I have been wanting to try this spot for a while. I am so glad we finally got to come here. The cashiers were so patient with us while we made up our minds on 1 what to order and 2 which sides to have with them. We also placed an order to go for my brother. We sat to eat here since it was our first time. It was such a nice cozy spot. There is plenty of seating as well as parking. The wait also was not too long considering it was freshly cooked. The food and meats were moist and delicious. My mom and I could have shared an order but now we know for next time. The meats had a nice char from the grill which only added to their flavor. Honestly, I really really wanted to like this place. It's cute and family own. But the food was not that great and not worth the cost imo. We ordered the beef rib plate and chicken plate. The beef ribs is suppose to be 4 ribs, but the quantity is realistically like 2 ribs (like 4 rib bones but no meat on 2 of them). IMO for $32 I was bummed with the quantity. I liked the ribs, but I feel like it shouldn't be marketed as 4 ribs if the meat quantity is realistically 2. The chicken was really tender but really really dry. Southern Bbq isn't one of my top favorites, just the meat itself. For me, is either " wow this is great bbq " or something like I had better. It took almost 20 minutes and the cashier lady was really nice. It was dead when I walked in, I was the only second customer there. I asked the cashier lady that I thought it would be busy since is Father's Day, she said the crowd just left. All of them at once ? Hahaha, is hard to believe. The beef ribs looked good but it doesn't really have any flavor to it, is smothered in bbq sauce and it falls of the bone easily, really tender. The chicken thigh/leg was like boiled meat with the sauce covering it. What I mean is, the chicken seems like it was boiled first then they grilled it with the bbq sauce. Is not smoked, it was too soft. The fries was not freshly made, is from one of those bags that you get at Costco. Is like those fries that you get at the hamburger place. By the time I got home 15 minutes away, it was already hard and stale. The rice was too salty, I don't think is the gravy that made the rice salty. I drove over 5 miles to get it and it was kinda disappointing, I could of just went to the ones by my house. Because the rating was so high for this place, I thought it was worth the drive. Wanted to try this place due to the hype. Went there with my friend that loves BBQ. We both got the beef and pork ribs with coleslaw and rice with gravy with 1 dinner roll. Went to get our drinks but the ice machine didn't have any ice. The Coke has more carbonation than the syrup. I told the person and he fixed it but we still need to wait for the ice machine to make new ice. Waited 5 to 10 minutes then we got our plates. The beef ribs don't have that much meat on it. You can't taste the rub on the beef ribs only BBQ sauce. The coleslaw was good and so was the rice with gravy. It also came with 1 dinner roll. I didn't get try the pork ribs cause I was full already. Most of the time I would finish my plate. I asked my friend how was the food. The ribs were odd assortment of different sizes as if taken from a jumbo pile and not directly sliced off the rack. Like low quality cast offs . Chicken was decent, moist and bbq flavor. That hurts to say, but it's true. - I'm not ever loving a store-bought roll. - If I'm eating at your restaurant, don't serve me in a styrofoam take-out box. Let's start with the price of the lunch "special" $20 for a lunch special is quite pricey! The beef ribs have more rub and sauce then meat. The rice and gravy are also very different in taste then the original. The bbq is also a new recipe it seems. I understand it's new owners and it's basically based on the original so I took that with a grain of salt but they even did away with the chicken breast option. I was very much hoping it would at least be similar. Sad day.
