My wife and I heard of the great food at Loula's and let me tell you we were not disappointed. We ended up coming here 3 times for breakfast/lunch during our week vacation. Great atmosphere. Parking can be a little tricky but parking on side streets and walking worked for us. Great art on the walls and friendly staff. Be prepared for a short wait as this place gets busy but is well worth it. I had the Bighorn with spicy sausage and it was a TON of food. My wife had pancakes which were the size of the plate. This cafe is in the basement of an old masonic hall with local artist's paintings hanging on the wall. The food was really good. These people know how to make a rueben sandwich - rye bread fried in butter, but not too greasy, thick-slice corned beef, sauerkraut, cheese, and just enough Thousand Island dressing - perfect. The servers were friendly and attentive. The cafe was a bit noisy when we walked in at 1:45 in the afternoon. It sounded like a printing press was turning out newspapers down the hall. read more

What a cute place full of beautiful photos from a local artist. We split the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. I didn't have super high expectations for Mexican food in MT, but I blown away by the flavor. The green sauce was some of the best I've had, even better than home in LA, OC and Sam Diego. The enchiladas were huge too, packed full of chicken. The tortillas were perfect too, not soft or hard. There was tons of sauce and cheese too. I was also impressed with the beans, which had nice flavor with some peppers in there too. We saved room for pie. The huckleberry with mixed berries was amazing. The fruit was so fresh and sweet. The crust was crisp with a slight buttery taste. We also enjoyed the cherry peach. The chocolate cream was also very good, with a deep natural chocolate taste. We quickly ordered them because they stop serving pancakes at 1100. Little did we know that is all we needed (lol)! We then took our time ordering the rest of our breakfast. The five of us could not eat all of the food. Service was very good! Now as a tea only drinker, these folks were speaking my language. They brought me two Earl Grey teas bags, milk, honey and a secondary decretive glass container for more hot water. The restaurant itself was a large open floor plan in the basement below the Main Street. There was plenty of natural light and hardwood floors. Tons of local art on the walls and for sale. WOW!!! If you love sweets, you have to try the Lemon stuffed french toast. Simply the best french toast I've ever had. On top of that, the Huckleberry Peach pie is AMAZING!!! I was blown away by this place! I highly recommend using the Waitlist feature on Yelp for this restaurant as it's super busy. We had a 25 min wait on a Monday around 10:30. Parking is street parking and is fairly easy to find a spot within a block walk. You must try if coming to Whitefish! read more

We rolled into town Friday afternoon and decided to check out Loula's on the recommendation of our travel guide. I ordered the special of the night, fish tacos, and all I can say is that it was passable. The fish was "beer battered", but they obviously need to change the grease because the fish was a dark brown. The cream salsa (?) was unappealing and the tortilla was way too big, which overpowered and dried out the meal. The rice and sausage accompaniment was uninspiring. Advise people to stick to the menu. We came here for breakfast yesterday, and it's such a cute place. Everyone was super friendly, and for the most part, the food was wonderful. However, as I was eating my hash browns, I bit into something hard and pulled two slivers of white broken plastic out of my mouth, with an additional sliver of plastic within the hash browns. :( It looked like it was from a small broken bottle cap. I told our server immediately, and she was apologetic and replaced my food right away, but it left a bad taste in my mouth (literally and figuratively) that a manager did not come over to check in or that some adjustment was made to our bill. That said, I understand mistakes happen, and I would come back here as the food is good ... I just might be a little more cautious before jumping into my meal. read more
