What a cute town Lou's Kitchen is located in! The Bavarian town called Mt Angel. Beautiful community! The restaurant looks like an alpine ski chalet and they have a real working glockenspiel in the front of their restaurant! So charming! Good menu selection and wine/alcohol selection. Large dining space. Friendly staff. Come for the food and stay for the cultural event! What a trea

Avocado Toast Meal with Potatoes, Eggs & Bacon

When: Sat. April 12th, 8:15 am; party of 2 Adults. Very friendly and genuine service. We were greeted & seated promptly. The ambiance was a farm house country kitchen feel. The restaurant is large enough where all patrons can feel comfortable without rubbing elbows with others. There is ample street parking around the restaurant. Breakfast is served only on Weekends at this Mount Angel eatery. My wife had the Avocado Toast meal and she said it was one of the best Avocado Toast she has ever had. I had the hearty Lou's Farmer's Breakfast which is essentially everything in the kitchen except the kitchen sink. This meal was very filling and satisfying. The grilled Hash Browns had the perfect crispness with a flavorful buttery taste. We will definitely be back to Lou's.

Lou's Kitchen seems to be doing a bang-up job in downtown Mt. Angel - the tables were full, the crowd was happy, the food smelled delicious, and being the holiday season, the Christmas tree inside the front door was festive and bright. We ordered our usual... hard to break the habit, isn't it? I got a tuna melt on grilled sourdough with fries and a side of barbeque sauce and my friends ordered a half ham & cheese sandwich with chips and a turkey cranberry sandwich on a croissant. All of our meals were tasty and filling, the service was attentive, and the water glasses were always full. Lou's consistently offers good food including a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, burgers and dinner entrees, as well as daily specials. Mt. Angel is a cute little town well-known for its Oktoberfest every fall but if you want to see it without the annual crowds, check out the shops and then go get some food at Lou's. Parking will be easy without all the crowds and walking around town will work up your appetite for something yummy.

My boyfriend is from Mt. Angel, and we visited his family over Labor Day weekend. While we were there, his mother insisted we try a new restaurant in town called Lou's. We invited a friend and went for Saturday brunch. Unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of my dish because I ate it too quickly--if that doesn't tell you how good it is, take my word for it and try it yourself, lol. We all cleared our plates! Lou's is run by a local family, and every member plays a role in the restaurant--from cooking and managing to serving and making sure every guest is well taken care of. The restaurant is located in the heart of town in a beautiful historic building. You can see the stunning woodwork and detail throughout the space. If you're in town, especially during Oktoberfest, you've got to add Lou's to your must-visit list for a delicious, home-cooked meal!

We have been coming here on the occasional ever since they opened. Actually , this has become our go to stop when we are in Mt. Angel around mealtime. The food is always consistent and (while I like German food) the menu isn't all about sausage and schnitzel. The service has always been excellent and they don't make you feel rushed. If you are looking for an overpriced bratwurst to bask in the German feel of the town this is not your place. If you are looking for a quality meal at a good price, you should give them a try.

Veggie/Cheese Omelette with Sourdough English Muffin

Really, really delicious food!!! Came here for brunch with my family Sunday morning. Place was packed and understaffed from the looks of it. We ordered our drinks after being seated but they never arrived. Took close to twenty minutes before our server arrived and took our order again. She did apologize for the delay. Our drinks and meals arrived not too long afterwards. Really tasty and worth the long wait! The homemade sourdough English muffins were absolutely amazing! Everything is scratch made and very well prepared. My veggie/cheese omelette was very tasty and prepared with real eggs. My daughter loved her biscuits with gravy. Farmer's breakfast looked great and so was the breakfast sandwich. Reasonably priced too. Loud in there because it was packed. Also very chilly as the door was constantly being opened and was a cold, windy morning. Otherwise, great place and great food!

This is a good spot to stop after a couple of hours at the Oregon Garden. The service is a little slow considering not a lot of patrons. Our server kept disappearing for long periods of time. The food is a lot- we ended up taking 1/2 home. If we come back will probably share. Standard bar - tables and booth.

My wife and I recently ate here. The waitress was amazingly friendly and the service was excellent. The food was wonderful, and the architecture is great. My only criticism is that there was christian music playing throughout my entire time there. While I wholeheartedly believe in people's right to believe in what they want--I don't like people imposing their religious views on me--particularly when I'm paying really good money to eat there. I mentioned it to the waitress and told her I would be just as bothered if muslim prayer music came on while I was eating. She listened to me and was really nice. They didn't turn off the music. That is okay. I felt listened to. However, because I don't like listening to religious music of any kind while I'm eating--I'm not sure if I will be going back. Incidentally, they would have gotten a five star rating, but I consider playing religious music of any kind in a business situation a grossly bad business practice.

Dinner salad, yum!

But it feels much more satisfying, rewarding and accomplishing as it obviously would by trying a beer from a brewery that I have been wanting to try... which leads us to one of my latest brewery experiences which is Silver Falls Brewery. Steve and I had one beer from this brewery and we liked it pretty well. We got the Oregon Sunshine Hazy IPA which was a better IPA drinking session than on previous occasions. In short it was a nice, refreshing one that hit the spot nicely. The elements in the flavors to look for are citrus, a juicy quality and a hoppiness presence. This IPA despite being a hazy also was bright in flavor as well as hue. A very refreshing IPA and I am so very glad I got to try a beer from Silver Falls Brewery!

For example, there aren't many places in Silverton where diners can order étouffée, gumbo or jambalaya. Well, look no further as one of SFB's "bowl" dishes rotates between these three Cajun favorites. In addition, the menu also offers a number of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options for guests looking for something to suit their dietary needs. What I love most about Silver Falls Brewery is the many seating options. The restuarant has balcony seating, as well as an outdoor courtyard with a fair number of tables. In addition, the interior dining room has several large family-style tables that can accomodate large groups. This establishment does a fair amount of business during the spring and summer months when tourist activity is heavy, yet they somehow manage to swiftly seat, serve, and care for guests without compromising on service. The drinks are great, service comes with a smile, and I'm here for supporting local businesses that always shine brightly.

The menu is varied, with pasta plates, chicken dishes, salads, grilled shrimp as a side order, soups, and a lot more. They do not have their alcohol license yet so there was no wine, cider, or beer available, although we saw others with full wine glasses (maybe they brought their own?). They are still working the kinks out of their service and kitchen - although my order was written down correctly (no cheese on my pasta dish), it arrived covered in Parmesan cheese, and our server did not return until my friend was almost finished with her dinner - by the time my re-made pasta dish finally arrived, I was eating alone. We had the Three-Cheese Tortellini with a House Salad, and the Radiatore Pasta Salad (with the Grilled Shrimp from the tortellini dish on the side) - both tasty and perfectly portioned. Both the House Salad and the Radiatore Pasta Salad had plain ol' black olives from a can in them, not the yummy kalamata olives that one would expect to see in an upscale place that bills itself as "Italian and Mediterranean." Once their service and kitchen staff are up to par and their liquor license is approved, I expect this will be a favorite and popular eating-out choice for locals and visitors alike... and I'll be happy to update and increase my 3-star rating. That is, provided they "upgrade" those plain ol' black olives.
