I liked the vibe of this place, and there were lots of customers. I'm not a huge bagel person and that's a big part of the menu. My friend had the smoked salmon bagel and it looked the part. I had the beef dumplings with chili crisp oil. Was so disappointed- they looked amazing but there was literally no taste. Including the chili oil - how is that even possible? I think these might have been frozen and then zapped in the microwave. The "meat" was a tiny hard ball that I couldn't cut easily. Ugh. I tried loveski because I had read good reviews, but this meal was a huge disappointment. The corned beef sandwich was very skimpy, it didn't have much meat in it and looked nothing like the photograph elsewhere in yelp. The taste and the quality were barely adequate and the $30 ticket for the sandwich and iced tea is ridiculous overpriced. The second dish was a green salad with what was called roast turkey. The salad greens were average, what you would see at a salad bar or a cafeteria, really just that. The roast turkey tasted like deli meat that was purchased from the outside. Same thing, $30 ticket for this salad and iced tea is ridiculous overpriced. And it's not over priced where you get great quality, it's overpriced and you get mediocre quality. I cannot understand the reviews here, the good ones, because my dinner was nothing like that. I would not return to this restaurant, I would just go to Souvla around the corner, which has much better quality, superior flavors, larger portions, and lower prices. I was there at 6 PM on Saturday evening, July 6, and the place was empty, that alone should have been a clue. Because Marin county Mart, and several of the other restaurants, at that hour, is very busy. Honestly, I don't see how these guys stay in business for too long, based on my visit. The young lady taking orders and staffing the cash register was nice. But the kitchen is sorely lacking and quality control appears to be non-existent. Consistency seems to really challenge Loveski. We've been very loyal customers since they opened. Recently we had a to-go order that was not good for several reasons...unfortunately like many restaurants they appear to have significant turnover. Out front the woman who takes orders is a "tip watcher". She looks good and hard at the tip and lets you know if she approves in her way of acknowledging. The management is also culpable in that they start the gratuity option at 15%. The food took a deep dive in taste and presentation also. The Tuna melt was overly cheesy, the potato latkes retained a lot of the oil fried in and there was an off taste present. Also the brisket went way downhill in taste and amount of meat....but I guess if it doesn't taste very good I don't want more of it. The food is ok and DEF not worth the price. I made the mistake of coming back after getting 2 x $22 Pastrami sando's that had 5 tiny little pieces of pastrami each. I asked the manager if there is something she can do about it like give me an extra slice or 2 and she said the price is the price and pastrami is not cheap. Serious ahole tone too. This will be the first and only time I eat at Loveski. It was such a waste of money. I order a pastrami on rye sandwich, which I only took a couple of bites out of, but couldn't finish. I really wanted to finish it considering it was so expensive. How does a place charge $23 for a sandwich that isn't even good? Such a rip off. You're better off hitting up Rustic and getting more food, for 30% less money that tastes better. They charge $6 for a normal sized chocolate chip cookie. If the owners had more business and marketing sense they'd price some items lower and stack the sandwiches so it'd be something people would want to post on IG. First time here for lunch today and we loved it! So glad to have a good bagel in the area finally, and they have so much beyond that. The latte was among the best we've had, the yeast bagel was delicious, and my husband loved the cookout sandwich. And the real hit was the latke, with applesauce and sour cream. We all loved them so much, we got a second order. Seasoning on everything was just right. The only item we didn't love was the kids' pizza bagel, which was fine but not very flavorful. I love me a lox bagel, and to top it off, the bagels are made with a sourdough starter? SOLD! Got the everything bagel with lox and the bagel was the perfect mix of chewy and soft. As a regular at the Loveski in Napa, I was really excited to try the new location in Marin and it did not disappoint. From bagels, to amazing sandwiches (don't miss the chickpea sandwich if you are vegetarian), crispy latkes, delicious babka and some of my absolute favorite chocolate chip cookies. I highly recommend all of the pastrami, whitefish and turkey sandwiches if you're heading there for lunch. My wife and I got some takeout from Loveski for the first time. We got the beef dumplings, latkas, chicken soup, and the Reuben. The food was good. If you come here expecting Katz's in NY or even Brent's or Jerry's in LA, you will be disappointed. You won't find Mile high pastrami sandwiches or loaded kreplach soup. The beef dumplings were small but tasted very good. The potato latkas were also small but were very good. The Reuben was also very good but a bit too spicy. I visited Loveski in Larkspur on Friday, Nov 8th around 7:30pm and ordered food to go. The food was ok, but because of the open kitchen, I watched the lady make my sandwich without food handling gloves. She handled my pastrami with bare hands, which made me loose my appetite! Granted, she may or may not have washed her hands before making the sandwich, but I prefer my food to be made with food handling gloves, to be on the safe side. Additionally, while making the sandwich, the lady was speaking loudly with others in the kitchen. We all know that as you speak, a small amount of spit comes out. Unfortunately, that must have fallen on my sandwich! So along with my pastrami, I had a bit of spit and whatever germs were on her hands! I expected better. read more

After reading about this new "Jew-ish" deli in Marin (that's long been a desert for this cuisine), I thought I'd give it a try. The menu looked interesting enough with a few tweaks to the traditional NY-style delis. Walk in to a long-ish line to order from a single cashier. I was waiting for a friend, so no biggie. If you're in any kind of hurry, it could negatively impact your experience. My choice was a smoked whitefish salad with something called Thai chilis and a spicy mayo. Intriguing, right? When it came on two slices of medium sized soft rye and nothing else but a very young dill pickle (or old cucumber) it was unimpressive presentation. One bite... oy, the salt. Two bites... oy, oy... it's going back. Have you ever had a salt sandwich? I knew it contained whitefish because I also bit into a fishbone. I explained to the Team Leader (her actual title) that the sandwich was inedible. She offered a replacement, so I went with my second choice the Chopped Salad with Smoked Salmon. It was large and mostly composed of chopped lettuces and cabbages. The vinegarette dressing arrived in a cup on the side. I'm still waiting for the smoked salmon to arrive. Oh there were a few bits here and there, but nothing to justify the name of the salad. The kitchen team must come from a salt loving culture as my friend's second bowl of matzah ball soup was a sodium festival as well. Seeing a review here about a month ago that also complained about the heavy salting of the food, I wonder if these reviews are even read by the owner, manager or Team Leader. The piped in music was too loud, which they turned down after a request. Giving two stars because the server provided a replacement meal without a fuss. My first visit was disappointing to say the least. I suspect that the lines will become shorter, unless and until some changes are made. read more

The matzoh ball soup has a perfectly balanced broth with diced carrots, celery, parsnip and dill. So delicious. Lox bagel with the famous yeast bagel is delightful. The lox is so delicious. Bagels have a good flavor but they are sometimes burned which is a no no. The tribute is rich and meaty. Thick cut pastrami. Yum. My only rec is more cole slaw and toast the rye. Coffee is great too!
