussing and taunting us. The staff was miserable and extremely unprofessional for cussing at customers for questioning why the food was taking nearly two hours to come out. She continued her behavior even following us and harassing us outside into the parking lot, yelling and using foul language because we decided to go elsewhere and refused to pay for food we never received. The manager did nothing to resolve the situation and was equally unprofessional, escalating the conflict instead of addressing it. We have always paid for our meals, but in this case they did not deserve our money. The service was absolutely unacceptable from start to finish. The staff from start to finish was miserable, and none of them deserve to be in the service industry. They were entirely in the wrong, and this restaurant has serious management and staff issues. An interesting establishment. Hard to find a parking space. There's almost always a line waiting to get in when they open at 5:30 because of the small dining area. Ambience is a dive bar. First you have to realize that it seems they're kind of pissed you even came there. Definitely the most unfriendly service you will find in Dallas based on my experience but that's part of the charm. They do not want you to set the pace for dinner. In fact, they will tell you it takes over an hour to get a pizza which is not accurate. They say that to get you to order as quickly as possible. Martinis are basic, but also very good. We really like the crab finger appetizer and had two of them. The Greek salads are fantastic. We had two to split between six people, and there was some left over. We went for the pizza, which is ok, but frankly not great. Slightly overcooked in our experience. Prices are reasonable. Lucky for them they already put in a 20% gratuity since they were six of us I guess. As I asked one of my friends at the table about the tip and if he wanted to add more, he said "I'm not tipping people to be insulted". That kind of summed up the wait staff experience. read more

You can build your own pizza and there are burger, sandwich, and entree options as well. i love this pizza. This was my first time here! We went on an early evening and parking was a little hard to find but we managed to and I was thankful because I was really craving pizza! We both were! I imagined that many people may have given up after looking for a spot after say 4-5 minutes so we were close but we found one! We walked in and waited to be seated which didn't take long at all. We got a small table and I we ordered our drinks and appetizer. We had the crab claws which came out in a timely manner along with some delicious bread which was fresh and hot! They were delicious and a good appetizer to be shared for 2 people. I think there were like 10-12 in there so if you have more than 2 people you should order more. Next, we ordered a large pizza with pepperoni, Italian sausage, black olives and jalapeños which took a bit to come out but they were busy but when your hungry it just seems longer. It was totally worth it though because it came out hot and fresh and tasted great. The crust was thin and they cooked it perfectly! Cheers to the chef that prepared it! We will def go back again and see if this was a 1 time thing as far as the deliciousness of our meal and hopefully it was not! Then I'll post an update. I'm hoping we score a parking spot next time!
