Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. Carnitas burrito is a must try. Reasonably priced, quick and friendly service.

I was shopping at Rancho Coastal Humane Society Thrift Shop, where I had also donated some clothes. Met my daughter, there, and we walked around the corner to Lourdes. I had my service dog with me, and she had her six month old puppy, rescue dog, but well behaved, so we sat outside. Unfortunately, when my daughter went in to pick up her food, the dog's leash got caught on the lace on the bottom of her pants, causing her to spill her entire plate of food down her white pants. While my fish taco was okay, my daughter paid $1.50 extra for avocado on her fish taco plate, when it COMES with avocado. They should have told her she didn't have to pay extra. The avocado stained her paints, so we were both distressed, although we had ordered separately. As a professional courtesy, the Lourdes staff should have replaced her plate, that was ruined before she took two steps away from the counter. Although the spill wasn't their fault, I went in and asked if they could at least give her another to-go plate, as a courtesy. The cook said no, the counter lady told me. They lost at least two customers, for life. My daughter had been there many times, before, and will never go back, now. Both my daughter and I have worked in the food industry, in years past, as servers, so we know that professional courtesy is important, more important than saving a few dollars in denying good service to someone who has had an accidental spill. I wanted to argue with them more about it, speak to a manager, but my daughter didn't want me to make a scene, said we should just give them a bad review for being rude and uncaring. read more

This is one of our go to places for Mexican food when in Encinitas. The quality and service have always been consistent. I've never had a bad experience. I really like the taco soup with warm corn tortillas. There is usually plenty of seating and the recent remodel made it open air dining. It's across the street from the beach so parking can be tough on the weekends. I would give it 5 stars but they got rid of their beef barbacoa which was my favorite meat. read more

The food was all very good I had excellent chicken flautas with guacamole. Other people in my party had their CA burrito which includes French Fries! It was really good. The carne asada burrito would have been even better with cheese. The chips were disappointing; they.needed to be heated. I've eaten here a handful of times and it is always good. I'm rating Lourdes 3 stars because it doesn't taste as authentic as your average hole-in-wall taco shop, but it is still good. My wife loves their chicken soup (their specialty). The salsas are pretty good, too. The space is clean and bright, but not very large. It always feels to me like most people in line are ordering to go, but as long as you don't roll in with a party of 8 people, you should be able to find a seat. read more

This place is dope, and the food is delicious. I live up the street and come here all the time. It is great. I do have some feedback for the service though. Please develop a better system to make sure the customers get the right burrito they order. I have done take out multiple times to find when I get home that the burrito was no the one I ordered. Solid tacos- had beef, pork and chicken and all good. The hard shell chicken was very tasty. Also had the chicken soup- tasted very fresh - it's a lighter broth. How does a little taco shop earn 5 stars? Heck, I don't know. Lourdes is a local gem. Their menu is vast, with lots of California-oriented Mexican items available. The breakfast burritos are a staple morning meal, carne asada, chicken and carnitas creations the stuff of lunch and dinner plates. The food is fresh and well prepared, the ingredients are delicious and thoughtfully paired together, and the soup offerings are delectable, hearty and hit the spot on a cold winter night (ah, forget winter, the soup is always good). Let me finish by saying that the employees at Lourdes are what push the place into 5 star territory. They are always so nice, so accommodating, patient and kind in explaining menu items, favorites or just waiting for a clueless customer to order (with a smile on their faces). Kudos to Lourdes, especially after the recent major renovation of the center in which they are located. Higher rent is a challenge, so please patronize this great little taco shop in the middle of Cardiff. read more

You can tell it's a family business and that the family takes pride in what it does for us. The Hot Carrots in the salsa bar are PERFECT! That was a very good sign. The barbacoa tacos are huge and the last guy who posted was right on...ALWAYS add cheese to your carne asada burrito. You have to ask because cheese is never included at any taco shop I've ever been to. Service is very friendly...the guy named Dar is particularly cool and knows how to take care of us "regulars". read more

I eat here a few times a month, but will probably get seaside market's tacos for now on. I am giving two stars because I was pretty grossed out at Lourdes today when the girl working the register kept coughing and sneezing. She then went back into the kitchen and continued to sneeze next to the cook making what looked like salsa. He looked just as annoyed as I was. If you are in the food service biz and you don't feel 100%, stay home and spare the rest of your customers and employees from getting your gross cold. The place looks clean and is well taken care of, but someone sneezing and blowing their nose in a kitchen is not OK! Best Mexican Food Ever! Lourdes never disappoints! We eat here multiple times a week. We have tried all the rest in the area and this place has consistently the very best food, plus you can't get much friendlier than the the staff of this place. You can't go wrong ordering here, Tortilla soup, California, Veggie, Breakfast Burritos all amazing. Tastier and more generous portion sizes than Bull Taco, without the long wait.
