i really enjoyed my experience here. i am not vegan but my boyfriend is. usually he'll get whatever single option is available to him so it's nice to go somewhere where the ENTIRE menu is available to him. i got the bbq vermicelli bowl which is something i love to get at any vietnamese type place. vietnamese eggrolls are my favorite food. what i loved in particular from here moreso than a non-vegan place is that i never had to worry about fatty or chewy bite because it was all soy. i've seriously had to respectfully spit out so many bites of food because the meat quality was gross and that just WASN'T EVEN AN ISSUE HERE. every bite was a banger! and because it wasn't real fish sauce, it didn't leave a lingering smelly taste in my mouth. very date friendly. my bf got the lemongrass rice dish and an avocado smoothie (which they make with fresh fruit) and we both went home with slices of cake. i did think my pandan slice could have had more flavor overall but it was very moist and not too sweet which is such an asian compliment. he got the red velvet and ate the whole thing down bad. we'll definitely be back. also thought it was funny that on the back page, they also serve burgers and tacos! like okaaaayyy! maybe next time! read more

So, there is a Loving Hut locally, in Northern CA where I live, so naturally while visiting the Anaheim area with family, we yelped for some dinner options and when I found this location.... I was excited! They actually offer many different meals that are diverse from other Loving Hut's I've visited. We ordered teas, smoothies, entrees, soups, rice, BLT, etc.... The food was delicious! The service was pleasant, and the atmosphere seemed calm despite a small inside seating area. However......... At the register up front while closing out our tab, we were all standing there and looked down at various types of fresh baked (packaged) vegan cookies. They had PB, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, strawberry, you name it! We actually ordered two different kinds. A package of the strawberry, and a package of the peanut butter. We were headed to Echo Park for the evening and vegan cookies sounded lovely. I have attached photos to coincide with my review...... basically... We didn't eat the cookies right away. Found parking, headed to the park lake, found some seating, perfect weather.... and as we started to completely digest these delicious cookies........ we noticed mold. Fuzzy, dark in color, bacteria, NOT food safe at all, mold. In the center of the cookies. Multiple cookies. I love the idea of Loving Hut, I will continue to support the business locally..... but..... this was a serious letdown, on vacation, visiting a restaurant in Los Angeles. It literally made me sick to my stomach. I like 3 dishes from here but my issue is spoiled or less than fresh food. Sometimes it's the protein in the soup, other times it's the rice and other times it's the vegetables. If only I knew my food would always be fresh but it's hit or miss. And the leftovers go bad super fast here like they don't even last a day. And the burger was so gross it used to be one of my favorite things here but they cut the raw onion so thick and it just tasted off and the lettuce was so old it smelled and was mushy. The food is too expensive for me to throw some of it away because it's rotten. This has happened several times over the years but has gotten worse in the last 9 months. I've been to loving hut before however, it was at a different location and apparently from the previous owners. The ambience was exactly like I remembered it very simple, simple seating. Very similar to the other location. I was craving one of the signature fried noodles that I haven't had in quite a while and it always reminded me of something out of dintaifung. Which was how I found out that they had a changed owners... for years ago... apparently I've been out of the loop and didn't know. So because they are not the same owners as before not all of the menus items transferred over. However, the young lady behind the register was very nice and friendly and gave me some good recommendations. And recommended the Mi kho. And although this noodle wasn't exactly what I was looking for it definitely did hit the spot and it was very tasty. I feel like this is always a great choice if you're craving a vegan dish. I appreciate the peanut sauce not being too sweet since I sometimes have that problem when eating this kind of dish. Orange blossom lemonade was super refreshing and hit the spot!! I wish I could taste the orange blossom more but that was no fault to them since I just came out of a dentist appointment. The numbing didn't help me at all here. From the friendly owner to the quality of the food to the overall homey family atmosphere, this is one of our most comforting rotation establishments. I got the Mi Kho the first time and it left an marvelous lasting impression. The noodles, soy protein, mushrooms, lettuce, bean sprouts all came together in a harmonious blend of deliciousness that was made even more magnificent by the accompanied sauce served on the side. It was effortlessly light and did not feel at all heavy on my palate. The owner chatted with us during the meal and this gesture added a personable touch to our experience. The showstopper was the pandan cake at the end. Oh my word. THIS CAKE. It will have you delirious with unparalleled joy and absolute euphoria as you imagine yourself frolicking in a field of aromatic pandan leaves with coconut flakes fluttering all around you like winter snow. There are a couple other flavors to choose from such as pineapple, strawberry, chocolate, and red velvet. They also have vegan jerky and other sweet or savory snacks available for purchase on their counter. I have bought the spicy jerky here and it is superb. The Au Lac Salad is light and tantalizing. Two thumbs up for the rich and creamy blueberry smoothie, which they also helped to adjust on the sweetness. Out of all the Loving Huts that I've frequented in California, this has got to be my favorite. Small, cozy, and great food (and prices!) make this a must-try in the area. We stopped by during a recent trip to Disneyland since this was one of a few handful of vegan restaurants in the area. The dining area is a bit small so if you aren't comfortable eating inside quite yet, best to order takeout. To start, we indulged in their Crispy Chicken Nuggets ($6) which were nicely fried pieces of soy meat served with a sweet and sour sauce. We then went for their Aulac Salad ($9) which was the refreshing salad that we needed to compliment our side and main. Our main was their Mi Khao ($11), tossed garlic noodles with soy protein, veggies, and their house sauce. Everything we had was delicious, satisfying, and filled us right up. For dessert, we took home a slice of their fluffy pandan cake and it was the perfect dessert. Not overly sweet, soft like a sponge cake, and filled with pandan and minty goodness. We savored this slice for a few days while at our hotel. Service here was incredibly friendly and inviting as well. The kind lady spoke to us and gave us some tips on how to navigate our upcoming Disneyland experience. Sadly we didn't have time to check out the beach (just a bit too out of the way), but we appreciated all the recommendations. The food is SO good. I got the tofu fried rice and honestly it's the best fried rice I've had in a very long time. The smoky wok flavor, the caramelized and perfectly separate grains, the chewy rice. It was PERFECT. The facon had great smoky bacon flavor. The black pepper skewers are good but lean a tad sweet for my taste (I just really like in your face savory). The texture of the chik'n and beef were pretty good for vegan meat. I'd honestly come here just for the fried rice regardless of protein options. The tangy orange is supposed to resemble orange chicken but it was nothing at all like it. It's all in the sauce to mimic that dish and quite disappointing. The battered fish resembled the real thing but lacking sauce. Had lots of slaw and pico de gallo but barely any of the white cream sauce. Which made the whole thing bland and dry. I visited with a non-vegetarian coworker on a Thursday afternoon for lunch. Parking in the lot was easy and we had our choice of seats inside as we were the only patrons when we arrived. Restaurant decor was simplistic and colored in white and green. The menu was filled with great vegetarian options, most dishes were traditional Asian type dishes but other options were available. We ordered the Blazed Burger and the Orange Chicken. Both were brought to our table in a timely fashion and were nicely plated, in good portion and very tasty. My burger was nicely textured and of the perfect consistency. I loved the touch of mustard. Service was friendly and helpful. My friend (who had never had the non vegetarian version) ordered the Vietnamese cold noodle with bbq and fried spring rolls.. he was floored at how delicious and refreshing it was! His wife ordered a bunch of appetizer-- fresh rolls, chicken drumsticks, chicken nuggets, dumplings.. and she loved all of it. Her daughter got the pad Thai (she was not a fan) but her dad ate the leftovers and thought it tasted great.
