I have been here 3 times for lunch because I wanted to give this place a fair shake. I want a great Jewish deli nearby. This is not it. It's far more 'ish' than Jew by a long shot. Way too expensive for the quality & quantity served. I expect to pay a premium for great food. This isn't great. First visit I had the smoked fish sandwich. That was the best item I've chosen. Decent size, nicely smoked fish, not bad. Second visit I got a salad & added tuna fish. Thankful I had the good sense to add the scoop of Tuna salad or I would not have had enough to eat. The salad was side salad size, not an entree. The tuna salad was ok, not great. That was $18! Today I decided to give them 1 more try. I ordered matzoh ball soup & a brisket sandwich. Again, unremarkable. The soup needed salt & had very little chicken flavor. There were pieces of parsnips & carrots that had little flavor. The matzoh balls? Again not great. I've had far better in real Jewish delis. The brisket was plentiful but not very flavorful. BTW, those 2 items were about $30. When you walk in you don't smell good food cooking, typically whoever is behind the counter barely acknowledges customers. The friendly person is the guy who delivers orders. Let me start by saying I love pastrami, and the pastrami here is SO good! Disclaimer that I'm mostly comparing their pastrami to Katz's in NY because it's the only other Jewish deli at the top of my mind. I came here with my bf on 1/1 for lunch, and it was almost packed, but we got a table for 2 easily. You order at the counter, get a number, and then pick a table (diner style). Then they bring you the food as it's ready. There's a few small tables indoors along with bar/counter seating. Then they also have an outdoor patio with some tables. I got the breakfast bagel with sausage (everything bagel). It was delicious, love that it comes with a latke inside. Yum! I'm a terrible judge of bagels (comparing CA to NY), but this one was very good when it comes to flavor and texture. My bf got the tradition sandwich which is your choice of pastrami or corned beef with a special mustard on rye. It comes with a homemade pickle. The pastrami (which he let me try) was so good, just enough fat and juicy. I didn't try the rye or pickle, but the mustard was good. He said the pickle was very tame (probably like the less flavorful pickle from Katz's-the greener in color one). I want to come back and try the corned beef and brisket sandwich. I like that the menu has traditional options but also some with an Asian twist, so I definitely want to try the more unique flavors next time. Service was fast and friendly. We bussed our dishes because I think you're supposed to. My only advice or "ask" would be if possible, can you provide bigger water cups? They are pretty tiny. My bf had to refill ~3 times. And my only "complaint" is that every item seemed to be a la carte. I wish a sandwich came with chips as an example. However, most delis are like this. It's just that the prices are a little high (but it's Marin and high quality food, so I get it.) The pastrami sando is $20. But it had a lot of meat, so I think it's worth it. The ambience is delightful with vibes of a fresh take on the old school deli. Lovely to sit inside or out. Second, the service was friendly and speedy. The food was notable! So why just three stars? It's really a plea to bring back the corned beef sandwich. I grew up in Cleveland and haven't had a plain corned beef on rye that compares to Goodman's deli that closed around 2010. OMG! I just had the best Corned Beef Reuben of my entire life. And on the West Coast too. I got the Loveski Reuben with the kimchee and gochujang on the side just because it's different, you get it, but once I put those on the sandwich... my taste buds were blown away and it all came together. Christopher had a vision for modernizing the tried and true classic and he nailed it. Beyond words nailed it. Last time I had the Corned Beef and Swiss, which was really good too but nothing like the Reuben. The bagel and Smoked Salmon is also insanely delicious. This is a mediocre deli at best. For the price of the 6oz Pastrami, I expected a melt in your mouth sandwich. The staff was very nice, but it is obvious that they are not authentic deli people. Cannot imagine this place will stay in business. Upon glowing recommendation from the counter person, I opted for a take-out brisket sandwich, an $18 item which came to almost $22 with tax and tip. Got it home to share with my husband. It was TERRIBLE. The brisket dry, bland and tasteless. The Dutch Crunch bun to filling ratio was 60% bun to 40% filling. There was a minimal curl of melted nondescript cheese as well. The pickles were semi-dilled. The cherry peppers were the tastiest part of the whole mess. I would rate this a zero if I could. Recommend you go to Pig ' n Pickle in Corte Madera instead. Buy a terrific $16 brisket sandwich there or take home a half pound of their BBQ brisket and make yourself super happy! read more

I love Loveski. Everything I've had here is great: whitefish bagel, whitefish sandwich, matzo ball soup, bagel & spread, mini latkes, breakfast sandwich. I'd probably go once a week if I lived in Marin. It's that good. If you order a bagel & spread, I recommend getting the spread on the side, because they slather a lot on + you don't have to scrape it off later to reheat the bagel. My fav bagel is the yeast bagel. This review is primarily for the gluten free bagels. I've been here 3 times and the quality has been pretty hit or miss. The first two times the bagels were really fresh, soft and nicely toasted. Today they were really stale and not toasted - not a great combination. I personally like my bagel with a lot of cream cheese, and every time I've been promised that there will be an excessive amount. All 3 times I've been disappointed. :( Two times I've added tomato to my bagel and each time they were served differently. Last time I got it open faced with one slice each, this time I only got one tomato slice per side of bagel. Will probably not go back anymore. read more

Yay!!! Finally a wonderful bagel spot in Marin. I tried the heirloom tomato bagel with herb cream cheese (comes with plain) and everything bagel which was divine. The bagel was fluffy and that perfect chew that we all love. The herb cream cheese was tart and you could taste the herbs as it should be. The heirloom tomato was beautifully ripe and they sprinkled finishing salt and pepper on top... thank you for seasoning things!!! This is Jewish food about as much as Taco Bell is Mexican food. I only tried a sandwich, but nobody in the Bay Area has ever been to a proper East Coast deli and it shows. Not enough meat. They wanted to add cheese to a Jewish meat-based sandwich, so I had to turn that down. The turkey was some kind of gelatinous sliced deli loaf instead of a house-roasted or smoked. The rye bread was spongy soft like Wonder bread. The mustard was the best part of the sandwich and the half pickle on the plate was very weak, lacking vinegar-y taste or snap. The food was righteous. The menu features much of the traditional foods you expect from a Jewish deli: Bagels, matzo ball soup, corned beef on rye, brisket, reuben, latkes, whitefish, lox, and house-made pickles. But they also feature scrambled egg matzoh brei (pastrami and cheddar scramble) miso and fermented onion shmear, and a few other intriguing twists on the traditional fare. I got the Loveski Reuben on toasted and buttered rye with hot corned beef, swiss, white kimchee, and gochujang dressing. And I gotta tell ya, it was SOLID. The gochujang (Korean chili paste) and kimchee (in place of sauerkraut) were not as overpowering as you might think. The thinly sliced corned beef was the dominant ingredient and it was good and fatty. The other ingredients served well as a Russian dressing stand in and provided a spicy, earthy undertone that balanced the flavor of the meat. A friend's wife is a proclaimed connoisseur of Reubens and she agreed that Loveski's was really really good. I also got the house-made pickle and I was surprisingly disappointed. T'was very bland and I suspect not altogether finished being pickled. Kind of an abomination, really. I've had a lot of Jewish deli pickles and this one's at the bottom of the barrel. Son Nick got the braised, shaved brisket with onions, pickled vegetables, horseradish mayo, and au jus. With a sweet tang, the au jus was better than some we've had and the sandwich overall was well-balanced. The roll had a crispy outer crust, but was not too hard as to impact the experience. The pickled veggies were a nice touch (and increasingly common in deli sandwiches). But overall, the brisket sandwich was a disappointment. Rob was also disappointed. The prices are high, and I'm sure this will eventually be a topic of conversation in Yelp reviews (it always is). But in Loveski's defense, they are paying very high rent and they're also not the most expensive delicatessen in the Bay Area. That honor is shared by Saul's in Berkeley and Mark & Mike's at the SF Ferry Building. Okay, so was it made with love?  Hey look, it was very good. And I'm not about to pretend to know the hearts of strangers. But I do have my doubts as to whether the "made with love" bar is one you can consistently hit as a restaurant. I think perhaps the recipes were formulated with love. The branding clearly has a lot of love in it. Been wanting to try this place for awhile, but parking can sometimes be a nightmare at the Country Mart. So when I got off early from work I thought I test my luck and I'm so glad I did. I ordered the Tribute sandwich with an iced tea which came to just under $30 without a tip. Yes, a little pricey but what isn't these days. The pastrami was cut thick which gave a nice toothiness juxtaposed against the soft rye bread and crunchy slaw with Russian dressing. The pastrami was very tasty with peppery crust. I was sooo excited to try this spot but ended disappointed. I think this place has potential but needs to step up their portions a good bit. Green goddess salad- amazing dressing and very crunchy lettuce. Fresh and lovely if you like dill. No protein though so feels overpriced. Chop salad- fresh and great combination of ingredients, but the flavor wasn't anything special. Salmon is listed as an ingredient, but there must've been a sliver because I didn't taste any. GF bagel - not really close to as good as a regular bagel Pastrami egg bagel - what I was most excited for and most disappointed in. For a jewish deli, I would expect pieces of pastrami in a pastrami dish, and this meal had hardly any pastrami. It was about 3 x .5cm cubes in the whole thing, just mixed in with the eggs. I would expect and hope for a "slice" of pastrami. We found this cute deli while we were in town waiting for a ferry and it was so cute when you walk in! We were warmly greeted as well by the man working there. IMHO, Loveski bagels are better, but their schmears aren't as good as Boichick's. Good problem to have with both so close by. Thai fried chicken, a new dinner add, was also pretty good, with spices that gave it an identity without being overwhelming. Nice take on a classic dish. Only suggestion would be to either halve the breasts or get smaller ones, because the large ones tend to get a little dry when fried. Best fried chicken around is Keller's in Yountville. As a lifelong New Yorker now living a bit further afield, I was absolutely thrilled to stumble upon Loveski's Jewish Deli! It brought back all the nostalgia of my childhood, and let me tell you, the pastrami sandwich was perfection on a plate. Juicy, flavorful, and just the right amount of lean--this is what a pastrami sandwich is meant to taste like! The atmosphere was delightful, filled with laughter and the cheerful sounds of children and young families. It really added to the charm of the place! The service was fantastic; our cashier and floor staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. Hard working people. Now, I have to mention the tuna salad--it was delicious! Light, flavorful, and just the right amount of mayo. My husband opted for the beef dumplings, and while they were a tad too spicy for him, the rest of us couldn't get enough of the spicy oil. Had to try the foundation foods: Bagel with salmon & The Traditional sandwich. Healthy portions! Salmon was wonderfully smoked and the pastrami in The Tradition was perfectly seasoned. We also had the potato latkes which were cozy and nostalgic. Decor is fresh, clean, upbeat with a classic flair. Friendly and helpful staff-smiles and family feeling all around.
