The food at this establishment was delicious and you can tell that the pasta is made in house! They accommodated to our large party very well, and food came out at good speeds. Spicy Rigatoni 8/10: It says spicy in the name but I did not expect it to be spicy each time I took a bite, lol. Very delicious and addicting! Sauce is savory with some sweetness. Chicken Pesto 9/10: I am addicted to these pasta shapes and textures! It was truly so delicious with good amounts of shredded chicken and the toppings are delicious. I had them as leftovers as well and they did not disappoint! Calamari 8/10: These are crispy and the calamari is fresh, good sauces, juicy lime, and some sour vegetables on the side. Very delicious appetizer! Truffle Bread 7/10 : So delicious! It came with some cream spread on top and the bread is fluffy but crispy, with a cheese and a nice truffle taste! Lasagna 6/10 : This portion is definitely a bit smaller and I would say it's a good ol' lasagna. Nothing special except for the sheets which were thin and fresh, and the sauce is a bit salty. Tiramisu 10/10: This was so delicious! It came with some crispy chocolate toppings and it wasn't too strong but definitely so delicious, would recommend. I arrived in Dallas to dine at North Italia, coming from Houston It took me about three hours to get here. Me and my family ordered our food, but the noodles were extremely undercooked and very hard. The manager never came by to check on our order, and we still had to pay the full amount despite waiting an extra 20 minutes for our food. We also received no replacement waters until almost the time we asked for the check. To make matters worse, the extra water came with a gnat in it. I had a disappointing experience at North Italia, specifically with the bartender, Mia. I sat at the bar for roughly two hours, and from the beginning her attitude came across as unfriendly and dismissive. Spanish is my first language, so throughout the evening I spoke to her primarily in Spanish, along with some English. Each time I spoke to her in Spanish, she appeared to understand what I was asking because she would respond in English and fulfill the request. I even asked her what her name was in Spanish and she replied with no hesitation. Later in the evening, after I asked for a to go box in Spanish, she suddenly told me that she did not speak Spanish. She then told me that I was speaking too low and that it was offensive for me to assume she spoke Spanish.( which I never assumed ). That interaction caught me completely off guard. At no point during the approximately two hours I was sitting there did she simply say, "I'm sorry, I don't speak Spanish. Could you please speak to me in English?" Had she said that, there would have been absolutely no issue. What stood out even more was that another customer sitting next to me witnessed the interaction. Afterward, he told me that he also felt she handled the situation very poorly and said, "Don't let her ruin your night." He even pointed out that she could have avoided the entire situation by simply saying that she did not speak from the beginning that I spoke Spanish. Instead, the situation was handled in a confrontational and unnecessarily disrespectful way. I was not trying to offend her or make assumptions about her background I was simply speaking in my native language and, based on our interactions throughout the night, believed she understood me. People working in hospitality, especially bartenders who interact directly with customers all night, should know how to communicate professionally when there is a misunderstanding or language barrier. A simple, polite clarification would have resolved everything. Unfortunately, the way Mia handled the situation made me feel unwelcome and completely changed my impression of the restaurant. Management should address how situations like this are communicated to guests because there was a much more professional and respectful way this could have been handled. read more

I've been to a North Italia in Houston and loved it, so I generally knew what to expect when I came to this location, and I won't lie, my expectations were high. They currently have seasonal drinks based off of popular songs. I got the maneater, which off the description you would expect to be a sickly sweet sort of drink. It wasn't too sweet, and had the perfect balance of flavors. Would definitely recommend you try it if you're on the fence. I wasn't too big a fan of my entree (strozzapreti), but loved the Caesar salad and garlic bread. Our waitress was lovely, attentive and make sure everything moved along quickly. I think this experience made it obvious that this is a chain rather than a stand alone, but if you're looking for a quick fix of Italian, it's a decent option. read more

This wasn't my first time but I do think it's worth a review. I love North Italia. I've been to the one in Dallas and the one in Legacy West and both times were top-notch. This time a friend and I stopped in for a quick bite before a show at the House of Blues. We had the garlic truffle bread which by itself is just an experience everyone should have once in their life. The viscosity of the dollop of butter that goes on top is not anything you've ever called butter before. It's like a cloud of just pure deliciousness. It's so light and airy you don't even feel guilty that you're smothering your bread in it. And the bread is in small cube shapes--so it's small morsels and you don't eat an entire loaf (which could easily happen with that cloud butter). We also split a pizza which was great but I can't recall too much because I was still having a moment with the garlic bread. I've had other things like their meatballs, salmon, and the short ribs. All amazing. I will have to take pictures next time I go and share more things. read more

We were very disappointed with our experience at North Italia. There were four of us, and we waited approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food. During that entire time, no one offered us a solution or a clear explanation of what was happening. The only response we received was that the restaurant was extremely busy. What was most frustrating was that, after all that waiting, we never received our meals. We eventually decided to ask for the check and left the restaurant hungry, without having eaten anything. To make matters worse, we were charged for the appetizers we ordered, although we were not charged for the lemonades. In addition, we never received an apology for the delay or the inconvenience caused. We understand that delays can happen, but the lack of communication, empathy, and customer service was simply unacceptable. We expected much more from a restaurant with North Italia's reputation. Had lunch at North Italia and it was so delicious! First, Trisha our server, was phenomenal and remember me from a previous visit. She's great! The restaurant has such a nice and luxurious atmosphere it felt great to be there. I had the chicken parm and it's one of my favorites now. It came with an app, and entree, and dessert! We got the Meatballs, which came with two big ones to share, the baked lasagna, and then the tiramisu. We also added on a plate of bread with riccota spread and I enjoyed a chilled glass of white pino! With sharing the meal, the cost was great for a night out! We've both been before in the past, so I am more than sure I will be back! Overall highly recommend for a girls night dinner, date night, or even a treat yourself moment! We had to small kids in the group and we didn't get food until more than 1.5 hours in. Then almost another 40 minutes to get our checks. In total I spent over 3 hours for a brunch that probably should have taken half that time. This was a three-digit dinner, and while the food was good, the overall experience was disappointing because our server was barely present. We came in for dinner but also specifically wanted to take home a salad for lunch the next day. We even had a picture of the salad we were looking for, but our server was not familiar with which salad it was. We were trying to ask questions about the menu, portions, and whether dishes were meant to be shared, but we felt like our questions were more of an inconvenience than something she wanted to help with. The to-go salad was also poorly packed and not prepared in a way that made sense for taking home. The restaurant was not busy, yet we had to track down our server for drink refills and basic attention throughout the meal. At the end of the dinner, we eventually gave up waiting for her to return to collect our payment and had to ask another employee for our receipt and help completing checkout. I want to add that I regularly visit North Italia Plano and have always had great experiences there. The service has never been an issue, and the staff has always been helpful and knowledgeable when answering questions about the food or portions. Unfortunately, this Dallas location has a lot of room for improvement when it comes to hospitality and attention to guests. The food was good, but at this price point, the service and overall experience matter just as much. The food was disgustingly SALTY! We had a party at seven ladies who had come to eat dinner when we were in town for a conference and of the seven meals four of them were so salty we did not eat them. The only reason I'm giving this restaurant to stars is because of the most fantastic and kind server that we had that night. She was prompt, kind, welcoming, and extremely apologetic for all of our meals being salty and nobody eating dinner. The server did take the meal off of my bill, which I did appreciate and did not ask for, but she was kind enough to do without me asking. We stopped by North Italia for DFW Restaurant Week and the food was great but the service was disappointing. The ambience is modern and beautiful with lots of real plants. We tried the banana coffee bread, arugula avocado salad, and Sicilian meatballs. The bread was the standout, the salad was fresh but needed more lemons, and the meatballs were solid. For entrées we had the short rib Tuscan hash and pollo fritto, both delicious. Dessert was a win with Italian donuts and dark chocolate gelato. The only downside was the service. After our drinks were brought out it was like our server disappeared. We had to constantly look around for her and at one point noticed she was sitting at the back talking. It got to the point where we started asking for everything at once, including boxes and the check, because we weren't sure when we would see her again. It was a refined down town Italian restaurant. The restaurant was neat as a pin. The servers were on the spot. The menu was a little limited, but made up for it in bold flavors. As an appetizer we had the truffle buttered garlic bread. That was great and very different from most other similarly titled dishes. I had "The Pig Pizza", very good. The rest of our table had the lasagna and a chicken pasta dish that I cannot pronounce or spell, but the girls loved it. The ambiance was just right for a Friday night out before a musical show. **UPDATE**: I was reminded today why North Italia continues to be one of my favorite spots in the city--it's the kind of place where hospitality still matters. This is the restaurant I brought my mom to for her birthday, and I remember how wonderful Natalie was that day--gracious, attentive, and full of good vibes as we celebrated. Fast forward to today, I brought my nieces in for a little "big girl lunch," and while we had some temperature issues with a few of the dishes, what stood out most was how the situation was handled. I mentioned the food concerns to Natalie, who is now the onsite manager, and once again, she was exceptional. I wasn't asking for anything--just sharing feedback--but she went out of her way to make it right, even comping the app and my favorite Strozzapreti dish. That kind of response is rare, and it speaks volumes. I didn't leave with a perfect meal today, but I left with a perfect reminder: great customer service can truly turn a day around. North Italia remains a regular part of my rotation--I'm here a couple times a month, and it rarely disappoints. Despite being a chain, whether I'm dining in or picking up, the experience is consistently solid. And, the food always hits that "comfort Italian food" sweet spot! Favorites? I have several, but usually go for the Strozapretti pasta, Italian Meatballs, or Chicken Parmesan. They're all flavorful, satisfying, and well-portioned. I've also had the Calamari Fritti, and Pizza (Naples White and Funghi)...both are fantastic. And don't sleep on dessert: the Tiramisu and Olive Oil Cake are just the right amount of indulgent. All the dishes I've tried have a slightly elevated look and taste, which the "foodie" in me greatly appreciates. This is a belated review from our brunch experience during Restaurant Week, but I think most of these menu items should be on the regular menu. First of all, it was SO MUCH FOOD for the money. I highly recommend you check them out if they participate again next year. We started out with the cacio e pepe arancini and the banana coffee cake, which is SO GOOD. It was like dessert. The arancini were also delicious. I liked the pesto aioli it came with. Then we had the Pollo Fritto and Breakfast Rosa Pizza. I thought the pollo fritto would come with red sauce because I misinterpreted the menu and thought the "gravy" meant like Sunday gravy, so I was expecting something like a chicken parm situation with an egg, so that was a bit of a let down for me, but the dish was very good still and those crispy hash potato balls were the best. I wish more brunch places would do this. The pizza was delicious, and we packed up most of our main dishes because we were already getting so full at this point. For dessert, we split the Italian Donuts and an order of the pistachio gelato. The donuts were so good and fluffy, and we loved the pistachio gelato. Nice nutty flavor and so smooth. Where to begin... My boyfriend took me here for Valentine's Day and the ambiance was perfect. From the lighting to the decor to the friendly staff, even to our great, accommodating and very friendly waiter, Iyapo. We started out with the wild shrimp scampi which was soaking in garlic butter and tomatoes. It was juicy and had a great flavor. I really enjoyed dipping the bread in the sauce and we pretty much devoured that. We also had the Italian meatballs on top of some creamy polenta. The meatballs were absolutely perfect and big too. The polenta was nothing I've had before and it was super creamy and delicious! Our entree was the Prosciutto and chicken Parmesan which was a pretty big portion. The chicken had a great flavor and the layer of cheese on top completed it. The pasta was on another level and it tasted like homemade pasta. The sauce wasn't too overpowering and paired perfectly with the chicken. We then tried the Spicy vodka pasta and it had the same pasta as the chicken parm. The sauce wasn't too spicy and it was also delicious. Now dessert!!! I love love love tiramisu and this one was really yummy. I'm not a coffee drinker, so to me the espresso flavor was stronger than the tiramisu I've had in the past. It was still good and the chocolate balls on top was the cherry on top. I usually enjoy North Italia, but tonight was rough. I ordered an Aperol Spritz for $15 and asked for a little extra Aperol because I like it more tart. No one mentioned an extra charge. When the bill came, there was an additional $12 for a single shot of Aperol. If I had known it was twelve dollars, I would've just ordered a second drink. The server wasn't rude. She didn't make the situation worse, but she also didn't try to help much. She went to the manager, came back later, and apologized, but nothing was resolved. The manager was very rude. When I explained that the charge hadn't been communicated and asked if anything could be done, she seemed to care less about reconciling the situation. She gave no explanation, made no effort to fix it, and just walked away. It felt dismissive and unprofessional. I also want to be upfront that I didn't tip. This is actually the very first time I've ever not tipped someone, but the complete lack of effort to explain, compensate, or resolve the issue made it hard to justify one. It wasn't personal toward the server, but the way the situation was handled left a bad impression. I don't mind paying for add ons, but guests should be told about them and treated with basic respect when they ask about their bill. This experience missed the mark. read more
