To say my experience was awful at Luba's Tailoring is an understatement. I have never been so disrespected and talked down to in any customer service experience I have ever had in my life. On top of this, the alterations, which were done by Eteri, on the bust of my wedding dress were sloppy and asymmetrical. I paid $500, and now my wedding dress needs to be fixed. When I approached Eteri about my issues with her alterations she said that she did not touch the symmetry of my dress. Alterations that were done to the back of the dress were also sloppy and uneven. The bust of my dress was not uneven when I brought it to her for altering (it had not been altered prior to that). The unaltered dress had a crumb catcher, and I wanted that made into a simple sweetheart neckline. The initial agreement was that I pay $1,000 in full for the entire alteration job. I did pay this amount. Because I had such an awful experience, I stopped alterations and I did get a $500 refund. But I think that after what was done to my dress, a full refund was more than fair. My dress is lop sided as a result. Why would I pay someone $500 to do that? And they didn't even offer to fix it. Like I said, Eteri completely denied that she even had anything to do with it. Like these things on my dress appeared out of thin air and had nothing to do with the work that was done. Before this, she canceled one of my fittings two hours before I was scheduled to arrive. When I expressed my disappointment, especially since my mother was in town and wanted to come with me to the fitting, she said next time I have a fitting with her I need to call in advance and see if she needs to cancel. She told me she is busy with Awards season, which I understand and was very considerate of, but that doesn't mean that my fittings should be canceled last minute and that my appointments don't matter. I felt like since I had already paid in full, which was my stupid mistake, there was no incentive to do a good job or make me a priority. When that fitting was rescheduled and I was at the fitting wearing the dress at Luba's, I asked her if she was going to fix the crease that was appearing in the stomach area of the dress. (To be clear, this crease was there prior to the alterations, but she assured me that she could fix it in our first meeting). When I brought it up at the fitting, she got very defensive and said that she couldn't help the way the dress is. She also said that I had "got bigger" and that if I lost weight the dress would fall. She offered to let the dress out (maybe I did gain a few pounds over the holidays, however, that is no way to speak to someone), but the dress fit, it could be zipped up and a few pounds on my nearly six foot frame would not cause the dress to be ill-fitting. (By the way, I probably weigh about 150 pounds. My weight was not the issue). But she made me feel that any problem with the dress had to do with my weight or the dress itself. I could honestly go on and on about how bad and stressful my experience was. This review doesn't even go into other things that occurred and issues that I had (particularly how i was talked to and treated). I was also accused of being verbally abusive (I have proof of this in email), which is certainly not the case. If anything, I was the one verbally abused through this process. I personally never yelled at anyone. I have tried to handle this whole situation with as much class and respect as possible after being nastily told to "be quiet" and "not interrupt." I was also laughed at, rushed off the phone and told that I would get a call back after expressing my complaints over the phone. I never got a call back when I was told I would get a call back. I had to call several times to get a hold of Eteri, and this is someone who I paid and trusted with my wedding dress. My fiance heard the way I was being talked to during one conversation (this was via phone) and he interrupted and raised his voice. Maybe he was wrong to yell, but he was very upset after everything I had gone through and the way I was being treated. And he barely had a chance to yell, because we were hung up on. I feel so taken advantage of. Again, I paid $500 and now I have a sloppy looking wedding dress I have to take elsewhere to get fixed. Another issue I should briefly mention is that since we stopped alterations midway, the several buttons (little white pearl-like buttons that went down the back) that were on my dress were removed and not sewn back on. Perfectly fair, since I am the one who asked that the alterations stop. But when I picked up my dress, the buttons (which were placed in a ziplock bag, nothing wrong with that) were dirty. The buttons looked like they had been collecting dust and dirt. I would not want any bride to go through what I have had to go through. It is way out of my comfort zone to publicly share so much negativity, but this was all just so wrong and like I said I would not want anyone else to deal with this. read more
