I was visiting my children in NH and traveling with 2 chi's. I had read this place was great with animals and even gave them water bowls. I made reservations to eat outside. We arrived early and our table was being prepared at that moment. Things looked promising. The menu looked amazing but 2 of our group were youngsters and found nothing to their taste on the menu. The service was lacking. We actually had 2 waiters which I thought meant one was in training although they were both so bad we couldn't tell which one was new. Our drinks were never refilled nor were we asked if we needed refills. We had to go ask for our bill. Then when she brought it, we had to go find her again to turn in our credit card. No water bowls for dogs but at least they were permitted on the outside patio. We would not eat there again. read more

Perfect experience! Absolutely wonderful food and service, although I must admit, it's out of our price range for dining out on a regular basis! You get what you pay for, and I feel we paid for an amazing service, and I don't think we paid too much for what we got by any means.....It's our modest spending habits that won't allow us to eat there regularly. Last night my fiancé and I decided to go out for a relaxing dinner. We chose Lucas because he had recently taken his daughter out for her birthday for dinner there and they had a great meal. The owner came out from the kitchen and came to their table and talked to them. Now being a Friday night I would not have expected that personal of treatment, but a little attention would have been nice. We were met at the door by the hostess, taken to a table told our waitress would be over . I came to Keene 3 years ago in search of good pasta. Lucas's has the most delicious tomato vodka sauce around. My first time going there we had an amazing experience, yet more recently the staff seem rather uneager to please and the quality seemed to go down slightly as well for what you pay. Worst dining experience in Keene ever. For lunch, ordered a wrap off of menu and some prepared food from counter. No warmth from order taker. 20 minutes later discovered they forgot to put order in despite having paid. Took another 10 minutes for them to figure out how to refund money. And, they didn't refund tip. As they went to take money out of tip jar, we simply walked out. Manager was standing nearby and did not take time to find out what was going on. I wish I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars. Hands down the lost accommodating, friendly, professional, delicious and welcoming restaurant in the Keene area. Went to grab dinner and drinks with my best friend after we checked a different restaurant after a very stern question of if we "had reservations" as we replied no they told us it'd be atleast an hour wait. We went to Luca's expecting a similar outcome when in return Luca was so accommodating and flexible as we sat down right away I expected average service as they were so busy, but staff and Luca were so kind and checked every table several times to make sure everyone was happy. The drinks and food were out of this world!!! Due to covid 19 restrictions on restaurants you would never know that was a limit other than eating outside. Luca obviously runs an amazing restaurant. Had a most tasty lunch with friends. Food was fresh, beautifully displayed and served at all the right temps. My one little suggestion (seems to small to be a "complaint") is that the soup should be served with crusty bread or even crackers. My fingers kept reaching for something to enjoy the soup with. The decor is just the right balance of designer and dress-down, and the wait staff did an excellent job of serving the food efficiently, stepping back to let you enjoy, and then bringing the checks at just the right time. read more

This was our first visit to Luca's. For a small place, definitely make reservations if you are going on a weekend night. We ordered Panzanella di Mozzarella E Foccaci for an appetizer which was very fresh and light mozzaerlla cheese, and greens, with a delicious balsamic dressing. For dinner, the lobster ravioli, the lemon taragon sauce was too tart to go with the lobster. Instead of the lobster being succulent, it was almost gave it a cider taste. I ordered the Grilled Beef Tenderloin Medallions au Poivr and it did NOT disappoint. It was one of the more tasty meat dishes I have ever tasted. The creamy mashed potatoes and asparagus came with the delightful 3 oz. pieces of tenderloin. The tenderloin was perfectly cooked at medium rare, seasoned properly, and you could cut the meat with a butter knife. There was not an ounce of fat on it, and just melts delightfully in your mouth. The wife had food envy and could not stop raving about how good it was -- and it actually was that good. I tend not to order steak type dishes because I am usually a tough critic on it, and I am glad I didn't pass on it. We also ordered the chocolate pyramid for dessert, which is a chocolate sponge cake with chocolate mouse and hazlenut cream inside. A nice way to finish of an evening. Good atmosphere, music, pleasant service. This place is a small gem in the heart of Keene. Give it a chance, you will be glad you did. read more

I found Luca's on Yelp. I travel to Keene for business from time to time and this was my first overnight. Looking for quality local food and Luca's is it. Started with a special shrimp saute dish as an appetizer. Very good, pretty clean on flavors. My entree was the grouper on the menu. I thought this was also good, but would limit some of flavors on the dish. Also, i would shred the carrots, zucchini, squash, etc that is in the dish to make it easier to eat. But overall, no complaints - i though the fish was cooked perfectly. Had a seasonal pumpkin cheese cake for dessert. Couldn't finish it, but was very good. Overall a great place to eat and entertain. Luca works the front of house and helps to serve (at least on a Wed night). Fairly good seating for a weekday night in Keene I am sure. Luca mentioned he could fit up to 30 for a group dinner. One word: Amazing. Hubby and I went here for a belated Valentine's Day and we felt like we had gone back to Italy for our honeymoon. It's good, fresh, simple, fantastic Mediterranean food. Our waitress was very helpful, answering our questions about menu items, wine suggestions, and checking to see if everything was alright. It is pricey, but you feel like you get your money's worth. My wife and I were in Keene, visiting our daughter this past weekend. We asked her to make a reservation at a nice place so we could have dinner together. We walked to the restaurant from campus. We were greeted at the door by Luca. He made us feel right at home. Once seated, our waitress was warm and friendly. We looked through the menu, which was small, but had all of the proteins, veg and sides you could hope for. I chose a tender loin, but after reviewing the chef specials, I went with the filet. My wife chose the trout, also from the chef special and my daughter decided on the three cheese ravioli from the menu. The waitress did not ask how I wanted my steak cooked. I figured, ok, if the chef wanted to cook it his way we'll see. When my plate was presented, my filet was on a bed of three asparagus sticks and a wonderful whipped mashed potato with a tasty demi glaze. They had skillet grilled one side of my steak which gave it a wonderful crunchiness. We all enjoyed our meals and shared with each other. Stopped here for lunch while traveling through Keene. Since we reviewed the menu online, I knew I just had to have the BLT because it sounded so unique. It was spectacular! I would have given Luca's a 5 save a rather serious oversight by our server. At lunch we ordered 2 Bloody Mary cocktails, 1 with gin, 1 a virgin; server returned with drinks, both looked exactly alike down to garnish, I drank about 1/3 of mine before I realized I was buzzed (and I don't drink alcohol much at all) and that I had been given the gin cocktail. The mix was so strong that I could not smell nor taste the alcohol. Thank goodness I am not sober or otherwise unable to consume alcohol, it could have been a very serious issue with some. Since I don't drink simply because I don't like it, it wasn't awful for me (although I was the designated driver), but wow, the server gave a nervous laugh, apologized, and then charged us for both drinks anyway in spite of the fact that the gin lover in the family was cheated out of 1/3 of their drink. Otherwise, service and food were very good, as usual, their food is among the best we've eaten in a 100 mile radius. Too bad the drinks were not marked differently, and too bad the server did not really seem to grasp the magnitude of what might have happened... perhaps they did but I was a little annoyed at still being charged for both drinks. Went to Luca's last Saturday night with a few friends for a small birthday celebration. When I called to make a reservation the woman on the phone asked if we were celebrating anything, which I thought was super nice! We were greeted by Luca who was extremely personable and funny! Our server was knowledgeable and pleasant! I have a few eating restrictions and my order was semi-annoying...I can totally admit that. She assured me it was no problem and that the kitchen is willing to make alterations. I got the beef and it was so good!! I loved it and was barely able to share a few bites with my friends. One friend got the salmon and that was delicious! Other friend loved her ravioli. We passed on dessert but they still brought us a plate that had Happy Birthday written in chocolate. My daughter attends Keene State and we have been wanting to stop in and try Lucas. On move in day we stopped in and had a tremendous dining experience. We sat curbside in the center of Keene and the atmosphere was great. The service was prompt, accommodating, and courteous. The owner made several stops over to make sure all our needs were met. A couple of us are gluten intolerant and many times we have trouble finding a good accommodating restaurant. Luca's was not one of those places, they make everything to order and have gluten free pastas. We had everything from delicious Gluten Free Penny A La Vodka with chicken, Linguini with Clam, and my favorite Nonna's Sunday dinner (stuffed rigatoni, Meatballs, Sausage, Braciola, and Garlic bread). This is only made on Sundays. I am 100% Italian and can tell you the sauce was authentic. Our family had a great time dining in the center of Keene at a first class establishment.
