I was looking for one of those low to the ground Rubbermaid heavy plastic footstools and I guess I looked a little lost... This gentleman came to my rescue and even unstuck the top one from the pile so I didn't break my nails... We talked on my way to the self checkout and he actually lived in the San Fernando Valley where I'm from. What a coincidence! I was on my way to Home Depot but stopped here - and I'm so glad I did! The footstool was perfect and also less expensive than at the Depot!! Winner, winner! I used to go to a different building material store. After consistently bad service, I thought I'd try Lowe's. Holy smoke, they are so nice, and the store is clean! Prices are about the same, but the experience is better. The Pro account is easier for accessing benefits. At this store, more than some of the others, the plant clearance has fairly healthy plants that they just want to move out. That's a nice treat. I only wish they rented large equipment too. Lowe's sent a representative to my home to measure and select the appropriate door for the entryway from my patio to the garage. To say the customer service I received was disappointing is an understatement. Called and spoke to a manager about my stock chest freezer. After only a few weeks of operating it stopped freezing. By the time I noticed it was not cooling it was too late. Hundreds of dollars lost. I called 30 days from when I purchased and told me I have to deal with manufacturer. He couldn't care less about the loss of food or keeping my business. Called their customer service line.. they offered me 10% of the item... This was purchased for $99 Black Friday deal... So they offered $10 back to me. Asked to speak to the Store Manager and the same assistant called me back, told me he already spoke to me, nothing they could do. When I asked to speak to the Store Manager again he told me left, wouldn't see him, and I can try and reach out. I asked him if he could email him to give me a call. I'm still waiting for my call weeks later. The fact that this manager said we can't return it because they have a 48 hr return policy. This is crazy. I can't believe all these bad reviews for the palm desert store! My experience here has been just the opposite. This week I went twice to the lumber department with my puppy LuLu and Gil was so pleasant and helpful both days. He was there to help me immediately and found everything I wanted asap both days. The lady at the check out was so funny and loved LuLu too! I never had to wait at anytime. I was in and out within minutes ! We are evacuees from the Los Angeles fires and were purchasing respirator masks (easy to order for pick-up online and much cheaper than anywhere in the area) for when we have to return and she just showed us such kindness and let us know we could call the store to get whatever we needed to make staying in LA safer. I ordered a door on August 5th. Brian told my husband and I that it would be in on or around September 10th. I went a week or so ago to check on the status and once again Brian said,it looks like September 10th. If anything changed, they would let me know. I called on September 10th, finally got through and was told the truck wasn't there yet, to call back in the afternoon. My husband went over in the afternoon, and they still couldn't answer. There is an incredible selection of insect repellant supplies. Huge section of appliances, from washers and dryers to dishwashers and stoves and refrigerators. They have it all. Don't bother coming. Stood there waiting for help in the washer and dryer section. Finally an elderly white employee came and asked if we needed help. We asked for help for washer and dryers. He came back with someone but they went and helped another customer who came after us ( they were white) who complained about paint chipping on their new washer. No one else came to help. One lady saw me almost slip and fall on a slippery substance on the floor. She immediately went to go wipe it. When we asked for help she "went to look for help". We left shortly after. I didn't want to write this review but the last 2 x I came the service has been practically non-existent. Last time I came for paint it was horrible. The guy literally walked away from me. If you want a clean ish place to buy stuff that is readily available for a more expensive price this is the place. Don't expect help. I've been going to this Lowe's for many years with no issues. On 7/13/25 I bought a Hisense mini-fridge for $189. I removed the packaging the next day and found a huge crease on the top corner, and found the entire fridge was sort of bent from the back. I turned it on, the interior light when on, but the motor did not run. The crazy part was the packaging had no damage- the mini-fridge was packaged with all the exterior damage from the factory- China I believe. I suspect the fridge had been dropped after production, and before it was shipped. I took the mini-fridge back to Lowe's on Monterey, where I bought it, the next day, 7/15/25. When I walked in I saw another Hisense mini-fridge that had just been returned sitting on a flat cart at the return desk. What happened next was a shock- Lowe's refused the return, and would not refund my VISA card. They claim they have a 48 hour return policy on major appliances. This includes, according to them, mini-fridges, ceiling fans, microwaves, etc. This policy is not stated anywhere! Not at the check-out stand, not on the receipt, not where the sale item is located, nowhere. Where is it stated? A very small sign taped to a pole at the return desk. As it turned out I was about 10 hours past the 48 hour return rule. The night manager Rita was extremely rude to me. She would not refund the purchase. Eventually she told me to leave and walked away. I left the mini-fridge there and left. Rita kept my receipt. The next morning I stopped by and spoke to the manager, Jesse. Jesse was at least friendly, and listened to my issue. He said the system would not allow him to refund the purchase because of the 48 hour rule. Jesse offered me another Hisense mini-fridge but I said no, I obviously had issue with the build quality. Jesse knew nothing of my receipt, he gave me a copy using my credit card. Later that day I decided I was in no mood to start a dispute with Lowe's and my credit card company- so I texted Jesse and said I'd try another Hisense mini-fridge. Jesse said fine. I said I'd be there in 10 minutes. Another text comes in- Jesse can now refund my purchase back to my VISA card. The receipt? It has now been found I guess. The credit did come through on my VISA card. This 48 hour, unadvertised, return policy is absolutely crazy. Be forewarned- check your Lowe's purchases immediately to verify condition and operation. Letter to the CEO----Dear Mr. Ellison, my apologies for contacting you but I feel it is a necessity. On 01/10/24 we purchased a Smith Signature 100 50 gallon water heater at your Palm Desert, CA store. We scheduled our installer for 01/28/24. After opening the box the Installer said this is not a new WH. It was a Smith pro-max Dated 2006. We packed up everything and went back to the Palm Desert, CA store. We were not greeted nicely nor did we feel welcome. We had to explain to a few people. The manager basically accused us switch saying he had video of us leaving with a sealed box. I argued with him and asked how? He saw a white sticker which is attached and put in the number and stated that we purchased it in La Quinta but he was puzzled why our receipt was Palm Desert. The one we bought was purchased in la Quinta yet showed up to be sold again in Palm Desert. It never showed as being returned. He told us he contacted the fraud department. We asked to see the video of us and the other purchase, he refused and said we could not. I said you can accuse us and now when it possibly concerns one of your employees taking a old tank and putting it out as new. The bottom of the box had been sealed back with a glue gun. He refused any other help told us to take the 2004 tank and leave. He said the Fraud department will call you tomorrow(01/29/24). No one has called. Rather than pay our installer again, we went to Home Depot and bought another water heater. I have pictures of our old and the 2006 water heater we bought from Lowes. Can't believe we were treated badly by your mistake and then when it turns out there may be fraud on an employee of yours part, yet there is no apology. The credit card company said they will ask for all the records and videos. We have been Lowes customers for over 20 years now, never treated so badly. I opted to go to Lowes for carpet replacement for two rooms before we put our home on the market. One room needed both carpet and padding replaced and the other needed just the carpet replaced. First and foremost trying to get a sales associate to help with flooring at Lowe's is as painful as going to a dentist. I walked out after 30m of waiting for someone to help (this was after I'd already had them come to measure my space) their "national sales rep" called me up and assured me on 7/25 that he would provide better service if I'd give them a chance. Here it is on 6/7 and I've finally had my fill of the run around from them for this project. They refused to only do carpet in the room that didn't need new padding, so I took that room off the scope and decided to just have it stretched (the carpet is only 3y old so not an issue to do so). When I took the second room off they significantly increased the price not only for labor but also for the disposal of less carpet. When I asked for an explanation of the difference they didn't even have the original quote that they had given me just a few days prior. If it's this much of a headache just to get the carpet ordered I don't even want to imagine what the ordeal would be like to have them do the project. Literally 2 weeks of time wasted. read more

Update 5/22! Returned the covers we bought for this non-existence furniture, and they still have it on display on the show room floor! Tsk tsk. I feel sorry for anyone who tried to buy this set! Delivery scheduling was a nightmare! Saw the display item on the sales floor of the Allen & Roth Maitland sectional & table set and ordered two sets from the patio department. Sales team, especially Inyet, were absolutely wonderful. What went wrong was the delivery date (purchased 4/12 and delivery was set for 5/13). We don't live full time in Palm Desert so we planned our trip based on the delivery date. We were lied to by another associate the day before the expected delivery, we went to store in person just to double check the delivery status. Were told their "installers" weren't available on 5/12, that they would be there on 5/13, they would be there on 5/14 and get it on the truck on 5/15 for delivery- meaning 1 day later after we would leave for going back to San Diego. By 9am on 5/15, Lowes called to say the furniture wasn't even yet available to deliver!! And they could not tell us WHEN it would be! We immediately asked for a refund ($6K) We hope they pulled the display pieces off the floor because they are selling items that aren't available and will never be able to deliver! Shame on the Delivery/logistics department for the utter inconvenience of it all. Lowes Palm Desert does not offer customer service. Whenever I call, I must hang up and call at three times to get someone to answer. If someone answers on the third ring, they will connect you to a department that doesn't answer. So you have a choice, call back or forget it. If you order in person inside the store, don't let the salesperson answer the phone. They will completely block you out and attend to the person calling which may or may not be personal. I was in the middle of a substantial window blind order when the salesperson answered a call. She forgot I was there and start taking an order from the person calling. Later I told the manager, a young Hispanic, who dismissed my complaint and me. Told me to shop elsewhere. I did. I went to Home Depot and they took my order without answering the phone or helping others! read more

He complained that he could only cut the lumber into 2 pieces. It wasn't busy. I was the only one in there. He said only could cut into more pieces if it was the same measurements. If I could give a lower review, I would. I purchased a portable dishwasher at Lowe's on Monterey Avenue in Palm Desert on April 21, 2022. It was to be delivered in a few weeks. At the time of purchase, I added a 5 year extended warranty for $154.97. The dishwasher was delivered to my home on May 18, 2022. At that time, I discovered the store had sent me a built in dishwasher when I had ordered a portable. I contacted the sore and requested a refund for the dishwasher and extended warranty as I did not want to wait another month for the correct item. The store advised me on May 18, 2022 that a refund would be issued once the dishwasher was received back in the store. Lowe's picked up the dishwasher on May 20, 2022 but did not process the refund until May 23, 2022. On that date, Lowe's only refunded the price of the dishwasher. They did not refund the $154.97 for the extended warranty. When I contacted store manager Jesse Ornelas, I was told that since 30 days had passed since I bought the extended warranty, the store could not issue a refund and I would have to send an email requesting the refund. At that point, I informed the manager that the only reason the 30 days had passed was the sores fault and it was agreed that the store would send an email on my behalf. The refund was never received and I filled a dispute for the charge of $154.97 with my credit card company. On August 5, 2022 I received a letter from my credit card company stating Lowe's said that goods were as described and received in good condition and that the charge of $154.97 was added to my account. I simply can't believe how many times Lowe's dropped the ball on this. read more

In all the years I've been coming to this store I have never received more special attention and help with all my questions then your employee Lanette. She helped me by even leaving her department to take me around to all the different departments to find all the items I needed. I was very surprised she gave me all her time and attention - and even helped me carry the merchandise up to the checkout, as I had almost 3 carts full of items. Waited for 10 minutes and had someone call to help me in the paint waited another 10 minutes asked another employee to call again waited ANOTHER 10 minutes and no one showed up. It was obvious no one was coming after waiting 30 minutes. Went to grab blinds and pressed the assistance button to get them cut. Waited another 10 minutes and no one came. I left because it was obvious no one was coming to the blinds either. I walked out of the store not able to purchases more than half the items I needed cause no employees came to help me in a 40 minute time frame. Beyond annoyed I get employees get busy but 40 minutes without being attended too while asking for help MULTIPLE times is absolutely ridiculous. read more

I usually have an "ok" experience at the Lowes on Monterey in Palm Desert, but not today. I bought a washer and dryer and was given a 4 hour window for delivery. I needed to step out and get a prescription. I called the store and after a unpleasant exchange trying to get the young lady to find my order with my phone number (she rudely insisted my number was not my number) , she finally found me and confirmed the 4 hour window which was at this point down to 3 hours. I asked if she would confirm if I was close to delivery or if it would be closer to the end of the route. She lied and said there is no way to call them. I know for a fact they can call she simply chose not to. My time is equally if not more valuable to me. Im going to leave and get my prescription. If I miss them I'm sure they will load it again and deliver it when I'me ready. It unfortunate that she just didn't take a moment and provide service with a little effort. Lowe's project folder includes the following marketing collateral: "Thank you for trusting Lowe's with your installation. Your project is in good hands." A simple project in my 2nd home evolved into a frustrating arch across 14 weeks; simply put, I wouldn't trust Lowe's Palm Desert Millwork Department in building a dog house for my back yard. Lowe's association with American Building Supply (ABS), a subsidiary of Jeld-Wen Windows and Doors, is ultimately the root of damage upon the Lowe's brand and should be strongly reconsidered as a premier vendor. My project history includes: * 3/22/22: Order placed with Salesperson Brian Staight; anticipated delivery 6 weeks. * 5/18/22: A&C Window and Door Specialist texted pictures of damaged painted doors (not shipped with any protective covering). * 5/18/22: I reordered with Salesperson Brian Staight with a request that painted doors be delivered with protective packaging to prevent damage. Brian Staight promised a 10% adjustment would be made following arrival of 2nd order. * 7/20/22: Doors arrived from ABS; Salesperson Brian Staight inspected doors and indicated via voicemail message no damage was noted. * 7/21/22: Appointment scheduled with A&C Window and Door Specialist for installation on 7/25/22. * 7/25/22: A&C Window and Door Specialist arrived for pickup at Lowe's Palm Desert and indicated their concern to Salesperson Daisy over damaged doors. Product was delivered by ABS to Lowe's without ANY protective covering, despite 5/18 request. * 7/25/22: A&C Window and Door Specialist delivered doors for installation as scheduled and noted damage to doors (all documented in photographs). Product was returned to Lowe's Palm Desert by A&C Window and Door Specialist. * 7/25/22: I returned to Lowe's Palm Desert, joined by A&C Window and Door Specialist team, and spoke with Managers Daisy and Jerrie. The "best" that could be offered to me as a customer was reordering the doors for a 3rd time, with no promise that the same situation wouldn't occur again. There was seemingly no urgency to contact ABS to troubleshoot the issue. I went in to pick a green for my guest bathroom ( I wanted a soft tropical hue to add to the Hawaiian theme) When I selected the color swatch, she asked me more about my project & guided me to a much better choice that came out FANTASTIC.
