You can either order from the self service screens or at the register. Love the surf and turf taco and burrito here. Tons of wrestling art on the walls. Pink, gold, and fun.

The Baseline: For a Mexican restaurant the flavors of the food must make use of the prime Mexican ingredients (corn, beans, chiles, rice, cheese, and meats), preparation of sauces/salsas, the meal portion size must make me feel full, and feeling of the restaurant must give me the feeling of a Mexican restaurant. Food: Lucha Libre had some very good flavors for their offerings. The Champion Nachos were great with chicken and the sauce almost had a mole rather than chipotle taste (5 out of 5). The tacos were all well done and they had great presentation and taste (4 out of 5; average). The Burritos are bricks of delicious Mexican flavor wrapped into a tight blanket of tortilla (5 out of 5). Service: Self order kiosk to make ordering easy. Great service from the staff delivering food. Ambiance: Mexican Wrestler vibes, feels, and decor makes me happy to eat Mexican food here. The restaurant was inviting and clean. Clean bathroom and the patio was well maintained. Parking in the adjacent lot is easy if you can find a space and you need to pay attention to what spaces are designated to which business.

My wife's grandma watched the luchadors (wrestlers) on television and it was always entertaining. She saw Lucha Libre's entire theme was to pay homage to Mexico's luchadors and they didn't disappoint. We paid for the champions table and it was a lot of fun The food js also delicious. I got the birria (meat) burrito, some rolled tacos, and bean burritos and it was great. The salsa was on point, too! The chips were fresh and there were plenty for all six of us. I highly recommend. The merch is also some of the best!

Have you ever eaten with golden utensils and fancy plateware at a wrestling themed taco shop? Book the Champs Booth online and you'll get a one of a kind SD experience - the velvet ropes guarding the huge gold sequined table will be swept aside, and you and your entourage can feast like garañones, starting with eating chips and salsa straight from the massive golden trophy at the center of the table. The booth itself is golden too with massive diamond studs and the best view of both the luchadores hall of fame wall and the TV showing nonstop lucha action. Food is decent here - especially appreciated is the variety and quality of the salsa bar, as well as the freshness of the aguas frescas. But the Champs Booth is something special, serving up the VIP taco shop experience you never knew you needed.

Birria Quesa Taco ($6.25) - The Birria was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. I loved how spicy it was, too. I definitely preferred this taco and would get it again. Surf & Turf Taco ($7.50) - I'm usually a fan of a chipotle crema, but it overpowered the steak and shrimp here. Adding their Dragon Salsa, which was so delicious and spicy, balanced the chipotle crema well.

Solid 4.5 First and foremost, the ambience is unique and memorable. The pink Lucha Libre-themed decor really stands out and gives the place a fun vibe. The tacos were great. Meat was tender, well-seasoned, and juicy. The only downside was the creamy sauce. There was a bit too much of it and it slightly overpowered the flavors. Prices are on the higher side at about $6-7 per taco, but the quality is there. The salsa bar was a standout with tons of unique and flavorful options. Overall, a great spot to hit if you're in the area and want good tacos with a fun atmosphere. Would definitely come back.

    Tj dog

I like lucha libre, most things here are good and the free chips are a plus. The constantly changing menu though is an annoyance however, they used to have tj dogs they used to have enchiladas, they used to have bottled Jamaica aqua Fresca drinks and they constantly have "limited time" menu items sometimes they bring back the enchiladas as a limited time item It's a little frustrating since some stuff will become a new "favorite item" only to be gone next time I visit and sometimes permanently. The champion fries (basically their version of carne asada fries) now have chipotle sauce on it which "isn't bad" but again another random change I don't think was needed for an already great menu item. Take my feedback or don't. The art decor and the bathrooms are memorable and it's a good spot for dining with friends, the champion booth requires a reservation

VIP booth, 3 kids meals and Surf & Turf Burrito

First stop on impromptu staycation w/ both kiddos--who r hard to please. Call the Vatican, ya'll. If you don't see a mess on the table, it's because the kids ate it all which is a DAMN. miracle. Ours is a 4 different dinner household. Street corn? Hell yes Kids meals that taste like adult Yummies? YAAAAP. VIP booth just cuz? Why the hell not Legit service that was fast & hot? BOOM. Perfect stop for a family meal especially a quick one to please your insanely picky kids, and a hungry bear of a dad. Decor: ON POINTE. The only negative thing I could say Is that now I have to take my kids to a real Lucha Libre match, which in all honesty ain't no negative at all. Dos thumbs ALL THE WAY UUP! P.S.-Just get the damn Horchata. I accept tips via Venmo and Zelle. You're welcome.

On our way from LA to the SD zoo and we decided to have a quick lunch! Some friends of ours recommended this spot where the place had fun decor and great food! We got the following: - Seafood Taco -Select Blackened Mahi or Grilled Shrimp with Cabbage, Pico de Gallo, Queso Enchilado & Creamy Pink Sauce on a Flour Tortilla $7.50 - Surf & Turf Taco - Steak, Shrimp, Avocado, Queso Enchilado & Secret Chipotle Sauce on a Com Tortilla $6.25 - Strawberry Lemonade $5 - Mango Agua Fresco $5

Had tacos in San Diego all weekend and these were probably the best tacos I had. I ordered the quesabirria tacos and they were soooo juicy and tasty. I absolutely loved the vibes and the whole aesthetic of the restaurant. Every single wall was decorated with Lucha Libre pictures, even the ceiling and the bathroom! As you enter, you order on the kiosk, grab a letter, and wait for your food. You then pick up your food at the counter once your letter is called. Very little interaction between customers and employees. Would definitely check this place out again whenever I find myself in San Diego!

Came on a Monday night and the service was quick and food came out fast. We got the TJ corn, adohaba taco, and surf and turf taco. Pros: The pork/pineapple was a great combo, my favorite thing we ordered. The shrimp in the surf and turf was perfectly cooked, not chewy at all. Con: Food is really expensive, it was 6/7 dollar per taco The TJ corn and surf and tacos were definitely on the saltier side

    El Jefe Burrito
    Jeremy L.

My friends and I were looking for a quick bite before our San Diego Zoo excursion and came across Lucha Libre. We ordered for pickup ahead of time via DoorDash, but ended up eating at their outdoor patio area. Of course, it wasn't until after we finished eating that we saw the signage saying food ordered for pickup shouldn't be eaten there... oops. Each pair shared a breakfast burrito. They got the Chilaquiles Burrito while we get the El Jefe Burrito. My partner and I enjoyed ours for the most part as it had a bit of everything. We still thought it was considered a basic/standard breakfast burrito. The steak was well seasoned and moist, but there wasn't enough to supplement the each bite. They give the options of scrambled or omelette styled eggs, but the omelette style was a bit dry and dense. The burrito mostly relied on the extensive salsa bar (which was pretty good!) They also give tortilla chips, pairing well with the salsa. The other couple felt similar of their chilaquiles burrito, but wished it had meat. Because we all shared, it didn't feel too heavy, but I can imagine feeling differently if I ate an entire burrito. Inside was well decorated and clean. It appears to be one of those self order/self serve places. The staff was nice and didn't pay us much mind outside of the polite greetings as we picked up our food. Overall, a good experience, but probably wouldn't return outside of convenience sake.

I love love love the interior design, cocktails, food, and especially that they allow dogs. Everyone was so sweet to her. Food came out fast, too. Beware there's only street parking, no valet service (unless you're a hotel guest), so that can present a challenge. Reservations a MUST on weekends, especially with a group. Now for the food reviews. Everything we ordered was delicious from the squash blossom and smashed tuna tartare appetizers to the El Festin platter (made for groups) . Since the main dining area is kept dark for the dramatic gothic effect, it's tricky to rely on your sense of sight for the presentation of each of the dish. The highlight for me was the chili garlic shrimp tacos. So full of flavor! The only drawback is that many of their dishes are made with nuts. So if you have a nut allergy, which one of us in our group did, the menu was limiting. Overall, it's an incredible place for first timers and out-of- towners. I might return for a special celebration, but not repeatedly. Once is good enough experience, especially with so many other special dining options in our fine city.

It features a huge outdoor terrace with fire pits and refreshing ocean breezes, making it perfect for watching sunsets, snapping photos, or romantic dates. The weather wasn't ideal the day I went, and I arrived a little late, so I missed the sunset glow, but I still had an amazing experience overall. So I was very excited to see what this place had to offer. Celebrated my daughter's 19th birthday here this week, and to be honest, I was not impressed. The location and views from this place are unmatched. Tons of covered patio seating with a breathtaking view of the downtown skyline. As for the food, it was just ok. It was mostly mexican seafood, but there was a good mix of other items like steak and a wagu burger. Everything was served hot and fresh, but in my honest opinion, everything just lacked flavor. Everything I tasted was just bland, and I tasted a little bit of all of my family's meals. But everyone agreed. Maybe we are just spoiled with San Diego Mexican food. My biggest complaint of the night was the service. Our waiter started off well. He took our drink orders and when he returned, asked if we wanted to get appetizers started, which we did. Our appetizers came out and were finished and we still had not seen our server to order our main dinner. This continued to be the issue all night, we were constantly looking and waiting for our server. There were other servers that came around and filled our drinks and took our plates, and they were great! But we really didn't see our main server most of the night. And one of the times that we did walk by, my daughter asked for a new glass of water because she had dropped food into the glass. He took the glass and never came back. I ended up giving my daughter my water. I did notice that the servers at the other tables were awesome. They were attentive, and we constantly saw them checking on their guest. And like I said, we are fans of all of the Cohn restaurants we have dined at before, so the level of service we received is not typical. Maybe our server was new??? I will say, this is not a cheap place to eat. My family of 5 spent almost $240 and that was with no alcohol or desserts. So you would expect to receive a high level of service. Other than the ambience, our experience was just ok. I would highly recommend the restaurants next door, which are owned by the same owner, and have never disappointed us in quality and/or service (Island Prime or C-Level).

If that's the case, it should be made clear at pickup so customers know to pack it themselves, especially for first-time customer like me. Fish taco wasn't as crispy as expected (unlike kiko's) and would probably taste better if it comes with the salsa sauce. Overview: very quick and friendly service, yummy California Burrito according to my bf…read more ---- We placed an order through the phone for a California Burrito ($13.90) and a Fish Taco ($5.50) and they said it would be ready in 5 minutes! We left right away to pick up the food and sure enough it was ready waiting for our arrival. One quick drive back home to dig in and the aroma was so enticing. California Burritos is very apt for their name, my bf rates it a 10/10. As a California Burrito connoisseur, he liked the addition of sour cream in it and said the flavors were delicious. He topped it with their green salsa for a little bit of a freshness to cut through the richness and fattiness of the meat and fries in the burrito. He didn't care for the fish taco that much and rated it a 4/10 but said the restaurant overall was a 10/10, as he thought there was too much lettuce and tomato throwing off the ratio of the taco. I, on the other hand, am a huge fan of veggies and liked the ample amount they provided. ---- There's a couple benches outside in front of the shop and seating at booth tables inside as well. It's a bit smaller to sit inside, I recommend sitting outside to enjoy the fresh air and the sunset is beautiful. ---- Overall: if you're in the mood for California Burritos come to the place rightly named California Burritos!

They do things a little different at this place. The California had guacamole and sour cream. Makes…read moreit more like a carne asada burrito adding fries. That said, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this burrito. It's large, filling, but their sauce had an almost artificial red color to it. Despite the weird look of the sauce, it had decent spice, wasn't overwhelming but wasn't weak either. Parking is very difficult here, and seating is limited. It's a small tack shop style place, made more for to-go orders. Service was fast and friendly. Their horchata is where they really lose a star, it's from a fountain and tastes like it, watered down artificial flavor. However you don't come here for the drinks, you come here for the large tasty California Burritos, hence the name. They've definitely won me over and I'll be back when in the area. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating.

From start to finish, everything was wonderful and I will NEVER forget my experience. We were met immediately with great service as well as continuing to receive it from every member of staff including our lovely server. Every other member that brought out our food & drinks was just as delightful. The weather was perfect to be seated outdoors in their patio, it matched the relaxing and enjoyable vibe we had. The food, I mean, the FOOD was undeniably delicious and full of flavor. I've literally never had a better taco anywhere else. The Al pastor was exceptionally juicy and tasteful and I'm so glad I went with my go to because it's a meal I'll never forget. The Agua Fresca were so refreshing too, sweet but not overly sweet, just the right balance. Overall, I have another new favorite when I come back out again.

    * catching up on old backlogged drafts so this review may be a bit out of date…read more Booked a big group dinner here as they had lots of spacious seating. We were split into two tables outside. Overall the experience was pretty underwhelming. The food was not very flavorful - it wasn't authentic Mexican food or even good California fusion Mexican food. There are so many better Mexican restaurants in San Diego, it was disappointing to have wasted a meal here. I believe it's a chain so not sure if the other locations are better as I've only tried this one.
