We ordered spring rolls, the Heavenly salad which I didn't expect much but the chicken that came with had hefty portions along with the salad which was great, Pho Xao noodles taste and flavor exceeded my expectations, the Au Lac Curry was rich with flavor and texture, the spicy lemongrass chicken was great with the veggies that came with it. But though everything was so delicious, by far the best was the Royal pho which was the best pho I've ever had, this pho went off the charts! The restaurant looked elegant and high class although it would be hard to find if it wasn't for the sign outside pointing the way. Yum! This place is going to be a staple of mine! Nice bright ambiance inside the restaurant with animal statues lining the super cutely decorated patio out in the back (which is dog friendly!). The spring rolls are huge! And they come in an order of 4 that I wasn't prepared for but they were so good that I didn't have difficulty finishing 3, my husband ate the other. I was honestly a bit disappointed this time. I ordered the curry, pho, and bun rieu, and all three were really bland, almost like plain water, with barely any flavor or seasoning. The food at Sun Vegan was a big hit with our group. My friend ordered the Au Lac curry and said it was absolutely divine. Several people at the table ordered the veggie rolls and those seemed to be very popular as well. I ordered the tomato noodle soup and the broth was incredible. It was rich, flavorful, and comforting. There were quite a lot of noodles in the bowl though, and since they are not gluten free I didn't end up eating them, but the broth alone was worth it. Some friends also ordered smoothies and dessert and everyone said those were great as well. One thing that really stands out about this place is that they serve fresh herbs with your dishes. It adds so much flavor and freshness and it's something you don't see offered at many restaurants. It really elevates the entire experience. We had a large event there and the restaurant was completely full, probably around 30 to 40 people. The wait staff did their best to accommodate everyone during such a busy time and worked hard to keep things moving. Okay, wow!!! The Sun Vegan is SO good. Everyone who mentioned the lemongrass chickun were onto something because I was genuinely amazed by the portions, punchy flavors, and array of textures. The heavenly salad was really refreshing too. I actually wish I got more salad instead of rice because it was that good. The pandan cake was also great -- the frosting tasted like any ol' frosting, which is great because I was worried about it tasting like an alternative milk, like coconut. The restaurant also looks beautiful and open inside; it's cozy at night and the tables are spaced out pretty generously. I appreciated that because I get overstimulated by lots of noise. One note is that we had a server who asked us 5-6 times if we were ready to order... I was asked like 2 minutes after sitting down lol! I think the waitress said she was new, so I'm hoping that has improved since. It was a little offputting. But otherwise I would 10000% recommend this restaurant. If you're a fried tofu fan, it's a no-brainer! Royal Noodle Soup GFO Only had a sample of this dish but I can say it's very tasteful and delicious! If you're in the mood for some Bun Bo Hue, you should order the Royal Noodle Soup! Pho Ap Chao This was my dish and I can say it tasted amazing! Pan-fried flat rice noodles is one of my favorite styles of noodles and I think The Sun Vegan did a superb job on this one! OVERALL I'm actually glad my girlfriend recommended this place. I've been going here for almost ten years. It's wild to me that ten years later the soup is still just as good when I had it the first time. I've had pho and bun hue over the years. Service also was good and food came out extremely fast. The reason for the three stars was unfortunately I felt that the food was too sweet. The bun bo hue vegan beef and pork pieces were really good but the overall soup base was so sweet. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls also had a slight chocolatey flavor but they were ginormous! I can't even put into words how much I love this restaurant. We order from it at least once a week now. Everything is absolutely delicious and the employees are so sweet! My husband usually picks up my order. So I haven't been in the restaurant myself. But he said it's very nice and clean, and neatly decorated. He also said that it's very quiet. The Au Lac Curry is out of this world. Absolutely delicious--it blew our minds (or should I say, our taste buds?). My best friend and I both agreed it's one of the best vegan curries we've ever had. The only one I can compare it to is the vegan curry I used to get at Inner Peace Cafe, which I believe is now Saigon Vegan (change of management, I think?). The presentation was immaculate. At first glance, the dish looked modest--much humbler to the eye than the impact it would later have on our stomachs. The menu's "mild" label had us expecting something light on spice and flavor... we couldn't have been more mistaken, and in the best possible way. The broth was deeply aromatic and flavorful, and combined with the mix of vegetables (pumpkin, carrots, zucchini, mushroom), it felt like something straight from the deities' pavilion. I imagined enjoying this on a soft, rainy day, with the sound of gentle raindrops hitting the windowpane. Pure comfort. Heavenly. The setting only deepened the experience. The restaurant's architecture is its own kind of beauty, with ancient China-esque paper and wooden lanterns suspended from the ceiling, casting a dim, soft glow across the room. I'm not vegan, but this is one of my favorite places to order from. Staff is always very kind and orders are ready within 15 minutes. I usually order online for pickup and have never had issues with incorrect orders or anything of bad quality. Royal Pho Noodle Soup is my favorite. I really appreciate this place. The people who worked there are super nice and I love the concept. It was nice to have so many options. I knocked it down a couple stars due to lack of flavor. The royal soup was bland. The stir fry noodles I got were not good. I got the crispy version, but the noodles were super oily and a big glob that was stuck together (imagine veggies on top of a funnel cake). I had to bring it home and chop up the noodles with a knife and fork. Also the sauce was watery so it didn't coat the veggies-- and it was also kinda bland. However they did add a crap ton of veggies which I loved. My husband and I both added spoonfuls of chili oil and chili paste and some hoisin sauce. My friend and I came here for dinner on a weeknight and it wasn't very busy. We were greeted upon entering and seated immediately. We ordered the Spring Rolls and Spicy Lemongrass Chicken to share. The spring rolls were big and stuffed with lots of fresh vegetables. They came with a side of peanut sauce. The Lemongrass Chicken came with a side of rice and Heavenly Salad. I checked out The Sun Vegan which is a bit hidden in a neighborhood but close enough to stop by. The place inside is warm and lovely, I felt like I was in another country. The food was pretty good! But the experience was a bit eerie. The restaurant is obviously associated with the Ching Hai cult and honestly made the experience a bit uncomfortable. There are images of Ching Hai (the leader of the cult) on the walls and a large TV plays a live broadcast of the cults propaganda. If you look into the cult, you will find a very strange allegiance to Donald Trump... which feels a bit ironic considering it's a vegan restaurant and he promotes US dairy and meat products very openly.
