Great BBQ, but the hidden gem for me was the jalapeños cheddar sausage. Cheesy, meaty with a little spice kick - awesome. Add a brisket sandwich on to that and that was a filling lunch! Next time I'll ask for a sausage sandwich!

Two meat two side combo: ribs, brisket, potato salad, baked beans, and two corn bread (paid extra for one corn bread)

An absolute keeper! My Brothers Keeper BBQ will definitely be my forever bbq spot! Can't miss this spot because there is a huge BBQ smoker in front of the restaurant. Visited on a Sunday afternoon and even though the line was long, the wait is totally worth it! Ordered the combo with 2 meats: ribs and brisket with 2 sides: baked beans with bacon and potato salad, extra corn bread because you can't just have one, and lemonade. The ribs were seasoned perfectly and fell off the bone! The brisket was juicy and flavorful! The potato salad and baked beans hit the spot! Lastly, the corn bread was moist and delicious! The lemonade was fresh and not too sweet, just the way I like it! Love the picnic benches that provided an opportunity for strangers, neighbors, and friends to meet and talk and enjoy the best bbq, weather, and music; all of it brought back memories from good times! Street and neighborhood parking was no problem. We sat next to a couple who had a dog (Ruby) and staff from the Brothers Keeper BBQ gave her a real doggy bone treat! By the looks of it, she enjoyed it!

Got a side of Grammy"s Potato Salad and 1 lb of Pork Spareribs. Wow, everything was delicious. The potato salad was creamy and smooth. I think I tasted a little bit of mustard in the potato salad? The rib seasoning was flavorful and well balanced. The meat was tender. The sauce had the right amount of tanginess. Service was very friendly. There was a limited amount of street parking. I opted to park around the corner in the residential area.

After bookmarking the pop-up during the quarantine, we finally made it, only this time he has his own spot! Facility: A: This is the old MVP location but much better. Clean and simple. Bathroom to wash hands is conveniently located. - clean covered picnic tables Food: A: Beef Rib - We don't eat pork so we were so glad he had beef. It was flavorful and tender. It was pricey though. The Mac and cheese was so good. Something about the seasoning!!! A+: Service. Everyone was nice and we even got a free sample to try while we waited. We can't wait to go back again, and this will be our go-to bbq spot in Long Beach.

Friendly, hospitable staff, awesome outdoor vibe with feel-good tunes, accompanied by great bbq and sides! We tried the BBQ Sampler which was perfect for us because we are usually pretty indecisive and want to try a little of everything. We were able to sample the collards prior to committing, which was a great touch. They were on the spicy side, but I really liked them. They were too spicy for the rest of my party, but they are all pretty sensitive to heat. I have some allergies and one of the employees was gracious enough to come out to our table to let me know what ingredients were used and that I could safely enjoy everything our group ordered. I appreciated the table visit and that the front of house staff inquired properly about my allergy concerns. My favorites were the spare ribs and the potato salad. Honorable mention for the burnt ends and the banana pudding. The house-made lemonade was the perfect balance of tart and sweet. The mustard dipping sauce was also FIRE. I was happy to accept the offer to take an extra side home when I requested a take out box. The only thing that I think we should have tried was the cornbread and honey butter. I thought it came with the sampler, but I believe we were supposed to add it on. I think the price point for the value of the labor and love that goes into smoking meats was fair. I am looking forward to going back the next time we are on that side of town!

Living one block from here, I was excited to support a local business! The spot is cool, it's the original MVP location in front of the house on 4th street. Street parking only, picnic table seating. FOOD** It wasn't bad food, but not too great by any means either. The Brisket was dense and dry inside. Also a bit too salty. 2.5/5 stars The Mac&Cheese and Potato Salad were 3.5/5 stars Also pretty good but nothing amazing here Sitting here disappointed after paying $39.79 for a one person meal With these premium prices I expected much more Next time I want BBQ I'll be heading to LALC in Seal Beach like usual

Absolutely amazing BBQ! I previously stopped by after work and everything was sold out. So I came back the next day an hour earlier and got lucky to order what I wanted: ribs, spicy collard greens, baked beans, and corn bread. Everything was absolutely amazing. The ribs were incredibly flavorful. They were tender, smoky, and the top almost tasted like candied meat in a way. Half a pound came out to be two ribs, and since I was so hungry I didn't know if that would be enough, but the ribs had more meat on them than past ribs I've tried. They were absolutely delicious! The spicy greens were fresh and flavorful, and I loved that it had meat in it. The baked beans were delicious with the bacon, though a bit more on the sweeter side which is good depending on how you like your baked beans. And pro tip: definitely don't pass up the corn bread! I need to come back and try all the other menu items.

Mmmmmmm! I don't eat barbecue that often but when I came across the page on Instagram, it looked so good and I always love to eat at these small local businesses. I just move back from the Bay Area to SoCal and I used to live in Long Beach very close to this restaurant, very cool neighborhood! The brisket was so tender, the ribs fell off the bone and to be honest I could eat like 10 corn muffins thank God we only got two they were so delicious! Everything was great. I can't wait to come back here and try some other items. I really wanted the collard greens but we got coleslaw instead, and it was also really good. It's a little bit of a wait obviously because it's so good so maybe get there a little bit earlier right when they open if possible but still wasn't too bad maybe about 25 minutes. Also they have great pink lemonade. Can't wait to go back!

I don't even have many words for what we orderedb other than, Great food! My partner had two bites and immediately said oh yeah this is good, we'll be back and then mentioned a friend to bring next time. He has NEVER in 10 years said those words lol! He had brisket and gouda Mac n cheese. I had pork belly burnt ends and some gouda mac n cheese + a lil treat: brown honey butter on corn bread. Yum yum and yum!

First time here I ordered beef brisket sandwich with potato salad it was yummy. The bbq was tender had a good taste along with a Pepsi to wash it all down. Met the owner Mo he was very nice told him I would write a review he stated hope it's good I will definitely return soon..

I keep missing the pop-ups, so I was happy that now they have a location. The owner was there and talking to everybody who took a seat. And all of the staff were very very, very very friendly!! He has music playing, which is kind of just such a fun vibe! The TLDR is that the meats are amazing. The sides I could go without. I got the brisket. It was perfection. Tasted so damn good. Very tender. The barbecue sauce was delicious. Delicious I got the jalapeño cheddar sausage. I'm not even a sausage person, but for some reason, the jalapeño part intrigued me. It was good. But I'm definitely not equipped to give an accurate description. I was over it after a couple bites cause it tasted like sausage lol I mean, of course it did ahhaha (please don't cancel me) The spicy greens were good. I feel like spicy is a loose term. I feel like I could give it to my mom who doesn't really like spice, and she would be perfectly fine. The cornbread was very sweet. Like very, very sweet. Like it was infused with honey or something or like maple syrup. The mac & cheese. I'm honestly shocked. It was very dry. And not very flavorful. It's Gouda mac & cheese. So I was really expecting some pizzazz. I wouldn't get it again. Which is shocking because I'm a mac & cheese Fien. The meat is where all the money and all the concentration and all of the critique goes to. And it's far exceeding expectations.

$30 for a 2 Meat 2 Side Combo: 1 Rib, 1 Brisket slice & a baby sample of Baked Beans & Potato Salad | Not Worth the Cost
    Vino L.

They cannot be serious... $30 for two pieces of meat and sample sides?! I ordered the "2 meat, 2 sides" combo for lunch and was genuinely shocked when I removed the foil. It came with exactly one rib and one slice of brisket. The sides? Sampler-sized; just like those tiny plastic cups you receive free samples in at Costco. It was truly disappointing. To be fair, the food itself was well-seasoned and good. But there's a huge difference between "tasty" and "worth $30," and this was absolutely not worth the price. The side portions were so small that they were actually sampler sized and we were still hungry afterwards. I felt genuinely bad because I recommended this place to my colleagues, sent them there, and even they were dissatisfied with the inflated and overpriced food rates. I love to support a small new emerging business, but not at the expense of being hustled. In today's economy, this kind of pricing is completely out of touch and obvious price - gouging. It comes across as taking advantage of customers and the new hype. We get it, everything is expensive nowadays and the economy has tanked, which is not this businesses fault, but this is excessive and overt. If anything, this lunch should be labeled a "sampler" and even then, it would still be immensely overpriced. What also made it worse is the presentation. The environmentalist in me could not understand why this tiny portion comes in a large aluminum tray covered with foil; which only highlights how little food you're actually getting. I scanned the platter looking for the rest of the food, because meal this is not. The container is excessive, wasteful, and honestly makes the portion size seem even more insulting. For the same price, you can enjoy a far more gratifying and hearty lunch at a high-end restaurant such as Morton's or Capital Grille. If this is their approach right after opening, it's hard to see how Brother's Keeper's pricing model is sustainable long-term. Bottom line: Good flavor, but completely unjustified cost. You should be full after eating a barbecue meal, especially if you're getting hustled. I won't be returning or sending any additional referrals. These poor portion sizes will not attract loyal customers such as myself.

    Empty carrot cake container lol
    Jameelah A.

The food was DELICIOUS!!! MO and his staff delivered excellent customer service. The pork belly and brisket blew my mind. They also had some of the best carrot cake I've ever had. The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is because the portions are small for the price. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

The Spareribs and Brisket were very flavorful and satisfying - but if I had to nitpick, the 'cue could've been just a bit more tender - the texture was just a shade off of the true "gold standard" sort of barbecue that I've had in the past. Nevertheless - the bold, smoky flavors hit the spot - impressive stuff overall! Would recommend. PS - The beer selection here ain't too shabby, either!

To say service is very poor would be understatement. Arrived on Saturday and sat at open seating in the bar area at a table. After waiting over 30 minutes (and just observing the lady that was working the section socializing with guest like she could care less about helping take my order). So after waiting and watching the two lady bar servers continue to have extended conversations and pretty much ignoring myself and my guest...I walked to the bar and asked the bartender if anyone was taking orders in the open seating indoor area that we were sitting at. The bartender told me that the ladies working the section had to help wash dishes and basically unable to take myself and my guest orders. We ended up walking out and went to a neighboring restaurant along the waterfront strip. How hard would have it had been to take a couple of orders or at the very least say "Hello" or "Give us a minute we are a little busy". Don't keep talking to your favorite customers and continue to walk by myself and my guest without saying something. The whole vibe seemed like the moral at this establishment with this shift is very low. Teach your servers to engage with all guest instead of have social hour during their shift...at the bare minimum again, a simple "hello" or "I'll help you in a moment" This happened on Saturday 02/28/2026 from 4pm through 4:35 pm (if management wants to look at the cameras and see just how disengaged the staff was during this shift).

DINNER FOR TWO SPECIAL…read more I don't know what's up with the mid reviews, this place is great for what it is!! Walking in is like being transported out of Long Beach and to the south.... Or a diner in big bear lake. It's charming. Anyways, I ordered the dinner for 2 for my mother and father. It came with a bit of bbq chicken, half rack of ribs, tri tip, catfish, cornbread, 2 sides, okra, sweet Potatoe fries and fried green tomatoes. I ordered myself a full rack baby back rib combo and it also came with two sides. French fries and mac. On top of that I ordered some hush puppies . I did not realize that I ordered that much food!!! It was sooo much. Cornbread - meh doesn't really have enough flavor but it's warm and you can add butter. The catfish- the breading was nice and crispy. French fries and mac and cheese- you can't ness that up. The tri tip- probably the best protein that we ate. Very soft. Ribs- needed more bbq sauce but you can order more. It was way better the next day when I heated them up. Chicken- I didn't eat it. My mom did. Hush puppies- fried cornbread. Not my thing. Sweet Potatoe fries- staple Fried green tomatoes- surprised me, that was actually good for literally a fried green tomato Okra- first bites, amazing, after a few it was too soggy for me. Just get the dinner for two. It's more than enough and you get to try a little bit of everything for 58 + dollars. Was it amazing? Not everything, but I appreciate the portion sizes and the variety.

I ordered delivery so expected the food to be more lukewarm than hot but was excited about the taste! It arrived and smelled wonderful and was surprisingly still steaming hot when I dig into the bag. I grabbed a straw, punctured the cup, and took a big gulp waiting for the sugar high I was craving! Sadly, it too was less than I desired. Then the Mac and cheese wasn't as flavorful either. I began wondering what type of pallet my co-worker had? This is BBQ for babies. I did finish the food but definitely had to do some "doctoring up" of my own. C'mon Johnny, reach for the stars! Kick up the flavor and add more suga' to that lemonade! Every time I see you when I drive by, I wanna get excited but it just isn't happening...yet. I'll give it another try someday.
