Turkey cake for Thanksgiving - please make sure you see a picture before you order. This is not their turkey cake pre-COVID. Purchased before & was big hit at office. Everyone was amazed at how real it looked. This year it cost $40+ for what looked like a defective round cake - high on one end, lower on the other with a couple of mini frosting "legs" stuck on it (did not look like legs much less drumsticks) and a couple of frosting carrots around edge. Looks like less work to create this than to make and frost a decorated birthday cake. I was so impressed last time that I took a picture and ordered one for my brothers family in TN so that we could zoom & eat turkey cake together. That bakery did a better job off of a picture than the cake I picked up today. I am embarrassed that I talked this cake up and now I have to take it in. If you want something that looks nice, get the cake decorated like a turkey decoration. I also can't believe I drove 50+ miles out of the way for this cake. Would not have purchased if I hadn't prepaid. Service: The staff is very courteous and professional. I kind of felt badly for the young woman who waited on me and saw the look of disappointment on my face when I picked it up. She was kind. TLDR: Horrible customer service, meh food and everything overpriced. Website has mysteriously been taken down? Why? Too many negative reviews? Initially I reached out to the bakery for information on renting a room for a party via the *contact us* option and never received a response. I called and was rudely rushed through my questions and told repeatedly to to look at the website but was given the email address despite my objections. I left 3 messages and voicemails, emails and no return call. Finally got the party planner and was quoted a price of $223 for a package for 10 guests and made a reservation but was later charged an extra $50 to rent the room on top of the cupcake party price, bringing the total up to almost $300! I swear the website and planner said that the room was included. Is anyone actually ordering cupcakes, frosting, pizzas and soda to go?? When I called to confirm and give the final total, that's when everything changed. Not only was my reservation lost but the terms changed, food changed, total price changed. I was terrified thinking I had sent out invitations and didn't have a party. I had no choice but to pay the extra and make the best of it. The bakery floor was dirty, our room was dirty and needed to be swept and tables cleaned before I could decorate. Pizzas served were supposedly Antioch Pizza, nope. They looked like they were reheated from the night before or from somewhere else. I literally could've and should've gone anywhere else for $30 per guest! The reality did not meet price or expectation! Gaslighting, lost reservations, no customization allowed on the packages, rude staff, last minute price changes. The whole experience lacks quality control of goods and services - poor communication and customer service, maybe 3 out of 5 bakery quality. Read the reviews. A fair portion are negative and express my same negative experience. I should have given the bad reviews more weight and looked elsewhere. 50/50 chance you won't be happy. Please - go literally to any other bakery or party place or snack shop! read more

Chicken dumpling soup oh, I got home excited to try well there was not one dumpling in the soup! There was a half a baby carrot and the chicken will you needed a microscope to see it the soup was horrible the broth I guess I should say it wasn't soup. I called asked if I got the right soup. She told me but she had some soup and she didn't get a dumpling either and if I hadn't already ate my soup I could bring it back and get a refund. Customer Service has been horrible lately! Most recently I went to the Round Lake location to order a custom cake and they took 15 minutes to just talk to the Antioch location about the cake I wanted. They came back with a price of $445.95 for a cake that feeds 40 people (Yup +8/slice). When I asked for a break down the person was not able to explain why. The General Manager was no help either and insisted that the price was the cost of a sheet cake + 375 for a 3D design. They quoted me the same price as an elaborate 3D baseball stadium cake with the center cut out... when all I wanted was a square cake with a baseball field drawn onto it with a small layer on top. This was the worst experience and although I have done all my birthday and special occasion cakes with Lovin Oven, I will be rethinking this if they are going to have such horrible customer service and management. read more

No surprise that this place has a great assortment of cakes, pies, cookies, donuts and pastries. What is a surprise is that they make really great scratch made breakfast. Delicious quiche. And their breakfast omelette sandwiches on their croissants are amazing. The only criticism I have is that their system for ordering and paying when you are eating in is very inconvenient and confusing. For example, if you're getting a bakery item you have to go to one counter and then for a breakfast item yet another counter. You then have to go to another counter to pay for every thing. Have not been to Lovin Oven Antioch in awhile, today when I walked in there were several customers in line, took numbers and waiting. There were some customers in line down by the cash registers also. A few staff were waiting on customers and also have to do the cash register. The next customer they waited on, the staff asked whos next, did not call a number. A customer walked up and said they were????? Also a customer came over from the deli/coffee area and went up to the girl at the cash register and said can you wait on me he wanted some cake, we were all still waiting in line with our numbers. I waited ten or fifteen minutes, there were 3 girls at the registers I don't know if they were doing special orders or what. If you have a number system you should use it to be fair and all customers would be waited on in a timely manner. After waiting so long I just left, not purchasing anything. Hubby was waiting in the car and he said he did not see any customers leave the entire time we were there even though there was plenty of staff in the store. I would recommend someone should be in charge to keep customers moving and to use the tickets/number system. When they first opened they had cashiers that only worked the register, the other staff filled the customer orders, this seemed to work very well. I don't like staff handling the money at the register and then pulling the baked goods. What a beautiful bakery! There is just so much to choose from and the staff is so nice. Everything looked so delicious. We tried mini tiramisus, a cheese danish and a custard donut. All were very good. We also purchased two really cute sugar cookies for our kids that I'm sure they will love when we they get them. We will certainly be paying many more visits to this bakery!
