    Shredded Beef Taco
    Tracy H.

Very small hole in the wall. From the outside you would not know the deliciousness that is inside. Was a chilly morning and we craved soup. Arrived right after it open. The place was clean and staff were friendly. However, the either has the A/C or the heater wasn't working, because it was freezing inside. No worries, we were having soup for breakfast. We ordered two chicken and rice soups and a shredded beef taco. The soup was hot and delicious. The best part is taking some of the chicken& rice & avocado and putting it in the piping hot tortillas they give you & making a chicken burrito. Slurp. The taco was good and the meat was clean, no fat. My only complaint on the taco was it seemed that there was more lettuce & cheese than meat. It was still tasty. This place better never close.

Stumbled in here while on a quest with a friend. The service here was fast, the food was good and it was affordable and quality. A family feeling place anyone would visit and be happy. Would come again!

I found this place from an online search for caldo (mexican soup) because I was feeling under the weather. This place prides itself on caldo de pollo, so I wanted to give it a try. The building itself is fairly unassuming - when I walked in the atmosphere was incredibly authentic. There were beautiful colorful paintings and decorations along the walls. I called in the order to go because I didnt want to get anyone sick, and the lady who answered my call was the one to check me out at the register when my food was ready. Fast and kindly service. When I got home, I opened up the soup and started to eat. The stock was really good, and there were big chunks of chicken. This is where I was disappointed- there was no chayote, carrot, corn, zucchini or potato. ONLY chicken, rice, three slices of avocado, onions and cilantro. It was quite empty as far as the usual caldo that I'm accustomed to. It still tasted good, but I thought that it needed a little more sustenance instead of being just mostly broth. Granted I didn't order any other item, so I can only review based on the soup - if I order more, I'll update the review. But for now, I unfortunately won't be ordering the soup again.

Their chicken soup is seriously healing. Sick? Lourdes Cold day? Lourdes Hot day? Don't care, Lourdes! I typically order the soup online to-go, but the dine in experience is also nice. Super local Escondido spot with warm & cozy vibes inside. The soup is delightfully simple with broth, rice, generous amount of chicken, and topped with onion/cilantro/avocado. Asking for it "extra spicy" adds the perfect flavor boost in my opinion. Truthfully, their other food is only okay, but their chicken soup is so good that it still deserves the 5 stars. Staff is also very friendly. I will continue to be a regular here. :)

I travel 5 1/2 miles just for this soup! I will buy two large caldo de pollo (no rice) especially when I'm sick. Hands down, it's the best around here.

This is a sad excuse for a California burrito honestly, I've never had such a small burrito. The chicken soup is very good though

The chicken soup here is great. I personally wouldn't order anything else. The last time I did, there was a plastic bag in my burrito.

How long is to long to wait for soup it's been 50 minuets?

Hmm... I've never had to wait that long! Things happen, it wouldn't hurt to ask the nice lady at the register about your order to make sure your order wasn't accidentally misplaced or something. ¡Buen Provecho! Enjoy your soup, you'll love it!

We ordered the classic burger with avocado and jalapeños and the mushroom Swiss with avocado, both cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. They have a good selection of beer, milkshakes, and drinks. You order at the counter and they'll bring the food to your table. It's hard to find a burger place with all my favorites: an egg, bacon, and avocado. The bacon was crispy, the egg was medium and wasn't too runny, and the brioche bread was a little sweet and fluffy. They use angus beef for their patties. You can also split your fries which I love! I got to try the onion rings and sweet potato fries. I wish the sweet potato fries were crispy. They were more on the soggy side. The onion rings batter was a lil thicker than I like. The batter overpowered the onion. We also got the Cajun wings to try which was nice and crispy! They give you a few sauces on the side so you can dip it. I got the ranch which was so good with the wings, fries and burger. The milkshakes are pretty delicious! We got the classic vanilla one. It was a pretty thick shake so you know they use legit ice cream! I also liked the peach lemonade. I would check this place out if you're in the area!

We found free parking on the street a block or two down from the restaurant. Service (4/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. A couple of things stand out to me about their service. I was looking at the menu and was about to order. Someone behind me cut in line without asking if I was ready to order. The lady working noticed this and asked me to order first. Humanity still exists! They also check on your periodically even though this isn't true table service which is a nice touch. On the flip side, they did try and upsell me to add bacon bits to my dish which I was all for until I saw it was a $3.50 upcharge. I asked them to remove it. A little too steep. Ambiance (4/5): My type of restaurant. Casual with some charm. We sat at a table across from the bar. They have some cool decor, too. No complaints. Drinks (4/5): I had a beer flight because I often can't say no to a flight. I love the variety and being able to try new beers, especially when I'm traveling. While they don't have a huge selection, they had just enough beers that were interesting for me to take the plunge. Food (4/5): I did the country poutine which comes with fries, gravy, fried chicken bites, and green onions. I'm a sucker for loaded fries so I couldn't say no. Especially for this twist on a classic poutine. Generous portion size as I had hoped. A little more chicken would have been nice, but outside of that, very solid.
