I called and asked them for a bundle deal with a white pizza in 20 wings. They told me one price. When I got there it was $7.50 more Then the originally told me. Then the wings that they made me were overly cooked were the wings were not even edible. It was like chewing through dry dehydrated meat The texture was. I paid $60 total. Dude. Everything was awesome. We were visiting Buffalo for a few days after a stay in Niagara Falls Canada. I was checking on Yelp for local pizza places, and discovered that Buffalo seems to have a style of pizza all its own. So I had to try it (of course). Lovejoy did not disappoint! The pizza was flavorful and yummy. (For those curious, Buffalo style has a thicker crust than NY style. Not as thick as Sicilian or Detroit, but definitely thicker than NY. And although it's not woodfired, it has a little more char than a NY style pie.) I LOVED the pizza, and Big Daddy enjoyed it too (and he doesn't normally like pizza). I am not a huge fan of wings, but these were delicious! Crispy and juicy... really good. If we had wings like this where I'm from, I'd eat them more often. The meatball sub was fire, too. That crust was light, and just the right thickness, crispy but melt in your mouth. Damn! My wife has 10pc wings medium sauce. First thing she said is "that is the way wings are supposed to be done!". Things I learned today: Lovejoy Pizza is amazing and you must order your pizza well-done next time you get some. Our office gave us some lunch money and we decided to get Lovejoy because who doesn't love pizza? We ordered a sheet pizza, half cheese, half pepperoni. The distinction that made all the difference was ordering the pizza well done. Let me tell you this, my life has been changed for the better. The pizza was so delicious. I was in a bit of turmoil when I heard it was national pizza day. Immediately I knew I wanted to participate, but which local do I patronize. I haven't had pizza from my favorite joint in a while but sadly they were out of a few key ingredients and their covid hours were not convenient. What to do, what to do?! This is my go-to spot for pizza, I order here at least 2-3 times a month I think... Most of the time we get pizza, curly fries w/gravy, garlic bread w/cheese and I often add a taco... Consistency is the key word here b/c having ordered for over 11 years now, I've had one bad pie and it was the delivery driver's fault b/c the cheese slid to the side---but when i called to just let them know; they insisted on bringing me a new one at no charge. Whenever the one manager, Frank is there--I just know everything is gonna be on point. I've never had the downtown location's food but I imagine it's awesome too! Also they are very generous with quantity for their salads and the stuffed peppers & stuffed pepper pizza is probably the closest to my cousin's OG recipe (Billy Ogden's, IYKYK!). Lovejoy Pizza is a speedy little pizza place that offers all types of pizza, wings, and whatever else you want from a place like this nice and fast. I ended up stopping here during the week while in search of a new place to get lunch from. I came in around 12:30PM and was sold right way when I saw the pizza slices and wings in the little display case. I decided to get 2 slices of cheese pizza and some of the CharBBQ wings on the side (It's the last week of the year, don't judge me). The pizza was way better then I was expecting and was kind of a mixture of Italian/Greek style pizza. It was on the thinner side but the sauce and cheese reminded me of the thicker greek slices, either way they were fantastic. The CharBBQ wings were also pretty darn tasty. They offer a unique flavour while still being pretty big. Lovejoy Pizza won me over this week and I look forward to coming back for more. I work on the BNMC and this place is my lunch go to. It's fast, cheap and good. I've been here countless times and my go to order is the Turkey Sub combo. I order my sandwich to go light on the mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion and no oil. The sandwich is made with good quality turkey and provolone and is prepared on a toasted roll. The combo sandwich is huge, honestly could be enough for two people, comes with a bag of lays chips, and a bottled drink for $7.56, including the tax. The employees are fantastic and always fun to chat with. The owner is also extremely friendly! I've tried their wings a few times and they are also really good! I ordered their pizza and wing combo today and chose to have it delivered. 20 wings and a large pizza for $28 including tax. I asked for the pizza to be half mushroom and half peppers. Yum, the anticipation of a sweet mushroom peppery-pizza. They didn't have any red peppers, so I went with green peppers. Meh, but okay. Let me first say their pizza was excellent. Great quality cheese, ingredients and great quality dough that is savory to eat. Cooked to absolute perfection. If you're looking for a delicious pizza, this is the place to go. So why the three stars? They messed up my order a bit. The half pepper and half mushroom pizza turned out to be half cheese, with the other half being a mix of mushroom and green peppers. I thought I communicated what I wanted fairly clearly, so I'm not sure where the mistake came from. I was disappointed with the miscommunication, because come on who wants a pizza that is half cheese and the other half with two toppings that don't go together that well? My other concern were that the wings, while decent and crispy how were not spicy at all. I ordered 10 bbq (which were delicious and perfectly sauced), and 10 hot which may as well have been called "slightly mild," because my mouth had absolutely no burn after eating them. Not sure where their definition of hot comes from, but it definitely doesn't jive with me. OK, I read the reviews of this pizza and came as a result, so Yelp gets the "Shout-out" there. But, to be honest, I was skeptical the reviews could be that accurate, after all, Buffalo is not known for terrific pizza (notwithstanding the flights full of Bocce and Molson/Labatts for Bills/Jets games), and the various "Bob and John's" fanatics out there. I love pizza. I have had alot of pizza in my life, and always try pizza wherever I find myself in the world, as a result, I have had things I'm not really sure are pizza, but they were good. But its been years since I have had pizza in Buffalo. I have a vague memory of having "Just Pizza" (Hertel / Delaware location) once some 5 years ago, and it was indeed, ok. But just OK. In NY my favorite pizza is actually the "hole in the wall" type, found outside of Port Authority, on the seedy side, for a buck a slice. I know. I can hear the groans. Made by immigrants from Delhi no less. But terrific pizza, even though you have to stand there eating it (no inside at all), and there are at times homeless people wandering around. But for a buck you can buy them a slice too (which I often do). In DC I loved a place that made "artisinal pizza", so those pizzas with salad on them or various other healthy type things, thin crust, lots of seasoning etc. Also really really good. In Chicago I went for the deep dish, but have to say it was a little much for me, so while I liked it, not my favorite. There are so many different versions of pizza around the world that its hard to define it anymore. But, I still think dough, tomato and cheese are a good place to start. But I digress. I LOVED my cheese and pepperoni piece here today. LOVED it. Could not believe I was having this in Buffalo. At $2.75 a slice this is not cheap pizza, in fact, one might say its overpriced. But it was tasty. After the first, I went back to the counter for a repeat, and saw they had a "white" by the slice on offer now. So I had that, white pizza with onions, garlic and something else. Also very good. But have to say the basic cheese and pepperoni did the trick for me (and I have not had pepperoni in ages). From here I went to Hyatts, basically next door, and mentioned to the staff there they should try this if they have not yet, and they all said "we are regulars". So word is out. There are a few places to sit inside, but its counter, not super comfortable, so be prepared to use this as a pick up or delivery place. While I did not try anything else, there were people lining up for other offerings they have, wings and more. I'll be back, and I think you should be too, if you have a love of good basic old fashioned pizza. read more
