Great place for seafood. Much better than I was expecting. Huge menu. Food was good. The big platter was .... Very big. The coconut shrimp was pretty good. Scallops was cook just right. We would do this agin. Had a fun time eating and sharing with friends. The was very friendly

The crabs must be delicious, but I had the award-winning fried chicken which didn't disappoint! Onion rings were yummy with just the right amount of batter, and the broccoli slaw was refreshing. My sister has the fried clam strips which she liked. On a rainy Thursday night it was a full house in the indoor section around back (go left, then left after placing your order at the register area). Can't wait to come back for outdoor seating when the weather perks up!

Lowry's won Best Fried Chicken in the Best of Loudoun contest. Here is why: moist, juicy, tasty and perfectly breaded. Amazing. I had to get the crabs again! Wonderful as usual!

This is a fun place with outside seating. Some parking. Super fast service and helpful. The fry was not at all greasy - even light and crispy. Everything was fresh and not fishy smelling. Be aware that some old pictures of combos are no longer available.

We ate at Lowrey's Crab Shack on 4/14/2014. Wife had pealed and deveined shrimp with corn fritters, hush puppies, and a side salad. Shrimp were nicely seasoned. Hush puppies were delicious. Corn fritters were excellent. I had the 3 piece fried chicken with potato salad and corn fritters. I had a leg, breast and thigh. The chicken was moist, very crispy. Best fried chicken I've ever had. The corn fritters were delicious. The potatoe salad was very tasty, maybe needed a little salt. My only real negative comment is that the corn fritters don't come with a sauce. They are dusted with powder sugar. Personally, I would like a remulaude sauce on the side of the corn fritters. I was surprised that they don't make one for the PO-Boys they serve. Nonetheless, a great meal.

If you really need crabs this place is okay. Service and staff were friendly and attentive but sadly to my crabby palette the crabs were not the best. Perhaps it's timing as this New Yorker has no clue to when the best of the best are flowing. These crabs were on the dry, maybe overcooked side? Not sure. Just not plump and overflowing with flavor. Sides were god though and if you are twitching for a crab fix, this place will do in a nice bucolic setting.

Stop for dinner with friends at the small country seafood restaurant and because of the virus it's only outside seating In my opinion everything was extremely fresh and well presented and cooked just right my friends had the crab legs shrimp oysters clams It was an extremely nice atmosphere dining experience just perfect day everything looked good but I went with the coconut shrimp coleslaw and mac and cheese The mac and cheese was superb I will definitely put this on my list to return The staff was very helpful and when they forgot to bring something out to the table they immediately returned with it I'm sure you'll enjoy your dining experience

Great seafood fix if you need one but mostly fried and the oil always seems old. Steamed crab legs are available but limited selection.

I've eaten crab cakes all over including several famous MD crab cakes and I work at a fresh seafood market where we make our own crab cakes. So when I say I know my crab cakes.... I know my crab cakes. Talk of the mountain: this is a super cute and friendly small restaurant located on Main Street. It is very local friendly and the kind of place the staff/owners would know your name and your regular order. I LOVE that. The staff are warm and inviting. You can watch them breading your food and chat with them as you eat. I loved watching. We got the crab cake with fried oysters and shrimp plate with Mac n cheese and fries and hush puppies and another fried shrimp plate with their slaw. It was pretty pricey but we expected that when buying quality seafood. The fried shrimp were absolutely incredible as were the fried oysters (minus the pearl my son found in the one he ate... but again not too much of a surprise). The taste was great, the cook time was perfect, they were delicious! The fries were seasoned and tasty as were the hush puppies (nothing to scream about but definitely good!) the slaw was good (according to my son... I'm not a slaw person). The Mac n cheese was definitely different but not exactly mind blowing. I felt indifferent I didn't love it and feel like I needed it tomorrow, but it wasn't bad. I honestly didn't have an opinion either way on it but I did eat it. The crab cake. The good: this was literally packed with crab meat. Obviously we seek out places that Jam Pack their crab cakes with actual pieces of quality lump crab. Talk of the Mountain certainly does this.... In my opinion to the extreme. When they say zero fillers, they MEAN IT. So does zero fillers make a good crab cake? In my opinion not this way. It was not my cup of tea and I love crab and crab cakes (obviously). It seemed like their formula for the binder was a mustard based concoction and then it was solid crab. The flavor left a lot to be desired and it didn't feel like eating crab cake because there was no filler at all. Making crab cakes is such a delicate balance, a true art in my opinion and while TOTM most definitely is serious about ensuring you taste the crab in their "cakes" the end result was more of a pile of lump crab with a sauce. All that being said I would absolutely eat there again. They were fabulous and I truly applaud their style. This is just my personal perspective from the one visit. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area! Rating: my knee jerk is to give this a 4 because I really am not a fan of the Crabcake and would not order it again, however everything else and the people were 10 stars so I feel like a 5 star rating is deserved. If they ever modified their recipe I would try it again happily AND will def eat there again. The shrimp and oyster was phenomenal.

Besides the crab cakes, we also liked the shrimp. The fish and the wings were just fine, but nothing exceptionally special in our opinion. Don't skip out on the hush puppies! Our first visit last summer we came at 5pm and thought we'd be fine getting a table for 3- it was the very last one. I guess depending on the day and time it can get packed!! The crab cake is not full of breading and filler like a lot of crab cakes, so I was happy with that. I got the "Goliath" crab cake platter, which came with hush puppies and a side, and I paid the extra $2.50 for the seafood salad. The hush puppies were cooked perfectly and were pretty tasty, a little sweet like I prefer them, and also pretty filling. I was a bit disappointed in the seafood salad since the dressing that is used overpowers the taste of the imitation crab, which is what I wanted to taste. I love the sweetness of the crab, but didn't taste it at all. Overall, I was happy with my food but I can't say I will eat here very often as my meal was $42 without including the tip, and for one person and a meal that barely filled a to go box it's a bit much. However, if I crave a crab cake sandwich, I will stop in again and try that.

My sandwich was perfectly seasoned and prepared in authentic Maryland style. The bun with lettuce and tomato fresh were and tasty, too. The sandwich was perfection. The service was efficient. The clerk didn't waste time with pleasantries. The food takes awhile to prepare. I waited about 15 minutes after I ordered as they fresh bake the crab cakes. A tip jar sits by the cash register. The place is cute inside decorated in a harbor/seafood theme. There are 5 tables inside and 2 counters that seat 4 people each. It's the kind of place that you'd meet a friend for lunch and a beer and hang out. There are a couple of Adirondack chairs out front. A tv monitor was playing basketball reruns. The crab cakes can be purchased unbaked to go (along with a host of other seafood). There is a small full bar and coke products. They also serve ice cream, which is what many of the families were stopping for on this hot summer day. I will make JB's a regular stop on my way through Maryland. Well worth a visit.
