I first started using them shortly after they opened a few years ago - and I was thrilled to find a good manicure/pedicure on the outer Cape. NOT anymore. The quality of their service declined. Since they're the only place on the Outer Cape, they've grown very quickly and are very busy. Until recently their manicurists were very good. NOT anymore. They're rushed, do a minimal job of shaping/trimming, etc., and the quality of the polish is poor (dried out, gel colors are old so that the color, when put on, is different than the sample color, etc.). I love this place. After moving to the Cape last winter, I've been desperately seeking an acceptable mani/pedi on or at least near the Lower Cape that is not stupid expensive. I know that no place here is going to be as good or as cheap as my nail salons on Staten Island, but Lovely Nails fits my bill in a lot of ways: ** They give good nails -- I know other reviews say they don't, and maybe that was true a while back, but the first time I went I put them through their paces -- dark, dark blue undercoat, with a sparkle coat, then a hologram coat on top, And Blanca, who was working on me, did a really, really good job. It lasted about ten days on my hands and a month plus on my toes. Dark colors, and holograms are really hard to do right and although she did have to sweat a bit, they turned out perfectly. ** They can be really sweet -- I brought my Mom in one day for her first pedi EVER. I know...wow, but she has always done her own, but she dislocated her shoulder, so I dragged her in. Everyone there was so nice, and gave her extra special treatment so she would feel comfortable. I also have some issues on my leg, and they have always been extra careful and helpful with that too, ** IT IS NOT A FREAKIN SPA -- not even close, thank the powers. The decor is somewhat post-apocalyptic abandoned office (check out the half-filled fish tank with one--probably none now--fish in it and the fading hand pictures from a decade ago on the walls. I was so happy I almost cried the first time I walked in -- it's just like the nail salons you would find in Jersey City or Greenpoint in the early 90s. ** Not too crowded from what I can see -- During the height of tourist season it is probably worth a call before dropping in, but I've never had to wait more than five minutes. Dolores, who is the manager, is probably best, but everyone there is pretty good, and if they don't know how to do something they check with Dolores, and she keeps an eye on them to make sure it is going okay (I ask for some complicated stuff). ** No sign of the creepy "smoking man" foot fetish guy mentioned in the previous reviews -- maybe he got the message or was arrested or something. No sign of him now, and I've gone a number of times starting in March 2014. If he does show when I'm there I'll just ask him to pay me if he wants to touch my feet. read more

If you live on the outer cape, the location is great. I have been coming here for a couple years because of the convenience and it is inexpensive. I'm not super picky about manicures, I just want something done well enough and quickly (but not rushed!). This place fit the bill until recently. I went in two days before Christmas for a manicure and the place was empty. I had a new "nail tech" who was nice enough but she did a really terrible job, actually the worst manicure I've ever received, I 100% could have done a better job myself. I would have probably gone back and just made sure to have a different manicurist but one day later I started to develop a nail infection! My thumb hurts so badly now I can barely use it. This place was splendid. We went as a 4-person party and were immediately treated to a relaxing and serene experience that we would not soon forget. There are around 6 employees each of whom are wonderfully skilled. The previous reviews are referring to the nasty and atrociously mannered previous owner that treated the employees with no respect. About a year ago the establishment was purchased by a woman that has significantly improved both the experience and the treatment. We almost did not go to the salon because of the other reviews that we looked at, but the result was a wonderful surprise. The quickest and the worst pedicure I've ever had. Never bothered to re-apply nail polish after I pointed out it was old and lumpy. Pedicure was rushed. I got a full set of acrylics and they are horrendous. Uneven, bumpy, and sloppy. I got them done in the morning and by the afternoon one popped off.. I've had acrylics for 10 years and I've never had one just pop off. I got it fixed and within hours it was peeling off... acrylic doesn't just peel. They are clearly using cheap product. I came here for a manicure with my friends who live in Eastham, and I have never been treated so poorly by someone I was paying for a service. It was busy when I walked in, but I was seated right away by a lovely woman who did a great job filing my nails, doing the massage, and cutting my cuticles. But then, after she had painted my first coat, the man who seemed like the owner- Mike- came out and rudely told the woman doing my manicure to get out of her chair. She told him she was almost done, but he rudely yelled at her that he needed the chair, and almost pushed her out of the way. My first hand was done well and very neatly, but then he proceeded to make a huge mess of my nails. He dipped the brush in the polish once, and painted 3 nails with it. They were uneven, and the nail was not covered. I pointed this out to him and he told me that it was okay because it was the first coat. (This is not true- every other manicure I've ever gotten has had a even first coat). The man was extremely rude to me, and was not polite or apologetic. I said to him again that I was not happy with the quality of my nails- I am from New York and get a manicure about every two weeks for less money that is of a higher quality. Basically, I was berated for the next 25 minutes while he finished painting my nails terribly. I was told that it was my fault when he smudged my nails, and he talked about me to the next customer while my friend sat next to him. My friend said something about how that was rude- no apology. My nails did not dry, and he laughed at me. This man does not know how to run a business- he treats his employees and customers terribly. He counts on vacation business, so please do everyone a favor and do not go here so that he does not get to continue to act this way. Worst experience ever on the cape. Went here to get nails done for a wedding, and was not impressed. First of all, I made an appt months in advance for the bridal party and they looked at me as if I had 3 heads when we walked in. Totally not prepared for our party, which affected our day and plans as it was the day before the wedding. I would give this place zero stars if I could. When I walked in I was ignored and later greeted by 2 very rude ladies. I had an appointment and they then complained saying they didn't have enough time to fit me in...Once they told me they could "squeeze me in" during MY appointment time, the lady doing my nails rushed and was very unfocused. She was extremely harsh while doing my nails, leaving them very sore and in pain for days. I asked for acrylics. She barely glued the nails on and if she did they were crooked. When using the dip powder, she brushed off the excess dip BACK into the container.. very unsanitary. My nails came out very lumpy and uneven and did not even last a week. They began to fall off completely after 3 days. I gave them $80 for this!! I have never written a bad review but I want to save others from this awful experience I encountered at this poorly run business. Believe me when I say DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!! read more
