Lowes is the upscale Home Depot. Cleaner, more friendly. More oriented towards the consumer than HD (who gets a lot of contractors). Prices are roughly in line. However, for bigger ticket items, I suggest using HD/Lowes as a convenient display with hands on - and then go buy your items online via eBay or other online retailer. Relatively high price Items like fixtures can often be purchased new online at up to 50% discounts. Their self service check out is more annoying that HD's system but works fine. However, anyone who says they get doubled charged is an idiot - how difficult is it to listen for the scan confirmation beep to know when you've been charged? Unfortunately, this world is full of idiots and all too many of them end up in the self service lanes end up posting nonsense on forums like this. read more

This store has the absolute worst telephone answering and call directing service I have seen; ever! The male operator was downright rude and half asleep. The lady operator was helpful but after spending 30 mins and making SIX! attempts to reach a department (including trying the store manager twice), I finally gave up. I called Sears and had a great experience that ended up in us buying two major new appliances. For a while there I thought they had the edge on Home Depot, but alas, it seems NOT. read more

we love this new Lowe's. Each time we go there are many helpful customer service reps around, coming up to us and offering advice or assistance. We find the store to be clean and bright, warm and easy to navigate. They have just about everything you need for your home or garden. A great place to go to wander and look for ideas too! read more

I actually had a rather positive experience at this Lowe's. I was looking for a pipe for my dryer and the staff was very helpful and he actually showed me the product and taught me how to replace the pipe. This Lowe's is not as buys as the Home Depot on Hopyard so it was easy to get assistance. One time I was at Home Depot and was waiting for a long time and still couldn't get anyone to help. read more

Lowe's as a whole, is a nightmare. I don't know how they stay in business. Very inefficient and disorganized. This isn't a store issue - the employees are great! It's a corporate issue for all Lowe's stores. Hopefully Lowe's Corporate realizes every Lowe's store has Home Depot just down the street. I don't know if Home Depot is any better, but they certainly couldn't be any worse. And if they ever open a Menard's near me, I'll be done with both Lowe's and Home Depot. read more

The in-store experience at the Dublin store was good. I live in Fremont, but had to drive out to Dublin to pick out the redwood decking I wanted because they were the only store in the region who had sufficient stock. I joined the Lowes4Pros system to get a better price on the wood and the delivery. I ordered the delivery on Saturday and was told it would arrive on Tuesday morning. On Monday I was told via text that it would not arrive until the afternoon on Tuesday. On Tuesday morning I was told the truck had broken down and they would deliver on Wednesday (no time given). Wednesday came and went, and still no lumber. On Wednesday evening the delivery company told me they couldn't get it to me until Friday morning, and that I would be first in line. Then on Thursday they told me I was third in line, but the truck would arrive between 10am and 2pm. The driver arrived at 2:15pm, whereupon he lowered the forklift to the street and then it died and would not restart. So I had to offload the wood by hand (16' and 12' boards, 15 of each, pretty heavy) and the driver left in his truck leaving a broken forklift in the street with the forks sticking out at windshield height, and did NOTHING to provide warning to motorists. The best I could do was to cover the forks with white trash bags and tie them on and hope no one comes around the corner in the dark and impales their cranium. No cones, no reflectors... NOT GOOD. So, I have been a very unsatisfied customer for the better part of a week, with no resolution or help being offered from Lowe's except for a "Sorry for the inconvenience." No... "inconvenience" is having to wait in line too long at checkout. Losing time and money is more than an "inconvenience." It is disgraceful. read more

Sent to Lowe's for replacement bulbs and garden stuff for my house. It was hard for me to find help, and when I finally found help. I received attitude from the worker and told me they didn't have the bulb. I did not give up, I still continued to look in the lightening section for the bulb because I bought the bulbs at Lowe's before. Finally, someone was nice enough and helped me find the bulbs and come to realize that he wasn't even an employee!! I can't say I won't come back here because I love Lowe's and it's a great store but had a bad experience this day. read more

This store is so frustrating. They are ALWAYS out of stock when we need something and it takes weeks before items are restocked! Went in to grab a gallon of valspar cabinet enamel and guy told me they are out of it. After 15 mins of calling the one other Lowe's near me that showed one in stock (just kidding they don't have it) I told him it's not ok to run out of paint. When people need it they need it that day. They have apparently been out of it for two weeks and so t know when it's coming back, but 16 are in order! UGH! read more

Good as far as home improvement stores go. Great place to buy plant life on the cheap. Wide variety and selection. The garden area seems a little cramped. I wish it was more spacious, but otherwise its good. shop there if you can. read more

All the workers here are very helpful and friendly. Every staff that I had walked by had greeted me and asked if I needed help :) even though I couldn't find everything I needed cause they don't cut the metals and stuff, still the nice staff made up for it . I couldn't find light neutral colored vinyl sheet (not vinyl tile) at Home Depot. Surprisingly there are two decent choices at Lowe's with reasonable price. People working at store are friendly. read more

Nice new store. Very clean. Lots of parking out front. Lowes has a pretty good selection of plants and brands that Home Depot does not carry. It's easier to find things at Lowes than HD, plus Lowes will have unadvertised in-store specials. In my experiences, it seems Home Depot employees offer more assistance than Lowe's, asking if you need help. read more

Whenever I think of home improvement, I see orange. I hate orange! My experience has been that I never can find someone to help me and the place is always dirty and cluttered. Today I dropped in to Lowes. This place is huge. Wide aisles, no dirt on the floor. Plenty of people around to ask for help, I must have talked to at least three different people who were more than happy to steer me in the right direction & help me with my questions. In the Home Decor dept. they no longer sell the product I was looking for, but the girl I spoke to gave me some options to try to find it. In the plant department the guy told me right away the plant I was looking for was not in stock, but they will have more coming next week. (that info alone was worth a star saving me the time of walking outside in the nursery & heat any more than necessary!) I like the blue carts, smaller than orange and much easier to maneuver. read more

Lowe's has the worse customer service ever. We order two barn doors on-line that were estimated to be ready for pickup two days ago. We did not hear from Lowe's so decided to call the store to follow-up. The call to the local store routed us to 10 different person picking up and putting us on hold only to find out they don't know what happen to the order. They left it as they will call vendor tomorrow to follow up but it's not in the store. Next day we decided to call to follow up only to find that you cannot get a hold of anyone from the local store (Dublin) or the customer service number provided on their website. We should have learned our lesson the first time when we order carpet from Lowe's and it took three months to install because they forgot to place our order until we called to inquire. I think I will stick with Home Depot for now for any large special purchases. I'm not even sure if Lowe's care to read the reviews on yelp. Next step is going to the store to talk to them in person although I doubt we will get any answers either. It's also very hard to get any help in store as well as the people who work their avoid you at all cost if you legitimately need help. read more

If you just need to buy something they have in stock and don't have to interact with a checker, you're fine. But ordering anything from them is a special kind of hell. You will likely talk to a competent person in whatever department you're working with. And you will be lulled into a false send of security. Don't be fooled! If you need to engage with anyone outside of that single person - and you will, because Lowe's seems to have a knack for screwing up even the simplest of special orders - you will be confronting a Lowe's employee whose specialties seem to be equal parts apathy and stupidity. Calling the store is pointless; they somehow manage to be even less helpful over the phone. You will have to go to the store and hope that (1) the original person you worked with happens to be working at that day/time, and (2) you can find that person. Lowe's may be slightly cheaper than other places. But it isn't worth the time or frustration. There are much better options in the Pleasanton/Dublin area. read more

Customer service was not as great as I would have liked but once I found an associate he was very helpful from a didn't get up, but pointed me in the right direction kind of way. But it's Liwes do if you need something for home improvement I'm sure they have it and the prices were reasonable read more

Overall, it's kind of hit and miss as to whether you will get good help here. But this past weekend Ralph the "expert" really went above and beyond. He gets 5 stars. We had four things we needed and he walked around with us for about 20 minutes finding things and discussing exactly what we would need to do to get the jobs done. He was helpful and fun; great sense of humor. Really amazing, I wish all the employees were this helpful and with such a great attitude. Attitude at this store is usually 50%. Sometimes fantastic, sometimes the employee obviously doesn't want to be there and you feel like a bother. read more

I've had two lousy experiences at Lowe's. The first - I ordered a huge rug online and went to pick it up at Lowe's. The girl at the customer service desk said it will take about 10 minutes for them to retrieve it. I sat down on the benches to wait. After 20 minutes I went to ask for an update. She said that it wasn't in the right spot but it was coming. I was really hungry and tired of waiting so I told her I was going to grab a bite to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings (in the same complex) and come back. I came back after about 45 minutes and guess what?! The rug was still not there! The workers had NO sense of urgency or apology. One of the girls called to the back and a guy came out. I explained how I had been waiting over an hour and I really didn't get a good answer why. He was really surprised I had waiting that long, apologized and went and retrieved the rug though it took another 10 minutes. I was left so confused as to why I had to wait so long as the excuses didn't really make any sense. That was a few months ago. My second lousy experience - I just visited last week and again they had terrible customer service- rather it was 'lack-thereof'. I looked around in the kitchen cabinet area, the dishwasher area, as well as the lighting. NOT ONE employee asked if I needed any help or had any questions. And I know I looked clueless as I was. There were workers in each of the departments I looked in. Some walked by me in the aisles. I was looking at all of the outdoor lights for about 5 minutes and there was a worker right there and he did not even ask me if I needed help. Not trying to be a drama queen but you would think that at least ONE worker would ask if I needed help or had any questions. I'm sure they have some great employees but they might as well fire some of their lazy employees and hire robots as they might be more helpful. Or perhaps have a discussion with their employees that they should really engage with customers as most people getting stuff for their home will have questions. And speaking of robots, I used the self-checkout lines as they did not have ONE lane open. WTH? I scanned my first item and put it in the bagging area and the checkout robot barked and said I screwed up- y'know the whole "unexpected item in bagging area" (*eyeroll). No reason for that business. The worker came over and like a robot herself, didn't say a word, and put her code in so I could keep scanning my items. These two experiences were really bizarre. So keep your expectations very low when visiting this Lowe's. read more

Update....posting this to be fair. Lowe's has been in contact with me after the fact. The Dublin store general manager contacted me on my follow-up email inquiry. He invited me to go back and shop at their store and offered a $100 gift card with sincere apology. Appreciated the effort and the initiative to make things right. read more

Steven in flooring is the miracle worker. I have dealt with him on several occasions, and unlike many of his peers, he knows what he is doing, and does it well. He has gone above and beyond for me. I had a potential bad experience brewing with a large carpet order and he made sure everything was resolved to my satisfaction. read more

Pathetic customer service. Waited for 20 minutes and paged for help but no one appeared. Gave up and left frustrated.

Terrible customer service. They delivered a damaged washer. Told me they would replace it the next day while the delivery team was at my home. They called back to schedule delivery and told me bc I declined the damaged washer I had to wait until they received it in the store which means another 24 hour wait for me. No managers would help to override the rule even though they should have told me to keep it when I originally called. The delivery and store managers are on vacation so I am the one that gets screwed. Since they don't deliver after 5 and I have a job, I now have to wait until 4 days to get the washer. They get no stars from me. Twice I've visited and there is little to no customer service. Went to return paint and was told they dont return mixed paint. That's funny because they have a country wide commercial that states you can return paint for any reason. The clerk and the manger decides to go back and forth with me all the while there's a huge sticker posted on the counter that says " No Hassle Returns". The manager also tells me "each store is different" when I explain that I have returned paint at another store before. Well that can't be true because the company is not franchising. Purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher from this particular Lowe's and thought we'd follow that with a KitchenAid refrigerator. We purchased the extended warranty and within one year started experiencing issues with the ice maker, which had frozen up on the inside, upper portion of the fridge. Since August we have tried patiently to get this resolved. We have spent over 15 hours on the phone (really; 90 minutes just today) and had at least 8 visits by service reps all to no avail. We informed the store, but they said we had to work through the extended warranty folks. Given that didn't work, we reached out to Executive Support at their headquarters and had assurances they would see it resolved, but unfortunately never heard back even after we left repeated voicemails. Hundreds of dollars of food wasted. Hours and hours wasted waiting for service reps and talking with Lowe's Service Advantage reps, etc. Buyers beware. Update: April 2018 and we've still not heard from the store (thought for sure Anna would call), headquarters or even the repair outfit they last called out. read more

They always have what I am looking for. With the economy being what it is - seems you have to look a little harder to find help. But when you find it - you actually receive service. I mean - they don't just point to where something is - they walk you across the store and make sure you find it. OMG - I think that Lowes MGMT actually took Customer Service 101!! Yippee!!
