Went there hoping to give my totally veggie beau a good chance to get a bunch of yummy sides. However, they don't have the ingredients listed on their items so the following veggies definitively have bacon in them: cabbage and green beans. Both of which he ordered. I ended up having to give him more of my sides that didn't have meat in them. Considering how many people are veggie or have food allergies now, it would help to put a notation on which items might have meat or a well known allergen. Other than that, it is a good place to get a solid veggie platter. I've always liked their mac and cheese, fruit salad, pasta salad, sweet potatoes, and jalapeno cornbread in particular since I was a kid. In recent years, many of the locations have gotten a face lift too which is nice. read more

Ordered the trimmings for Thanksgiving dinner from Luby's. I did this online and Luby's asked me to select a pickup time. What a joke. 10am there was a line out the front door. I stood in line for over an hour to pick up my little box of things. The employees were all moving slow really slow. We had been given a claim number and apparently they were in not in order. The employees were running around looking for that particular number. Very unorganized. The boxes had to be opened to be sure the right items were included. Many examples of things missing in the preordered boxes. After about 45 minutes there appeared a middle aged lady that kicked butt, suddenly everyone started moving fast. I don't know who she was but she was good. Even did it with a smile. The trimmings were ok, maybe two star. I will not do that ever again. read more

Thought we would try this place one more time but I can see why they have lost so much business. Food is awful! Taste 6 days old and NASTY! It used to be one of the best Lubys in Houston, but then a new manager named Jake showed up and the food went straight downhill whenever he was there. The Angus Chopped Steak I had last was completely raw and cold on the inside, and when I took it back it came back looking like it had been microwaved, still not even browned on the outside. My mashed potatoes had large lumps of skins, nothing had any salt on it. It was all completely tasteless, and the prices have gone up as much as the quality and taste has gone down. It has gotten increasingly poorer quality as the prices have gone up. I won't be going back! read more

I had a horrible experience today. I came to get some food and when I walked in nobody greeted me. Me and another guest waited 7 mins before anyone took our order. Finally we were able to order and the item I asked about was taken so they told me it would be another ten min wait. I asked them is there just cheese in the cheese enchiladas and was told it's just cheese I get home and find out there is meat in my food. As a vegetarian I felt like I was poisoned when I realized it was meat In my food. I called the store and requested my money back I was told I had to bring the food back so this time I had to drive in traffic to return the food I told the manager that I should be compensated for the bad customer service, being lied to about meat being in the food and the horrible treatment from the manager named Magnus who walked away . I spoke in a calm low tone and asked what they would do for the inconvenience and he walked away Do not spend your money here Magnus is a terrible manager and the place has gone to HE.LL under his management. Went for breakfast, options were truly disappointing. No fruit, no veggies. Did not have creamer or paper napkins. I would not return.

It's good food but ,as usual ,parking lot is a dash for your car and disturbances find their way inside even on Sunday morning. Same old story, reflect the "people" who have infested the surrounding apartments and brought their drama and criminal acts. Security patrol useless , stop looking at your cell phone and be aware of your surroundings. Been going here for forty years. read more

Went there for breakfast today. Buffet was completely out of food, so had to stand there and wait for them to cook everything. Server behind the counter couldn't seem to hear nor understand what I was asking for, so got it all wrong each time. Forgot the syrup for the pancakes, so had to walk all the way back, cause there was only one waitress working the other side of the dining room (rest seemed to be on perpetual break). They've now swapped out the orange juice for some nasty artificial colored water, so that's a real cherry on top. Food was already over-salted before I got it. Overall, pretty miserable - used to be an ok place for a quick breakfast, but I won't be going back. read more

I've always been a fan of Luby's and recently decided it sounded good for dinner! This review is ONLY for the to go section of the place! The service was great! My only complaint is it took a bit longer than expected for them to get the food. It's Luby's so I'm pretty sure everything is pre-made. One thing I did like is they show you the food prior to bagging it. This way you can make sure your order is correct...They did this with me, but I wasn't paying attention and they gave me a wrong side. Apparently Luby's mac & cheese is great....mashed potatoes (which were the mistake) are not! read more

At first I was excited to come eat at Luby's. It had been years since I had eaten here. I had went with my family for dinner. I got the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, some jello and a chocolate cake with a coke. Everything was going well until I saw a black spot on my chicken steak. I picked it out, and it was a small cockroach. I was so disgusted! I told the server and she got the manager. He said he was sorry and didnt know how it could be possible if inspection this and that. He refunded me all my money which was almost $200 since I had invited my family members. It didn't really matter because seriously a roach on my food?? I will NEVER be back here. read more

Like others have said, you really get what you pay for here, and then some. Portion sizes are perfect, and the food is hot and tasty. Staff have always been friendly and helpful. My only beef that keeps it from getting five stars is that the tables and booths aren't always as clean as I'd like, which (for me) can somewhat spoil the experience. read more

We have been coming here for years for their weekend breakfast buffet. I was shocked to find out that they have gotten rid of the buffet and instead now do a full service breakfast. It's a lot more expensive than the buffet and thus no longer worth it. Now to find a new weekend breakfast place. read more

I went there 3/1816 and bought a corn bread muffin and vegetables The corn bread was extremely dry outside and inside was not done. I left it on the table it was not worth the hassle to change it because they all looked the same way. I will not waste my time to go back there. Delicious food! I visited this place 3 times a week while pregnant. I craved the macaroni n cheese. The Manager Brad is so friendly and helpful. He has thanked me many times for coming back and he really knows what great customer service is about! They have great servers too! Ginger is my favorite! This place disgusted me. My wife and I tried to enjoy this place but the food was just not good. Everything was over-salted to hide the fact it was terrible quality. The dessert - chocolate creme pie tasted like petroleum jelly smells.The chicken Monaco was processed cheese spread on mushy chicken. The fried okra and fries tasted like a salt shaker and the cabbage like a rubber tire. The jalapeño cornbread was drier than a desert. The restaurant was clean and the workers very nice but the manager was not. I was told he liked to argue and his reasoning skills were on a kindergarten level. Luby's may have been good at one time but it was not today. Had some people tell me how great it is yet I believe they most likely have never had food that tastes good without having to resort to coloring, additives, sugar, and salt. If you want real food go elsewhere. If you are addicted to non-food and want to feel sluggish the next day then this place is your best friend. read more

Growing up as a child in Houston, my family frequented the Luby/Romano cafeteria at Town & Country in the late '70s. There was a skateboard park across the street! The food and service was amazing, along with free rolls being carted to each table along with water/soda refills. Nice to know that after all these years, this place still knows how to deliver (save for the free rolls! ;-) ) My liver and onions were very good, liver very tender. My hubby's chicken fried chicken was very tender and juicy as well. Sides were good, fresh collards were obviously freshly cooked and not soggy, salads and veggie toppings were very fresh indeed; the mashed potatoes could use a bit of work as they got cold/dry very quickly (boxed, pre-cooked/refrigerated as opposed to freshly mashed?). All that being said, the thing which topped it off was the service. All the line workers were apt and knowledgeable. I read here that Ginger was a good server, and she wound up being ours... so sweet and helpful! Her conversation was awesome, and it made our lunch complete! Everytime I go, something is wrong with my food. This time the food made me sick, but they need to complete an investigation before they will reimburse me my $17. So I guess if only I get sick, I must be faking it huh? I'll say this, I may never be back! read more
