Had a great Saturday morning at Lubbies. We got there around 9am- it wasn't too crowded but they did have tons of to-go orders but overall we didn't have to wait too long. The bagels itself were really good! I got the breakfast bagel sandwich with sausage on blueberry bagel and my friend got the mishigas and she enjoyed it. This is a cute little bagel shop in the location where a seafood restaurant, 20 feet under, existed for many years before closing due to the COVID pandemic. It is hard to miss so you almost need to looking for it, which is why I did not notice it until now. It is next to Goodfriend Beer Garden. It shares a parking lot with the Beer Garden which means that it has the same parking shortages. I stopped here for some bagels to go. I ordered two onion bagels and the price was $6.50. That is a bit high and much more than Shugs. But Lubbies is closer to my house so it is convenient. The bagel was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. In other words, it was a good bagel. Was it the best I ever had? No, that is reserved for NYC. But it was a good bagel and I enjoyed it. The store offers about a dozen different types of bagels and I saw about 4 spreads, although I was not looking closely so there may be more. There is some inside and outside seating. The inside is cute and homey. The restaurant also offers a variety of bagel sandwiches but I did not try any of those, maybe in the future. read more

Cute bagel shop nestled in Lakewood near White Rock Lake! The decor and ambiance is bright and airy. Lubbies offers cold/hot deli type sandwiches, bagels, and array of schmears, coffee and other things. I opted for a sesame bagel lightly toasted (which came with bagel and white seeds) with the scallion scream cheese. My bagel tasted fermented in a good way as though these were sourdough based bagels. Not sure how true that might be. The scallion cream cheese is not as strong as I''m accustomed to. I stopped in around 9:30 on a Saturday - there were a couple of people in line ahead of me, but I was able to place and get my order within 15 mins (including a specialty sandwich). I got the chicken caprese sandwich on pumpernickel and the cherry chocolate bagel w/ a plain schmear - both were AMAZING! The chew on the pumpernickel was perfect, the tomato jam is out of this world, and the entire sandwich is wonderfully balanced. This shop did an amazing job with a sweet bagel since I find some other shops' attempts at a chocolate chip bagel are very dry, but this one was great and the addition of pieces of cherry was... well, the cherry on top :) The shop is very cute and has some seating options, but the joint was jumping and some people found other seating nearby. Cute ambiance and friendly staff and the food was pretty good. My husband did not like his vanilla latte and my chai latte was very pretty but a bit underwhelming as it was served lukewarm. My Chicken Caprese sandwich that I got on a Parmesan bagel was pretty good. The bagel itself was delicious but the tomato jam and pesto made the entire sandwich super soggy but the flavor was still really good. My husband got the Lub Handles sandwich and he said it was just alright. He asked for no pickles and they still put them on so he had to pick them off. Love this place. Friendly, good quality, efficient, and reasonable prices. Bagels are great. My notes for the business - I feel like specifications and additions are not done well, specifically the toppings. Every time we get bagels toasted, even triple toasted, they are barely toasted at all. This happens every single time, without fail. The serving of cream cheese on each bagel could be more for the price. Also, when I get extra toppings, like breakfast sausage, I feel like there is even less cream cheese. In general, any toppings I pay to be added do not seem to be plentiful. (Sorry for the complaints - I just really love this business and want to see it succeed!) read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Lub me some Lubbie's! We were having lunch at Hello Dumpling next door and my friend said we can't leave without getting some bagels at Lubbie's. They're her favorite bagels and I'm not about to argue with a local. Plus, I do love good bagels, even if I don't eat them very much anymore (damn middle age!). But hey, I was on vacation, so I got a half dozen for $15: egg, salt, onion, garlic, everything, and Parmesan. I also got their salmon and veggie cream cheeses. I loved that they don't use plastic containers! The staff was friendly and patient, and the bagels were indeed delicious, with the right chew and heft. The cream cheeses were a delightful accompaniment, and I'm a fan! I haven't eaten this many bagels since the 90s, and it's been worth the carb attack! Top notch, unique East Dallas spot worth the drive. Beautiful space, friendly, attentive staff, and delicious bagels and coffee. We live close by and we increasingly prefer going here over nearby spots (e.g. Cultivar / Good Friend) for breakfast. Ambience: Gorgeously designed, impeccably clean and bright dining space, albeit small. I love when restaurants take pride in their bathrooms too, which Lubbies does. There are about 5-6 small tables and a bar. There's outdoor seating outside as well, though it's a little breezy and loud with Garland Rd nearby. Staff: Super friendly and attentive staff who - as someone else pointed out - clearly take pride in what they do. Food and drink: This is no Einstein Bro's Bagels. These bagels are unique and flavorful and reasonably priced (~$5 each with crème cheese). Their sausage is amazing too. They serve Counter Culture coffee which I really like. We always have drip coffee and haven't tried their espresso-based drinks yet. We love Cultivar coffee but the Good Friend Industrial "we don't care" vibe doesn't always feel like a place for families with small children. Lubbies is our new local go-to breakfast spot. Comment for management: would love to be able to purchase online ahead of time since sometimes morning lines are long! Also, while on the topic, curbside pickup would be a game changer for parents as well too. read more

I love whitefish salad but most of the plans in town use the Acme tub that you can get at Costco. I've been wanting to find a real one in town with chunks of fish like you get at Kenny and Ziggys in Houston. This place has a lot of potential. With no good competitors in the area, Lubbies fills a perfect niche. The bagels are boiled and thus have a nice crispy exterior and soft interior. It just opened so there are definitely some logistics that need to be improved and eventually the crowds will subside but definitely a good option for the area. There are a handful of tables to sit at, a counter and a handful of outdoor tables. Not a ton of seating options but again, when crowds subside a bit, I'm sure it will be more accommodating. read more

I have been twice and have really enjoyed both experiences. The line can be long, but it moves quickly. The bagels are vegan and they have vegan cream cheese! Amazing!!! My first trip I got the sun dried tomato with the vegan cream cheese- delightful and delicious! Then today I got the salt bagel with vegan cream cheese it was so good and helped fuel my run! The coffee selection is good- although I've only gotten their brewed coffee not a specialty drink. If I had one thing to say would be if they could manage the line so that the seating inside isn't overtaken by those waiting to order, but like I said WORTH IT! read more

A very warm and friendly environment with great customer service. I've been trying to find the best bagel spot in Dallas and this was recommended. Definitely a quality bagel but the pricing is a bit up there. The vegan sausage was an extra 4$ on top of the breakfast sandwich price. I ended up spending 22$ after getting a breakfast sandwhich and a small side of cream cheese and a cup of orange juice. If I was in the area I'd most likely stop by again for something more basic but I don't see myself driving out of my way for it. read more

YUM! I love bagels and when I saw a new shop was open near me, I had to try it out. I got a garlic bagel with jalepeno schmear. Super good! The jalepeno had a nice kick of spice. Ok. Just walked in to buy bagels. The person at the counter proceeded to continue their personal conversation. Ok 30 seconds would be fine. Going on over 3 minutes without acknowledging the customer? I realize they only reopened recently but wanted to give it a try based on reviews and press coverage. I rate Lubbies a low 4 . Here's my breakdown: Appearance/Decor Pros: Very clean, bright and nicely decorated. The choice of colors and patterns is a nice break for the typical stark interiors with exposed ceilings and dark, natural furnishings. It was also very clean. Thank you for keeping the terrazzo fllors! Cons: Menu boards were empty. Only one paper 81/2 x 11 menu to pass between waiting patrons. BTW, no online menu. The menu dedicates a lot of space to sandwiches which seems odd since I expect a bagel shop to be primarily breakfast and brunch. Very limited choice of grab and go beverages. Service Service is very friendly and accommodating almost to a fault. The couple in front of me accepted and indulged in trying several creme cheese samples. That's nice, and unique, but you lost focus on the growing line behind the couple you were serving. Who needs a sample of a creme cheese anyway? The person prepping orders to go was also very nice. Food I applaud Lubbies for offering a pumpernickel bagel. It had a nice chew. Woudl have been nice if toasted as requested. This bagel was ordered with fig, honey and walnut spread. Not digging this. It was not well mixed with some bites being really sweet and others having too much fig which felt gritty. I cannot recommend the fig, honey and walnut. Second bagel was an everything with chive spread. The bagel had a nice chew and flavor but some of the onion topping was burnt. It was toasted perfectly and the chive spread had a good, but not overpowering onion flavor. They still need some work on the operations. 1. Have 2 people take orders when there is a line of people waiting. Use technology to your advantage. 2. The bagel wrapping with the order ticket and extra tape seem nice, but really slows down the process and is wasteful. She was very nice and obviously take pride in here work though. 3. Menus, menus, menus. Please more paper menus if not using the menu boards. 4. You explain a lot to customers about your hand-crafted product. Put it on the menu for people to read. Take credit for it and share the uniqueness. 5. Appears to be a lot of space in the back kitchen and a lot happening up front with toasting, spreading and coffee. Very crowded and 5 people seem to be working against each other. I think Lubbies is a nice neighborhood place, but still needs some adjustments to improve the flow and develop a positive experience. read more
