The pricing currently on all brands of trucks are a bit outrageous but, I bought one in the limited trim (mid-level) that had all the options I was looking for. The "out the door price" was a bit under than what I expected and I qualified for 1.9% financing. In today's economy that's a score. I was able to purchase the bed cover, step rails and tailgate inserts and all were installed by the dealership for free. The bed cover alone is a thousand dollar install. So that translated to more savings. The salesperson I dealt with as well as the business manager were professional and courteous. I inquired here because the Toyota dealerships near me in North Carolina had much smaller inventory and would not negotiate on pricing. What was on the window sticker was the price I was told. It was worth the two hour drive up and back on two separate days to purchase a vehicle I was looking for.

The salesperson said he would prepare the quote and send it to my email address. A couple of hours passed, and I had no email. I texted the salesperson, giving him my email address once again, to see if there was a problem with the address. He texted me back, said he got busy with "guests", and would send the quote over very soon. Still . . . no quote. I texted the salesperson once again (I was ready to purchase this car). Here is the text he sent to me verbatim: "Yes, I'm sorry. I have not sent it yet. Because of the market on the hybrid management would like to keep our hybrids in the local area. Is there anyway to register the vehicle here in Virginia and not North Carolina." I was pretty shocked by his text. We had already talked about registering the car in North Carolina. He said they do it "all the time." Now they want to keep the car in Virginia because it's a hybrid? What? He suggests titling and registering the car in VA when this is not my legal residence? How do I get insurance on a car licensed in VA when it will be housed in North Carolina? He told me he would talk with his General Manager and get back to me today, 14 July. It's 4:59 p.m. He never called. Sheehy Lexus of Richmond is off my list of possible dealerships.

After dropping off my vehicle, I received a call from the service advisor the next day. He told me the recall-related system update had been completed and that the SOS error was resolved as a result of the update--implying that no further work was needed. Great, or so I thought. When I picked up my vehicle, I was shocked to see a $250 charge on my bill for an "SOS system diagnostic." I questioned this, especially since the advisor had explicitly told me over the phone that the issue had been resolved by the recall update. His story changed immediately. He now claimed they did the diagnostic before performing the update--something he absolutely did not mention on the phone. Then he backtracked again, saying they had to be cautious and do the diagnostic first in case the update caused further issues. That's not only contradictory--it makes no sense. I told him again: the update fixed the issue, you said no additional action was needed, and I was never told about any charge. His final excuse? "Well, the tech has to be paid for his time." That's not how recall work operates. By federal law, recall repairs must be provided free of charge on cars up to 15 years old. My car is only 8. I was never informed there would be a charge, never given a chance to approve or decline it, and the issue resolved itself with the recall update. Charging $250 for something that didn't need diagnosing--after telling me it was already fixed--is dishonest and unacceptable. This experience was incredibly disappointing. The lack of transparency and shifting explanations from the service advisor made it clear that customer trust and fair pricing are not priorities here. I expected better from Jaguar. Very important to fix... but I felt bad bringing it in for something so small, so I asked them to change the spark plugs at the same time so they could make a few bucks. $500 to change the spark plugs. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with the horn and charged me to replace the horns with new OEMs. Still didn't work, so they gave up. WHAT?!? They mentioned "because your car is more than 10 years old, we can't warrantee any of the work we do". WTF?!? So a place that's supposed to be filled with Range Rover experts doesn't have any Range Rover experts on site? Story gets worse. They called me and said they spotted a coolant leak. Mind you, I saw ZERO evidence of a coolant leak where we park. Never a single leak in years. But, I paid them $1500 anyway to change a coolant line (highway robbery) as a precaution. A few days later, my 16-yo daughter got stranded due to overheating! In essence, I paid Land Rover $1500 to give me a dangerous problem I didn't already have. I never should have let these ppl touch my car. I got the repairs needed elsewhere at a reputable shop with real mechanics and had to laugh at how unskilled the mechanics at Land Rover must be these days. What a shame. In my experience, Land Rover Richmond is filled with "worky tickets" who pad your bill with unnecessary work while causing problems you didn't have so they can maximize profit. Guess it doesn't matter to Land Rover Richmond if they endanger their drivers. Shame on them.

The salesmen were friendly to just have random car conversations to help kill time and one of them directed me to a local dine in theater that was a few minutes walking distance away.
