    Cream Cheese Bagel

Hot link sandwiches!!!!! That's all I must say. Bomb hot link sandwiches! Made to order, made fast. Simple yet so good! Huge portion. The type of bun they put it on is really big. They have a lot of other food options but the only 2 I've tried so far is the hot link sandwich & the plain bagel with cream cheese. I wasn't very fond of the bagel as it was an egg bagel and I'm not a fan. I definitely recommend this place if you're in the area and looking for a quick bite!

"Good news, everyone!" said in Dr. Farnsworth's raspy voice! This hole-in-the-wall place really delivers. If you're craving a bagel sandwich without all the unnecessary glamour that Bay Area establishments tend to add to all their culinary creations, this is the place. They're kind, efficient & make superb sandwiches. Since we're at year 2 of the pandemic, there's no seating indoors, but don't think that was really the strong suit & appeal of this place. Notable mention: The Italian sandwich. A perfect marriage of meats & provolone cheese, that you will find yourself cheating with once in a while.

Dirty chai iced is soooo good! Perfect amount of ice & sweetness. They give you a medium cup too- a good size if you ask me! Not one of those janky cheap small ones. So, quality is awesome. We got a ham, cheese, egg croissant too which was hella good- not stale bread, good amount of ingredients, warmed perfectly! The bagel we got was OK - not enough cream cheese at all. This is where they could improve. But overall, they were super welcoming and fast with my order! Love to support this small business. They're doing amazing! :)

It is absolutely upsetting that I found out about this little spot right before moving away from Oakland. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee was the right amount of sweet and you could still taste the coffee. It is such a small spot that you can smell the coffee that has been brewed from right outside which is absolutely wonderful. I have eaten the italian sandwich as well as breakfast one from this spot and both were everything I always wanted in a little coffee shop. The Italian sandwich reminded me of a NJ deli with it's taste and it may have looked smallish but I assure you that bad boy definitely fills you up. I made sure to visit once a week before moving because I wanted to leave Oakland with the memory of this Iced Coffee on my tongue and I wanted to support this business as must as possible before moving. I know that I will 100% stop by here once I go back to visit.

MLK Cafe was perfectly located and exactly what I needed. I've never had Eritrean food before, so I was pretty excited. I ordered the foul meseleh ($13) from the breakfast menu (available all day though I had to ask for it), which was a bean-based dish, and chai. It kind of reminded me of shakshuka in terms of spices but the beans almost tasted meaty. I liked it so much that I brought it home, and my partner said it tasted like refried beans (though he did have them cold). The crusty warm bread was perfect for dipping, and I ended up not being able to finish it. The chai was pretty milky; there was a tea bag and the spices weren't very strong. Then again, I'm used to Indian chais. I would pass on the chai. There was basically no one else there on a Friday afternoon during off-peak hours. It was dimly lit and kind of chilly because the door was left open, so it wasn't the most comfortable cafe ambiance. The wifi did work well though and I would come back to try more Eritrean and Ethiopian food.

That's what really drew us in. Very tasty breakfast, got the injera breakfast plate filled with lots of spices, tomato flavor and tang from the bread. Super addicting if you love those flavors. Very thankful to be given a side of yogurt to help cool the heat down. Definitely would order this again, but maybe add my own mix-ins like an egg or more protein since it's very carb heavy. Inside wise, you can watch two tv's playing sports, our waitress/cashier was very kind, and it appeared like many locals hanging out. Only thing is their menu prices are out of date. About $13 plus tax per plate. Hope to come back at night to see the bar open and some live music!

Our server was fantastic--friendly, relatable, and attentive throughout the evening, which made the experience even better. The food was definitely the highlight. The sesame bread was absolutely delicious and one of my favorite starters. We tried several salads, and the standout for me was the Brokaw avocado salad. The combination of avocado, marinated beets, cucumbers, and kumquats was unique and full of flavor. The Caesar salad was also excellent. The only salad I didn't care for was the arugula salad. I usually enjoy arugula, but the flavor profile just wasn't for me and felt like more of an acquired taste. For the pastas, the rigatoni with pork and beef ragù was my favorite dish of the night. The flavor was rich, comforting, and incredibly well balanced. We also tried the spaghetti with pesto alla Genovese. It had good flavor, but I personally preferred the rigatoni by a wide margin. We sampled a variety of their Neapolitan pizzas, and most of them were outstanding. My favorites were the rapini sausage and lemon pizza and the shishito pepper sausage pizza. The pepperoni and mushroom pizza was also excellent. The only pizza that missed the mark for me was the zucchini pizza with spring onion and ricotta salata. I'd give that one a 3/5 because the flavor combination just didn't quite come together for my taste. I had read another review where someone rated the restaurant 3/5 after ordering that pizza, and I can understand why. However, after trying so many different menu items, I would personally rate the overall food experience closer to a 4/5. The house wine was delicious, and it appears they have a rotating seasonal menu, which makes me want to come back and try new dishes. For dessert, the mascarpone gelato and blueberry sorbet creamsicle with olive oil and Maldon salt was an easy 10/10. I was obsessed. We also tried what seemed to be a chocolate pudding with whipped cream and an olive oil cake. Neither was bad, but they didn't stand out to me the way the gelato did. Overall, Pizzaiolo delivered a fun dining experience with great service, creative dishes, and several memorable menu items. While not every dish was a hit for me personally, there was far more to love than not, and I'd definitely return.

I will say, if you have somewhere to be *ORDER ONLINE*. I got there and was told to order from the self serve tablet (I could have done this on my phone ahead of time), but I put in my order and sat down to wait for it. At the 22 min mark, the two groups of two behind me got their food before I did, so I went up to the worker behind the bar and asked if my order was ready and I was told mine would be next. All in all- took 32 mins. So again, if you have somewhere to be- order ahead! Food was good. Could definitely tell it was made fresh to order - not only because it took some time but because my friend cauliflower came out PIPING hot. Lots of oil drippings, so if that isn't your thing, may not be for you, but I will say that it was my fav bite. This was a good restaurant- I would say 4 stars for the food alone. BUT if you're in a pinch, either order online or maybe save this spot for when you have more time. Also- I know that good quality food is pricey, this place is no exception. But you pay for what you get and the quality is better than that of fast food.

While this visit was in between the lunch and dinner rush, unfortunately I think they are understaffed because at the time we sat down there was only 1 person who was busing tables and taking orders. As a result, it took a while for them to be able to stop by our table and provide water, take our order, etc. There was quite a long wait between sitting down to ordering to actually receiving our food. By the time we had actually received our food, almost an hour had passed. While we were waiting, a few other servers eventually joined, but service was still pretty bare for us and we never received refills on water or plates to eat off of when we received our food. I understand that staffing and a backup in the kitchen are out of the staff's control, but it would've definitely helped for us to know in advance how long to expect to wait to align our expectations and arrange our plans for the day. Would advise giving customers a quick heads up/warning because that on its own would've made a big difference. As for the actual food, we ordered the mac trio with elote mac, chicken pot pie mac, and kogi short rib mac (for an extra fee). The elote mac was the best and most flavorful, the short rib mac was okay but not amazing or worth the extra money, and the chicken pot pie mac was very bland/flavorless and didn't have much chicken in it. The food didn't feel like it warranted the wait time and because of that I would not return.
