Unfortunately this was the closest hardware store to my house for many many years. I went only because of convenience,but I went often. The help in the store was usually worthless. Generally someone would ask you if you need help (the asking is really just a recent addition), you would tell them what you're looking for, and they would say that they don't have it. I have stood one aisle away from the item I am looking for and people will tell me that they don't have it! Amazing. It's also very difficult to get advice on how to do a project. Generally I expect the people in the departments to have some experience with what they are doing. Recently, I was in the painting department where the paint person told me that they really don't know much about paints. Ugh! I bought items online; they didn't make it clear till after purchase that they needed to be picked up (for some reason, while others were delivered). I downloaded the app. I sent that I was "on my way" through the app. I parked in a curbside pickup and texted the number, as the app asked. I realized sitting there that on of my pickup items had to be removed from a locker with a barcode--I went in and got that, and the app told me to "sit tight" while my other items were brought to my car. I sat tight for 25 minutes. I went inside and they had ONE employee at the Customer Service/Pickup Counters with four lines of customers waiting. I got frustrated and saw my items in the back room and simply walked in and grabbed them, bringing them back to the pickup counter. The young man handled my frustration with incredible grace--Isaac was his name--and recognized my frustration and helped me out at that point. This place is a shit show--always has been. Do NOT get fooled into "curbside pickup"--it wasn't even busy at the store. They are taking advantage of young black men like Isaac with their infuriating ineptitude. read more

This is regarding the Lowe's at 2700 Ranier Ave S only I've been to this Lowe's twice, and it was two times too many. Don't waste your time here, read below for more details: The first time I went was to get an AC. I came in on a Tuesday at around 6 PM, the store had some people in it-- but I soon realized the employees were no where to be found. I wandered the store trying to find someone, and none could be found. Eventually I just went up to a register and asked the cashier. After I found the AC, I noticed that there was a huge power truck right in front-- again no one in sight, so I snuck underneath the area and luckily was able to pull one out. When I got out-- my shopping cart was gone-- I guess employees here do exist! Like little evil elves, they wait till you are out of sight and them Bam! make your shopping experience even worse. The second time was to buy moving supplies, same situation but I actually saw a few employees this time. In fact, one was sitting on top of a flattened stack of boxes I needed for my move. So I asked him "Excuse me, I need to get some of those boxes"-- he replied "Man, you just want them because I am sitting on them, that's so rude". Of course that's the only reason I could possibly want large size moving boxes, to make a 2700 Rainier Ave S Lowe's employee actually move. Not having good experiences with Lowes. My wife was physically threatened and extorted for money n the parking lot by a guy with staples down his chest. Then I scheduled a dishwasher to be installed by them, and 10 days later the installer cancelled on me. I paid in advance and don't have time to baby sit them to fulfill their promises. I have been visiting this store for a few years now since its very close to my place and always had a good experience. However since the last couple of months I've had bad experiences with the store management. The store manager 'Chi' is rude and insulting. He made claims that I used atleast half the product before returning it without even taking a look at the product. He was insulting and started saying loudly that "its because of people like me that they dont accept returns". When I asked him to check the product and substantiate his claims, he said " well, thats what I think". Being spoken down to , when I asked to speak to a supervisor he said that he was the boss and that I was free to call customer service and complain. Another associate at the blinds section (with no one around that she was helping) seemed very annoyed when I asked help checking for a item not seen on the shelf( available in store when I checked online), she told me that she was doung three things at that moment . She also suggested that this should be expected and asked me to tell people that there are hiring. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had to give one star to post this review. I would say negative 10 stars is being extremely generous. They can't seem to answer the phone and when they do they disconnect the call. I can't tell you how many times I've called trying to reschedule a second delivery. This was because they delivered a damaged dryer the first time. It's more than frustrating when you get a call stating the time they will be there or the window of 4 hours and they don't show up. This has happened on 3 separate days. Yes, I have time to take off work on a Wednesday for delivery and I've waited Saturday and Sunday on a holiday weekend dealing with complete idiots. Fun holiday weekend. Don't take the word of any managers either. They'll lie to you right over the phone. Seems they don't know what's going on either. Lowe's SUCKS! Go to Home Depot!!!!! PS: Lowes subs out deliveries to Logistics. Not affiliated with Lowes. I must say they have excellent customer service and worked with me to get it delivered but then again Lowes stepped in and canceled my 3rd delivery and wouldn't load it on their truck. If we could give no stars, we would. We had a decent experience when we replaced our refrigerator, so we thought of Lowes when it came time to get a new dryer. The purchase was fine. Getting our old dryer out and our new one in, however, has been abysmal. Even though we were told that the delivery truck would be equipped with the appropriate power cords, when they came to install, we were told they didn't have it. They said they couldn't get our old dryer out, so they placed the new dryer in our dining room and left. After they left, my 73 year old husband (who had to take time off of work for the delivery) easily moved it. There have been many phone calls back and forth over a week with no real resolution. All over a 3 prong power cord. We were assured that the dryer would be delivered well before my husband's cancer surgery, yet days after the surgery, I still have two dryers sitting in my dining room. If you want fast, expert, and seamless service after the sale, Loews is not the store for you. read more

On balance, I think Lowe's deserves a decent grade. It has quite possibly some of the worst help in most departments, but has a decent garden section and a few folks who actually know what they're doing. I appreciate that there's a pretty good lumber dept. and some of the lumber guys know a few things. I think they deal with contractors a lot, so they are more knowledgeable than the avg. employee. I know most people have pretty bad experiences and I would definitely not buy anything large (e.g., appliances and such) there as I wouldn't trust it to be great or that they would take care of me... but what do you expect? read more

This is probably the worst hardware store around. The staff is always rude, and it almost seems like they hire them off the street. Stuff is hard to find, and employees will actively avoid eye contact and turn in different directions when it looks like you need help. Oh, and did I mention that MY CAR WAS KEYED WHILE I WAS HERE? Was inside for 10 minutes to get a rake and someone dragged their key all the way from front to back. Today I needed to pick up a few things, and had questions I needed answered about most of them. Did I come to the wrong place? Apparently. I need some interior doors, and as they are retrofits, I had questions about services. After a few minutes of walking around the area without seeing anyone, I started playing with one of their computers to get attention through security. Someone came over, I told him it seems like no one is working, and that this was the only way to get attention. He said it wasn't a good way, but he was wrong. Partially. He called a few times to get someone over, but no one came. Eventually I saw two employees in the millwork section (who did not come despite the calls). I asked if they worked at Lowes (they had red vests, but didn't seem to care about customer service). It was about 5PM on a Sunday and they said the person who knows a lot about doors works during the week. Great. So, I needed some hardware for the can of a canlight. I went to lights, hardware, and eventually found someone in tools, but he said to go to plumbing, this person called someone to meet me in lights, but no one came. I considered stealing the hardware off of a can, but instead just bought one. I bought the rest of the crap I needed. I asked the checker if anyone worked in the store besides at the registers, and he said he was frustrated, because corporate mentioned they are not busy enough for more employees. Just buy stuff online. If you need help, go to a real hardware store. You will pay more, but if you need customer service, you won't find it at Lowe's anyway. read more

I have shopped the Renton landing store since it opened and have always been satisfied. Not so with the Rainier store. There are two department workers who are helpful. Both around tools and hardware. Today I was looking for help and information on installing and wiring a bathroom fan. No one in the area around the fans. No one in electrical. A helpful vendor finally found a woman from electrical for me. When asked my question she answered: "I'm sorry sir, I'm not certified to help you with that question." I had to wait at customer service for nearly half an hour before the right person came on duty. He was not overly happy about immediately helping a now irate customer. This is FAR from the first time in either plumbing or electrical that No one knew what they should have. read more

This review is for curbside delivery. It took 24hrs for a in stock product to be "ready" for pick up after ordering online. That wasn't the bad part, I arrived to the store after getting the ready notification via email. It took almost an hour to get my item after checking in and calling 3 times from the parking lot. This is unacceptable during covid-19 and I have a newborn and toddler...I know it is my personal reason not to go inside the store but safety is my priority. I felt like Lowes was prioritizing in-persen encounters and encouraging people to go inside. Beware of long wait if you are doing curbside pick up and intend to not go inside. read more

Considering the fact that we are new homeowners of an 87 year-old house, we now basically live at Lowe's. This gives us a good basis for writing this review, as we have sampled almost every department in our first couple months of homeownership! :) The paint guys (especially the early morning ones) are fantastic. Friendly, fast, and helpful. In other departments, depending on the time of day and the day of the week, we have found very helpful and knowledgeable salespeople and occasionally people who knew less because they were trying to answer for a department that was uncovered. We feel that these salespeople, on average, know more and give better advice than the folks at Home Depot. This is based on several trips to both stores for the same projects. We typically like the selection of products better at Lowe's over Home Depot, even if occasionally they are a bit more expensive (although we have found them pretty comparable). This isn't the biggest Lowe's we've ever been in (the garden selection is pretty bare bones), but it's convenient for us, so we appreciate it. read more

We ordered one 1.5 months in advance of needing it and it simply did not arrive on the delivery date, with no one contacting us before or after that day. We spent countless hours on the phone with the appliances department and they were completely unhelpful and could not help remediate the situation in any way. They lied over the phone many times. I come here a lot, because I live close by and my current project is close. I've been sort of frustrated at the lack of cashiers at this store. Also, some of the staff have VERY VERY bad attitude to the customers, especially the ones who don't know shit. However, I do have a good relationship with the plumbing section, those guys recognize me and teach me a lot of things... very knowledgable. The electrical section's guy usually can't even speak fluent english... so I don't barely get help from him. I do have to say, they treat their sheet goods better than how Home Depot at Lander treats them. Their lumber is still pretty beaten up though. All in all, they need to hire some people who don't have minority entitlement issues... it causes bad attitudes. The 3 stars goes to the plumbing department and no one else. read more

We ordered a new stove and oven from this store to be delivered while a contractor was working on our house (Lowe's won't install gas). The day it was supposed to arrive, we never got a call. We called Lowe's and apparently the order had been cancelled by another store and they were out of the stove! The only one they could get had to be shipped from DC and would take weeks to arrive. They gave us $100 off and ordered the stove. We asked for the stove to be delivered over the weekend but of course it didn't arrive on the scheduled day. We called and they offered another 10% off and delivery the next day. We still haven't seen the stove or the 10% off. read more

I bought the biggest Weber grill they sell recently and I have to say I am super impressed with these guys. Not only did they match Amazon's price for the grill on the spot, but they stuck to 'free delivery' even though it took a fork lift and two crews to get this bad-boy up onto my garage and then over the wall to my deck. Try getting Amazon to do that!! They could easily have said, 'Sorry, this is outside the scope of standard delivery' or tried to charge me more. Not only did they NOT do that but they came out in advance to survey my house and figure out how to get it exactly where I wanted it and problem solved their way through a pretty damn tricky delivery. I bought a Craftsman Drill here in August 2020, I used it for a project and then didn't need it again until February 2021. I tried to charge the battery and charger didn't light up that it was charging and never charged the battery after leaving it plugged in for a whole day. I went to the store to ask for a replacement battery charger, broken charger in hand. They said I had to contact the manufacturer, fine. I asked for them to look up my receipt, they said they couldn't because it was more than 6 months back, barely. They suggested I call the Sales line to get it. Waited on hold with sales line 40 minutes to be referred to Customer Care line where I waited 30+ minutes to be told to call Repairs Department the next day. Called the repairs department and they said they couldn't find my transaction, I provided them with the date, time, amount total, my card number, my name, and the product purchased and they said there was absolutely no way to look up my receipt without an invoice number that I needed to get from my bank. I attempted to give the number I saw on my credit card statement--they said that wouldn't be it. Bank says that's the only number that they have that corresponds with my purchase. I honestly feel like I'm in the twilight zone and people are messing with me on purpose. When I worked at a hardware store 10 years ago I could look up all the transactions made with a certain credit card in a minute, HOW and WHY would Lowe's chose to put roadblocks to how transactions can be looked up? I just need a copy of my receipt and I've spent several hours over several days. I am amazed by how poor the customer service is and how no one who works there knows what the hell is going on. I will never shop at a Lowe's again for my lumber and projects. read more

I don't know what people are complaining about. Everyone at the store were helpful especially the saturday after thanksgiving. They directed me to the various places in the store for items I was looking for as well as offering to walk me there. The only thing I really didn't like was the layout of the store, which was kind of confusing but other than that, much preferred over going to the Home Depot. read more

I will not do business with Lowes ever again. I would rather pay more and go to Home Depot or any other hardware store. I ordered things to be delivered one week before and it was confirmed with date and time frame. The day before of the supposed delivery, I got a call saying it will be delayed for the next day. Then I got another call saying it will be delivered on a different time frame than what I've requested. On the supposed delivery day, I got a call from the Rainier store during delivery time frame saying that they don't have the items I've ordered. They couldn't have called me early in the morning to inform me of this, but the last minute when I scheduled people to do the work? This is not the first time Lowes messed up on my orders. I've been a loyal customer for many years, but no more. Another thing to note, their appliance cancellation policy is the worst. Think twice before you buy or order anything from them. The most poorly managed Lowe's I have ever shopped at. So many parts and refill bins are empty that I am frequently forced to drive to HD at Sodo, which is 3x the distance. Lowes Rainier also offers few of the smaller sized painting supplies, e.g., forcing a wasteful purchase of large-tube caulking, or a complete roller set because they are STILL out of stock for the mid-sized refill I and many others use. Some staff are helpful, but others woefully ignorant about what they stock. Managers must not care to visit and inspect the floor. read more

District and Local management is obviously not present or is turning a blind eye to this location. It appears as though they are bulldozing their trash into piles in the corners of their parking lot. Ordered from Lowes.com for truck delivery and it was routed to this location. It's been a nightmare. Original delivery date was 17 days out. Then they pushed it week. I had to lookup the new date online as I got no communications on the new date. A couple days later it had no delivery date online. I called up they said it would be a day earlier. Nope. The next day it got pushed out another 4 days. Getting a hold of them was a nightmare. Pro-tip: when delivery goes to busy signal just wait and it will go back to the root menu and you can press 3,3 again to ring them again. They picked up on my 9th try. Now I'm heading down to pick up my order in person and insist on a refund of my delivery fee. Never again will I go for Lowes.com truck delivery. read more
