Have been happy with the Cinnamon Raisin bread and Cinnamon Rasin Bagels till recently. The last three months or so, I noticed that not that many resins in the bread and the no raisins at all in the bagels. What is going on. Not able to find raisins for production? I had no idea what to expect....I heard it was small, popular with the locals and that they had a large selection of bibles. Hey...it's the south. Might as well get saved while jammin' on some really good BBQ, right? We ordered a full rack to share-which comes with a side of baked beans, slaw and bread. We also had a regular bbq sandwich (w/slaw on it, of course). The specialty is smoky bbq...but if you don't love smoke flavor, you'll probably still enjoy their options. The ribs were "fall off the bone" tender and served as wet ribs (with a good amount of sauce). Sides were delicious and the sandwich was also just right. (FYI-the sandwich was ordered with mild bbq sauce-hot was an option as well). There are a couple of tables outside, but plan on doing takeout. We had to go out to Oakland for some supplies yesterday and we decided to drop in to Loven Fresh for some bbq. The second you pull up and open the car door, the aroma envelopes you! I joke with my wife all the time calling it "Real Man Cologne". It's that very aroma that permeates the pork. We got it home and I swear...there was no need for sauce! my husband and I went to Aldi's and bought a loaf of your 100% wheat bread. When we opened up the bag each slice had big holes in them. Because of that we could not even put mayonnaise on the them because the mayonnaise would fall through the holes. Been getting BBQ here since it opened over a decade ago and as of this week it's still great. BBQ nachos is my go to order for myself but their BBQ sandwiches are always nice too. Sides are good overall but the beans are the star side-wise. The inside is insanely small, standing room for 6 or 7 people maybe. It's carry out but there two tables outside I've never seen anyone eat at if you realllllly wanted to eat there. Only complaint is their hours. Their hours are shorter they were in the past (7pm is pretty early for closing). They also are only open Tuesday to Saturday. read more

This place really needs a dining room. That's my main deterrent from eating here. I really wanted some ribs and since I hurt my foot, I couldn't cook my own. They told me the ribs were a day old. They looked good. I was just not impressed at all. I am a complete rookie amateur and mine are better. Aside from these tasting a bit old and overcooked, I thought they were too salty. I ate a few and put the rest in the fridge. I never did finish them because they weren't great the first time. The pulled pork however was incredible! It was melt in your mouth meat heaven. I can't say yet if it was the best I've ever had, but it was one of them. It was certainly better than my own BBQ. I'm trying to decide if this was 3 stars or 4. I was walking on crutches and there's nowhere inside to sit down, so I asked if I could wait in the car and if they would bring my order to our car. You can taste the smoke in the meat - but don't drive by the Car Wash A friend of mine at work introduced me to Loven BBQ. The first sandwich I had was soooo good that I really could taste the smoke in the meat itself - not just the sauce. In fact it was so good, I recently took my wife to sample the good food. Well, after we drove by the place - twice - I remembered he said it was next to a Car Wash and a Laundromat. Once we got there, we did enjoy the good BBQ; my wife had the regular size and I had the Boss Hogg. Although it was good, I am sad to report that it was hard to tell the difference in size. I think there was only 1 ounce of meat more in mine, for $1 more. Next time I'll get the regular size - or maybe 2 of them! As much as I enjoy the meals & sandwiches here, I'm disappointed they no longer make cakes. Not sure if there is still baking going on. My husband was told they no longer do it. I know that's not for everyone so add my own extra at home. Plenty of meat and cheese sauce and chips. Definitely get your money's worth. Be warned though; If you have an appetite for BBQ, you will be tormented as you drive down Hwy 64 if the hickory smoke that seductively rides the breezes off their smoker should blow your way. It's basically not much more than a closet on the end of a self serve car wash and laundromat. An interesting and well appointed little closet...but minuscule. Get it to go...unless you want to eat at the little tables outside at the end of the building. But hey...it's all about the pork, right? In addition to some of the most flavorfully smoky meat in a hundred mile radius, the retro feel once you walk inside is an unexpected bonus. I had the pulled BBQ plate with beans and slaw for sides. The sides were good. The pull is very good, delicious smoked meat. The sauce was very nice, just enough on the sweet side.
