Really wanted to go to Parker's Lighthouse on this day but was caught in the hour when they are preparing for dinner service, so we were told to wait for an hour. Given that, we took the time to walk the pier and look at other options. Louisiana Charlie's had a live reggae singer out on the patio. The catchy vibes drew me to the door. I've passed by the restaurant many times before but never actually eaten here. The lines outside are always long, and looking back, now I understand. The restaurant lets diners in groups. You're handed a menu and by the time you are let in through the ropes, you should already know what you want. The hostess rings you up for your meal before you are seated. Because there are outside patio seating and seating on the back end of the restaurant, I can understand why. It may be easy for diners and dashers to wine and dine and dash, which is a practical business tactic to require diners to pay beforehand. We ordered a plate of snow crab boil and added jumbo shrimp. I've had a lot of shrimp boils and this just hit the mark on flavor. The Cajun seasoning was not overly salty and was perfectly balanced. The sauce clung well to the seafood and you taste flavor in every bite. This plate was huge a couple of people to share and we had plenty of leftovers. The delicious garlic bread served on the side was meant to slop up that delicious sauce. I appreciated that the sausages were sliced thinly. Corn was soaked in flavor and red potatoes were perfectly al dente. My daughter had the Grilled sandwich. She's not much of a slaw girl but she finished the entire meal. The seasoned fries also begged to be dipped into the Cajun sauce from the boil. The servers were attentive. The afternoon was a great way to end the day. The cool vibes and the sound of chill, live music really added to this positive experience.

Went to Long Beach Shoreline Village Saturday 03.14.2026 for dinner 4pmsh. Found this place in the village. We wanted to try out some soul food. Checked in to the front. Come to find out that this establishment does not have Service Waiters. You must order up front, get a number, and find a seat. Ordered a cocktail, Link Sandwich, Shrimp and Crab Jambalaya Soup. Received our number and sat all the way to the back. Found a nice place overseeing the ocean with a back set of City Building and a light house. Within 15 minutes we received our food and drinks. No complaints on the food. All was delicious. The presentation was good. The Collard Greens was fresh as well as all the entrees we received. All was Yummy. The service we received was from a bus boy. I forgot his name, he was tall and Hispanic. This guy did a very good job. He was nice and courteous. Always checking up on patrons as well as saying by to all the patrons that were leaving. Great personality. Overall, I would come back for some soul food. This is one of a few places you can eat soul food in the city of Long Beach with a nice view. If you like soul food and you don't mind ordering your food first, this is the place for you! The only thing I noticed was the tables were sticky and grimy. They could use some work. Parking is very tough to find. You can be frustrated pending on day and hour you come to shoreline. They validate parking which is a good thing.

This was a great find, walking along the pier we're happy we stopped for lunch. Great food selection, prices and views. Sitting along the water enjoying a nice meal was a great experience. We will be back to try other items, we enjoyed their Catfish plates with Mac and cheese, greens and Yams. Everything was delicious.

overall experience 6/10 Mixed feelings ! for some time now I've been wanting to try the spot so I finally had the chance to do so and I must say I'm a little disappointed. Let's start with the service one thing that threw me off. Was you have to pay before you sit down, which means you are looking at the menu outside of the restaurant so I strongly encourage you look at the menu on your way to the restaurant so you know exactly what you want and able to sit down faster. The staff was pretty nice for the most part and very helpful on the things that we had questions or concerns about the ambience had a little detail that was interesting. One of my favorites was like the pictures now to the food. This establishment does not serve hard liquor, only wine and beer, which is OK, but they did not have many beers available a lot of it was out of stock. I ordered the catfish dinner with three sides the yams, the greens and the mac & cheese. The catfish was delicious very crispy fresh and had flavor the macaroni and cheese. Definitely not the best but it was doable. After adding my own seasoning the greens I drowned in hot sauce now the yams was my absolute favorite of the sides , like I would definitely order the yams and the catfish again the view was beautiful. Of course we sat on the balcony. It was a pretty day so we were able to see the lighthouse and the bolts and just enjoy the fresh air. I'm not sure if I will be back although there is those gumbo fries. I still want to try, but I do hope if I do return that some of the things have changed so overall I give my experience a 6 out of 10.

Food was very good, outdoor seating is highly recommended because you can see the lighthouse right next to you, service is not the best but the server was friendly and doing her best. The only downside was the ribs that was very dry and hard that I was eating hard jerky than meat. Everything else was delicious, well seasoned and portion was big and good. I do want to comeback to try other foods. Very enjoyable place to date.

The Yard House is my usual go-to whenever I come through the shoreline, but after a couple of runs, I decided to try other eateries here. This place was first in line. It was a last minute decision to come through, but I was a cool and gloomy day - perfect for a bit of stroll post lunch. Dragged my Mom with me. We know how busy this entire area gets so we came through early enough to be the 1st customers in line. Mom went for the chicken wing dinner with cornbread and coleslaw. I went for the 1lb crawfish and asked if they can serve it mild spice (or light Cajun, as they described it.) We also put in an order of fried oysters with collared greens to start. Being first customers, we got first choice with seating. We told them we'd be outdoors overlooking the marina. They gave us a number and off we went. But first: bloody Mary's! Ohhh. They were delish. We were off to a good start. Wasn't long before the fried oysters came through. Made to order hot with a side of collared greens. These were amazing, too. Batter had a nice blend of seasonings and crisp and oyster had good flavor. Collared greens were great palate cleansers. Next were our mains. I haven't had crawfish for a minute, so I was a bit excited. Sadly, I couldn't get past more than 3 pieces and 2 slices of sausage: it was incredibly spicy! So it made me question - if this is light Cajun, I can only imagine what regular seasoning is. Or! Did they not lighten the dish at all? Mom suggested to take it home: Hubbers loves spicy stuff. Needless to say, I was still hungry, so I went back to the counter and ordered a catfish po'boy. (Needed a guaranteed non-spicy thing on their menu. Also forgot to take a picture, that's how hungry I was!) It didn't take long for that to get to the table either. Even more sad, the whole thing was bland! I can taste the freshness of the veggies and the fish, but it just really lacked seasoning. I ate half - seasoned each bite with table salt - just because I was hungry. (Took the other half home and had it for lunch the next day - seasoned it with what I had at home to make it better.) I got to taste a few bites off Mom's plate and she picked a winner, I'll say that. FOOD: 2. At least on my end. SERVICE: 4. Staff were friendly, for sure. VALUE: 2. Food I got was not worth what I paid for. PARKING: Private lot for a fee. They validate here. OVERALL: 2.75. So, to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. There are other places to there first before considering a comeback... ... if at all.

Food: Food was definitely not what I expected. I expected a lot from this place and I honestly should have lowered my expectations. There was a special of the day which was "Catfish & 5 jumbo shrimps. & 2 sides." For $32, so I'm thinking oh it's gna be a bang for your buck! BOY WAS I WRONG. It was ONE cat fish fillet & 5 medium sized shrimps.. For the sides we got Cajun fries (which was soggy and not crispy at all) & corn bread (that looked half eaten & tasted like the smell of like a lemon cleaning supply scent). We also got the beef rib brisket sandwich. Which was a 2/5... The beef rib brisket itself was okay, I've had better. The brioche buns were ehhh. It looked like a sloppy Joe.. but beef brisket. There was no effort in plating the food or anything. Mac n cheese was probably the only good thing I had there... Service: Service is great tho! Staff is very friendly and nice. I wish their food was up to par with the service. Ambiance : you have to pay for parking. Lots of seating inside and out.

$ 23.20 (Food: red beans and rice. Drink: water) Louisiana Charlie's monologue: I do believe that having this restaurant on the shoreline is a great option. It's not your typical beach area type cuisine. So it definitely stands out and creates a unique experience. Also, I can admit that I did visit this restaurant a few years back and wasn't impressed. But, I decided to give it another chance. You know the saying "time changes everything"... Time was on both of our sides. The red beans and rice dish was wowwwww. A bit spicy for me, but the flavor was there. And that cornbread, sheesh. I should have asked for some bread to take home. Delicious! Needless to say, I'll make another visit and likely get the same dish. I will sit on the back patio again; inside dining didn't appear to be very attractive. Oh, you must know that you'll place your food order as soon as you walk to the front door. After you pay, you'll go find a seat. When you're in the mood for some Lousiana cuisine and you're in Long Beach, head on over to this establishment. I think you'll enjoy it. P.s. - There is no table service, well not at the table I was sitting at. Take a look at my pics. You'll see what I'm talking about. So lower your expectations to the idea of customer service. You've been warned!

RANCID MEAT. SPOILED FOOD. DO NOT EAT HERE. We ordered a to-go meal from Louisiana Charlie's baby back ribs with baked beans and fries and what we received was absolutely disgusting. The meat was grey in the inside, smelled off, and tasted rancid, like it had been sitting out way too long or reheated multiple times. One bite was enough to know something was very wrong. We immediately stopped eating because we were genuinely concerned about getting sick. I have attached photos because the color of the meat alone says everything. Baby back ribs should not look like this. This was not fresh, not safe, and not acceptable to serve to anyone. What made the experience even worse was trying to contact the restaurant. We called both phone numbers listed online multiple times. 7 times the first day and 4 times the next day -- and no one answered. No voicemail, no call back, nothing. If you're serving food this bad, the least you can do is be reachable when customers have a problem. We threw the entire meal away because it did not seem safe to eat. Total waste of money and honestly pretty concerning. I would strongly recommend checking your food carefully if you order from here, because what we received should never have left the kitchen. This is unacceptable id like a refund! Order: #103 Date: 28 FEB 2026 Time: 4:56 PM Server: Luis Z Never again.

Was not planning to eat and drink here but when we were walking by we saw a sign offering Shrimp N Grits, one of our favorites so we decided to stop here. The food was excellent. We also ordered a fried catfish kids meal and it was great too. The Shrimp n Grits was a very good portion. The service is a little different here than most restaurants. You go up to the cashier, pay then go find a seat and your food will be brought out. The staff that brought out the food were great and brought us water as well as my beer and food. The staff working the front need to go to Porto's, who has the same system of ordering then finding a seat, to see how it can be handled excellently; because Porto's does an incredible job. The hostess at the front AND the cashier both seemed stressed and there were not that many people in line, although, it did get longer as we joined the line. They were not rude or anything like that, but you could feel the tension and lack of friendliness. Not so in the back, they were very friendly. And of course, being on the boardwalk and seeing the beautiful landscape, or should I say "seascape" is never a bad thing. Overall, I would be happy to come back here. The plates look like they had some great portions but I don't know if I would order anything different. Both items we got were so good.

Lime margarita on the rocks with tajin rim
    Thu-Ha T.

We were given menues outside at the front entrance and were instructed to order first before getting seated. When we were ready, we placed our orders and paid upfront at the register with an option to include tip upfront or provide at the table. We opted to leave tip at the table. We were then seated to a table and opted to sit out back in the patio area. The blackened catfish was spicy, very seasoned, and on the salty side but was cooked nicely and came out hot :) The coleslaw and cajun fries were good. The creole jambalaya was flavorful. The southern fried wings were good and was a fan favorite for the kid. The lime margarita on the rocks with tajin rim tasted light. Overall, we enjoyed the meal while enjoying a nice view of the marina. Unfortunately after delivery of the food and drinks at our table, the server and staff were never seen again :(

    Shrimp PO Boy

I recently visited Louisiana Charlie's in Long Beach and ordered the shrimp po' boy with Cajun fries, along with chicken wings served with fries and yams. The shrimp po' boy was the clear standout. The shrimp were perfectly fried, well-seasoned, and generously portioned. It came fully dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and a flavorful house-made remoulade, all on a toasted French roll that held everything together nicely. Easily the highlight of the meal. I had a bit of a love-hate relationship with the Cajun fries. The seasoning was solid and flavorful, but they didn't have the crispiness I prefer--especially compared to their regular fries. That said, portions were generous across the board, and nothing felt skimpy. The atmosphere and service were both great. You order and pay first, then take a seat. Sarah at the register did an excellent job helping us and made the process smooth. The only minor drawback is that if you want to add anything later, you have to walk back up front to pay--but that's a small inconvenience in an otherwise very positive experience. Overall, great food, great service, and a great visit. I'll definitely be back.

Amazing amazing food! Great seasoning. You order food, pay for it upfront and then get seated. The sooner you get there the better, close to opening to be exact. They open at 11a, and the lines start around 12:30p. I got there at 1p, and only stood for 25 minutes, not bad at all. I went with a family of 5 for my brothers birthday and we enjoyed everything Jumbo fried shrimp was delicious with amazing batter! Snow crab legs boil came on a huge platter with 4 clusters. For $88. Loved the seasoning, maybe wish it wasn't as loose. Catfish was amazing, greatly fried, and perfect sauce. Maybe the bread a tad more soft but it wasn't terrible. The wings were flavorful and spicy. Great Cajun seasoning on the fries. They were a hit. Also the side salad was tasty, and big for a size. Fresh picks on my plate. Loved the sausage, corn and and potatoes as well. With validation the parking was $8.40 Plenty of parking in the morning but starts to get packed around 1p. Nice Louisiana decor and we sat by the water which was a beautiful touch. Mt family and I enjoyed ourselves. You must go!

Louisiana Charlie's Long Beach Shoreline Village Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Louisiana Charlie's Long Beach Shoreline Village

If I get there Sunday at 12 PM, what will the wait time be like?

Are they open today on Labor Day?

Yes. It says they're open until 7pm, but I would suggest to call just to confirm. You're welcome!

Are reservations required or can we make reservations?

Just do a walk in. They do not accept reservations.

Are they open on Superbowl Sunday 2023?

    Do you have heat lamps?

    Do they take reservations?

Yes but everyone in your party has to be present or they won't seat you. So if you say you have 10 people and only 9 are there, they make you wait. If you have 1 extra, they'll put you back on the waiting list for a table (even if one is available).

Wondering if they are open today It would be nice if they would update their website to indicate their holiday hours or at least have someone to answer the phone?

Your best bet is to order through Uber eats or something. They have worst customer service. They never recovered after Covid with their environment. They don't have everything on the menu, they don't answer the phone and food quality is not good.

Do the collard greens have pork?

I'm unsure I've never had them

Do the alligator legs here taste good?

Yes. Tastes like chicken! :p Lol. Yes they do. IMO, all the food I've tried here has been very good!

    Parking lot; valet?

I didn't encounter a valet on a Saturday night, but you do have to pay to park.

I eventually got up and asked if someone was going to serve us. The employee told me that the server was busy and that we would have to keep waiting. I politely asked if there was only one server assigned to each section because I was simply trying to understand the situation. Instead of answering professionally, she rolled her eyes at me and responded in a rude tone. There was absolutely no reason for that, as I asked my question respectfully. The most frustrating part is that even after that conversation, no one ever came to our table. We ended up leaving without receiving any service. I understand that restaurants can get busy, but there is no excuse for completely ignoring guests or treating them disrespectfully. I hope management addresses both the customer service and the staff's attitude so that other guests don't have the same experience.
