Next time, I would love to try their Coney Island all beef hot dog served with chili, shreds of cheddar, mustard & onion. This was my first time here. I came for the fish sandwich and of course I located this spot on Yelp. There is a line outside to order food. The line was long when I arrived, maybe 14-16 people in front of me but it moved. Ordered my food, Thanks for being such a jewel Michelle (super pleasant) took only 15 mins for my food to be done. I ordered the fish sandwich and corn fritters comes with 5pcs. My total rounded up was $27. The corn fritters are delicious, I would order them again. The fish sandwich was good but I didn't like seeing the skin when I bit into it, it's a me thing. I know fish have skin, I just don't want to see anything dark when biting into fish but nevertheless, I had several bites and I was satisfied. I've already told a friend about it and we will be back. My first and last visit. Picture it, Friday night, date night. I'd been hearing g about this place for a bit so me and My Love decide to take a trip to downtown and enjoy. Well parking is horrible but we lucked into a great spot after circling the area for about 5 minutes #SCORE! Anyway, we walk inside, navigate through the 30 minute wait in line and place our order. 2 fishwich, 1 smash burger, fries and the kind gentleman at the window tells us fish is sold out then point to a sign IN THE WINDOW that's is smaller than the palm of my hand showing no fish. Now I've been salivating at the thought of fish for my dinner. But nope, Lovely's staff doesn't think it's their responsibility to notify of the food shortages BEFORE you wait in that line, in the cold, listening to the conversation of the annoying customer that works for Oakland Uniform standing in front of us. And to top it off, I ask why there is no notification and the guy at the counter says there something out there and points back to the smaller than my palm sign. Yet another great time at this spot and enjoyed more items. First was the chili cheese fries. Most places have the liquid cheese that get pored on (not that I don't like it), but this is certainly more artisanal with fine shred white cheddar. The chili is home made and I could taste the smokey peppers is here. While I don't drink beer I would imagine it pairing well with some of their brews. The protein style drive thru was for my partner who needed low carb dammit! I was impressed by the freshness of the lettuce and I drew so many stares from other patrons who eyed my tray with envy. I would have ordered a soft serve if the lines were not so ridiculously long. I hope they can figure out an ice cream only option for end of the meal. I love places like this. It's like turn the corner and there's the little kitchen called Lovely's that makes the most amazing burgers. Classic taste, mixed with like a smash burger. Next to it is their bar area. There was indoor and outdoor seating after you wait in line for your order. Outdoor picnic tables and settings were really nice, especially on a warm night. Pretty good spot for a burger. The line can get quite long so come on a good night and early! I usually get the classic burger. I feel mine usually needs ketchup and without it, it lacks a bit of flavor. I have yet to try the westerner but maybe one day. The onion rings were okay and the fritters were good. I like that you can buy an ice cream cone and come back for it after to the window and not stand in line again. The ambiance is nice. Indoor and outdoor space that shares with the brewery next door. This place is lovely. We stopped in for the first time last night (around 9pm). Stood in a long line that took over 30 mins just to get to the window to order. We each got a Drive Thru Burger with impossible patties and shared fries. We also got a swirl soft serve in a cup. The spot is next to a brewery and so it's loud, folx are sloshed and it's definitely a vibe younger me would like more that currently older sober me. Seating is a bunch of picnic tables. Bring layers as it gets cold. The food finally came and I was blown away. The fries were super crispy and delicious. We dipped them in ketchup and it was simple and so good. The burgers were incredible. The bun was unreal. It was so soft and supple. The cooked the impossible burger perfectly. The sauce they make was so tasty. Everything was incredibly fresh. It made the wait totally worth it. Then we were able to skip the line to hand our desert ticket and we took the soft serve swirl to the car. It was super creamy, smooth and delicious. I have finally found a burger to write about. They should change the name from Lovely's to Hamburger Bliss. "The Drive Thru Burger ". I recommend you make it a double. The meat was cooked to perfection, the special sauce on point, and the rest of whatever came with it like the veggies and such was awesome as well as the bun. After the first bite I was like In burger heaven. Now I understand why there was a line out front before they even opened. This place is actually delicious! I mean anywhere you go and there's a long line that keeps building up person after person then it must be good right!? This place did not disappoint! Customer service was top notch very friendly and a plus is once you place your order at the window they deliver it to your table. As others have noted, the wait is long! The plus is Two Pitchers is next door, so you can grab a drink to enjoy while you wait. Fries were good, but more importantly, the impossible burger was pretty tasty. I also ordered sauces on the sauce. First of the wait in line for this place was absolutely absurd. Our party of six took turns switching out in line and all collectively waited at least 30 minutes, probably longer. After we ordered, the food came out relatively quick. My husband and I split the Drive Thru burger and a fried chicken sandwich, with some fries. Both sandwiches were solid but I wasn't blown away. The chicken had a little too much coating and was too crispy, and the fries were nothing special. The burger was very tasty. I was craving a soft serve and this place actually had it - it was solid but not overly creamy. Our table split it and all had a few bites. i've been doing this thing where i make my own smash burgers at home with ground beef from the deli across the street, a slice of american cheese, and a couple slices of sandwich bread because I really can't be bothered to buy burger buns. I use this as a measuring stick to see how good other places burgers are, which should be a low bar considering the fact that I don't have burger buns or burger accessories, but it's sometimes higher than I anticipate due to the deliciousness of a fresh burger and how I don't use onions which are a nice addition, but also not necessary imo due to their steaming the meat which can really hinder the maillard reaction a smash burger is trying to achieve. Anyways, Lovely's burgers are pretty good. I didn't find their fries to be that remarkable, but if you're looking for a good smash burger, I think it measures up to my homemade version pretty well. As other reviews have mentioned, the food here is pretty average given the price point. First impressions were good as the vibe of the area is pretty nice. It's adjacent to a bar which isn't ideal if you're just going for the food as you have to wait in line with everyone else who's there from the bar. This wouldn't be an issue if they had an online ordering option but to-go is probably the less common route for most people. We got the double Westerner, drive thru, fries, and chili cheese fries. The westerner is a hard pass. It taste like any other bbq burger from any other American restaurant joint. The bbq sauce completely overpowered any of the distinct taste you might get from the smash burger patty and sesame seed bun. The drive thru was much better as you could actually distinguish the individual ingredients. The chili cheese fries were a disappointment too. The ratios were all out of whack. Basically ate chili with a side of fries and a hint of cheese. The sauces are a dollar and they charge a 3% processing fee for credit cards without mentioning it anywhere but at $15 for a burger, you'd expect them not to be nickel and diming you for just about everything. I came here to catch up with some old college homies, and the vibe was really nice. It is part of the Two Pitchers Brewery, which has an indoor bar and lounge and an outdoor patio. It is a great place to talk, eat good food, and drink beer. I got "The Drive Thru" burger with a double patty and a potato bun instead of the sesame bun. Pretty big, quality standard smash burger with all the ingredients balancing out one another. I also got "The Works Fries" and that was good, but nothing too special, just felt like an elevated in n out animal-style fries. Not sure if it was worth the price. For beer, we got a pitcher of the grapefruit & blood orange radler. It tasted more like juice which is what we were expecting so the flavors were really citrusy and crisp. Lovely's was packed at 7:30pm on a Saturday, and there was a long line to order. You order and pay first, and they deliver the food to your table (Note: you will be charged a 3% processing fee and a 1% Dining for Justice fee.) Luckily, the line moved fairly quickly, and I received my food not too long after ordering. It took about 35-40 minutes for the whole process. I would definitely recommend coming early to avoid the long lines on the weekends. Unfortunately for me, they were already sold out of the Fishwich (they only make a limited number each day).
