This review is specifically for their brunch. Upscale southern place that's hit or miss on the food the serve, with cocktails that woo me in their excellence. The quetzacotl cocktail was amazing! Whoever works the bar is truly gifted. My drink had layers that bloomed throughout sipping it. While I cant say whether every drink is as well crafted as mine, Id say its worth getting a cocktail here. I was impressed by the spirit selection as well for whiskey and mezcal. We started off with some appetizers to share and they were ok. The Fried Green Tomatoes are a 5 to 1 ratio in regards of tomato to breading. Never have I had slices of tomatoes be served so thick! Either the line cooks were sloppy in their cutting, or the chef really likes sinking his teeth into huge portions of tomatoes. It had a decent cornmeal like breading that could have been thicker, but had a good taste. Overall I cant recommend it, but I didn't hate it. Jalapeno Cream Cheese Toast is simple but satisfying. They serve it on some fluffy yet crispy sourdough bread that's a great primer for the cream cheese and candied jalapenos. There wasn't anything special about the cream cheese, but I was quite satisfied with this. The duck Egg Hash is a great choice for an entrée if youre wanting starchy vegetables and gamey duck flavor. They load this up with duck meat and it really makes this dish shine. My only complaint is that youre not focused on your meal, the flavor profile turns into a blur. I took a bite of the chicken fried steak and thought it was pretty good. They marinade the steak in something to make it tender and extra savory. The breading is pretty good as well. It reminds me of a buttermilk crust. Keep in mind this meal is huge! I couldn't believe it when the waiter brought us the half portions! Definitely not for the dainty or small eater. We ordered the Fried French Toast as a dessert, since we wanted to try it, but thought it would be too sweet as an entrée. It worked out as a dessert, although if you like sweet and savory, this does fine as an entrée. The outside breading was nice and crunchy, reminding me of a fair state food item. The inside had a lot more egg than I thought there would be. It leans more into a strata or quiche territory with the amount that they used. I was expecting something more of a thick bread than a wet egg bread mix. The pecans they add on top are a nice touch. Lounge Here feels like an establishment that would fit right in within Austin. Lots of mid century interior that feels elegant and swanky, yet everyone dressed in fairly casual clothing. The food could have been better across the board, whether that was in presentation or the composition of the meals. While I did enjoy my meal, I don't feel the urge to race back here anytime soon. read more

Since moving nearby this has become our FAVORITE go to dinner (and now lunch) spot. Their borracho mussels are among our favorite dishes in Dallas, and I can't say enough about the chicken fried ribeye, halibut, snapper, and burger dishes. The atmosphere is as if you've stepped into a New Mexican speakeasy, consistently offering incredible vibes. We recently spent NYE here, and their prix fixe menu and dessert were divine along with live music. The most fabulous spots are always in the most unlikely locations. Lounge here is something I'd expect to find in NYC, with its stylish mid century decor it feels like you are stepping onto a movie set when you enter. Make a reservation and ask the staff what they recommend on the menu. I had the mushroom pasta as my main which was FANTASTIC, my colleagues all got burgers and loved them as well. Decided to have a date night here last night and it was the absolute best decision. The ambiance is retro grown and sexy! The service was stellar! Not annoying or pestering, just the right amount of attention and care. And I just can't with the excellent food and drinks. The menu offers a beautiful variety of "something for everyone" vibes. We had the fried oyster mushrooms appetizer, ahi tuna intermission and the mussels and the special which was a mahi-mahi dish with collard greens. Yes, you heard me right!!! Collard greens and ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING was seasoned and prepared to perfection!! The old school music and the stunning decor is all so perfectly curated.....We will 100% be returning! Super swanky and secretive little hidden lounge. We celebrated our friends birthday and it was so cool, calm and classy. It was pretty busy Friday night but Travis was a rockstar, he checked in on us as much as he could- he was definitely zipping all over the place. Travis was the food whisperer- we had a few appy's to start- the pimento cheese, delicious but a little small and hard to dig into with the jar- crab dip, delicious and flavorful, fried chicken bites- the chicken didn't taste as fresh to me- this wasn't my favorite. Brussel sprouts- oh yes! On point. Entrees were delicious. I got the burger per Travis' pick. Truly- best burger I've had. Even better the next day. It was so juicy and delicious. The restaurant is difficult to find, located along a sketchy strip of stores on Garland Rd in an area that is trying to become more upscale. We had to try a couple of times before locating it because there is just an address. The ambience and decor is that of a lounge circa 1960-1965. The lounge/restaurant is dark and sexy. There is a bar on the left and a row of tables/booths on the right. The menu is upscale. We started with deviled eggs which were good but too much pickle juice (IMO) made them a bit sour. I had a house salad which at $10 is probably a bit overpriced. They use lettuce that is not my favorite and it too was a bit sour from goat's cheese so I gave it to the wife. I had the mussels and they were outstanding and the primary reason for the 4 star review. Cooked perfectly and the broth was very flavorful. It was worth the $20 price tag. The wife had halibut ($30) and unfortunately it was overcooked and rather dry. It was a bit better after she put the accompanying sauce and relish on it, but they need to do better in fish preparation. Our server was friendly and polite. The service was efficient. Let me start with the good - the food was delicious, and the restaurant itself is cool looking. I ordered the fried chicken, pimiento cheese appetizer and fried green tomatoes and they were all very good. The drinks were also great. However, the service experience was lacking. We had a reservation and our table was not ready on time, so they directed us to stand at the bar. I understand this happens at busy restaurants. But the space is so small that we were in the way of servers and other patrons. There's not room to stand, and it probably took 25 minutes for our table to be ready after our reservation time. When they did seat us, we were not given menus (qr codes) nor water. And we were just left there for a while. Which when they realized no one had come by, they were apologetic. When they brought the wine, they just set the bottles at the table. Didn't pour it for us. We served ourselves. We had a lot of plates at the table that they did not clear throughout the meal at all. And the table was small so it was really frustrating because there was no space. Our server was nice, but really needs to be trained up a bit more? And I would recommend bringing cash because they have a pretty big credit card fee. So just a heads up there. I had a good time, but for the vibe they give off, which is a nicer sit down restaurant, I was expecting better service. read more

This is only my 2nd visit here, and I like it. I went for dinner a while back not knowing you really should make a reservation. Luckily they were able to fit us in. Anyway, I was expecting the same situation for brunch, but that wasn't the case. We got there about 12:20 and there were plenty of tables available. I had the sausage and biscuits. It came with eggs and potatoes. The main dish was so good. The biscuits were the perfect size and thickness; the sausage tasted like sausage (I've had some bad experiences with the sausage not being right); the duck gravy was delicious. The potatoes and eggs needed some salt and pepper, but otherwise I was pleased. My husband had the chicken fried chicken stack. He ate a majority of it, but said it was just ok, so I don't know. Upon arriving the first thing I noticed was the incredibly limited parking. Oddly, there's no sign with the name "Lounge Here" above the door. Cute little hipster type vibe. It's dimly lit and there's a full bar. Disappointedly, there was no LIVE music, however music was being played. I mention this because Google suggests this place when "live music brunch spots" are searched. During brunch hours on Sunday I requested the brunch burger with fried french toast as the "bun." My waitress advised me I'd be charged $30 for the French toast PLUS the $18 for the actual brunch burger. I was totally aghast! FORTY-EIGHT American dollars for a burger?? I was ok with paying an up-charge... but $30? To replace bread with bread, absolutely not! I politely told my waitress to make the burger with the regular bun. I would not recommend the deviled eggs and I'll just leave it at that! The chicken fried steak was yummy and the brunch burger was seasoned pretty well. The sides of bacon were surprisingly thick and crispy! They have bottles of champagne for mimosas. Honestly, I was crestfallen with the overall experience and the rigidity of the staff. We had a solid experience, but there were a few areas that could have been improved, though nothing would keep us from returning. First, we reserved a booth two weeks in advance but were told upon arrival that none were available. We were seated at a two-top, and shortly after, a booth opened up and was cleaned. It felt unusual that the host didn't offer us the newly available booth, especially since we'd been seated only five minutes prior and hadn't yet been greeted by our server. It's standard at other high-end establishments I've visited for hosts to give guests options if their requested table isn't available immediately. They might explain the situation, offer an alternative, or let us know how long it might take for our preferred table to become available. Instead, we had to ask the server if we could move, and while we were accommodated, the interaction left us feeling as though we were asking for special treatment rather than simply enjoying a reservation preference. The food was good, though a couple of hot dishes, like the Brussels sprouts and one of our mains, arrived closer to room temperature than expected. Service was on the slower side, which was fine since we weren't in a hurry, but we did feel that a higher-end establishment would place a bit more attention on these details. Hidden gem. I learned about this place through Yelp. I have driven down this street many's times and never knew this place was here. It is a limited sitting cozy spot. Intimate with great lighting against the wood paneling for a nice selfie.There's a small menu with some tasty items on it. I suggest the chicken fried ribeye. Yummy. The fried green tomatoes could use a little more seasoning. I had some sort of dip (pictured) it was really good with the crispy pork on top. The 4 stars is because the dessert options were blah.
