This is where I really am a firm believer that good vegan food makes you forget about meat (I am not even vegan or vegetarian). These are my faves we got: 1) Vegan Pho (5/5): The soup was amazing!! Very flavorful with umami goodness from the shiitake mushrooms. I loved the vegetarian meat balls they had in there which was very soft and perfectly seasoned. They also had tofu curds which were bouncy and soft to soak in all the flavorful soup. They used vermicelli noodles in their pho and it worked well! It also comes with vegan Vietnamese ham, onions, scallions, and cilantro. If you were to just choose one item this would be it! 2) Portobello Tenders (4.5/5): These were massive fried portobello mushrooms that came with a tangy, rich sauce. I think it's cool there's a fully vegan Vietnamese restaurant around the area! The lady serving us (who also might be an owner?) was very kind and helpful regarding food allergies. We tried the fried portabello tenders and I got the stir fried noodles. The tenders were nice and crispy, I just wish they had more seasoning for flavor on top. The coating is pretty heavy too, so you'll feel full afterwards. I like that the noodle dish didn't skimp on veggies, protein or noodles! It was a huge portion size and good enough for 2-3 meals. It all started with my coworker bringing me some egg rolls from Saigon Vegan and the rest is history....I am now a full on fan of Vietnamese vegan cuisine. The egg rolls from Saigon Vegan are excellent. They are hand rolled with taro, impossible beef, mung bean, mushrooms and glass noodle. I love how crisp these egg rolls are. They have the perfect crunch at first bite. The filling is so hearty and flavorful. The taro really stood out for me. I can say without a doubt that these egg rolls are on the top of my list of the best Vietnamese egg rolls I have ever tried. A few weeks after trying their egg rolls, my coworker brought me Saigon Vegan's garlic noodles to try. This was another delicious treat. I loved the yellow stir fried noodles topped with vegan beef strips, mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, tofu and a sprinkles of Parmesan. I was impressed with how all the ingredients came together. Tea is fragrant and floral. This is a mom and pop shop, so the wait can be a little long but please be patient! A slight wait is a small trade off for good food at such good prices. My partner and I came in one evening (Friday around 5pm) to grab some dinner since we were in the area visiting some temples and the Asian Garden Mall to buy myself an ao dai. Bun Bo Hue: I love Bun Bo Hue, so I always try it any chance I get whenever I see it on the menu. They mentioned that this was their most popular dish so I had to try it. When it came it came with a side of veggies and a lemongrass chili sauce. First I tried the soup, I felt a little underwhelmed because of how hyped this dish was, I let my partner try it and he agreed. But I saw the lemongrass chili sauce with the veggies so I thought "Eh why not, let's just add it in" and OMG. you NEED to add this sauce in! It completely changed the flavor profile and was hands down the BEST bun bo hue I've ever had! That sauce gave the soup so much body that I had to slow myself down before I choked on a noodle! This dish is a MUST HAVE GRAB! Do not sleep on this dish! Banh Mi Curry: My partner ordered this dish and they came out with a bowl of rice instead of the banh mi we ordered, they were able to correct this pretty quick once they toasted the baguette. The amount of curry looks pretty small but the flavor profile was amazing, it was sweet and savory and when dipped with the banh mi it was amazing! The amount actually felt enough! In fact, we were 1 of 3 patrons. The owner/server is nice and quickly brought us the menu along with a glass of water.
