We arrived on a Saturday afternoon a little after 1600, just after a DJ had finished up. Immediately greeted, welcomed, and sat at a table. Waitress was very attentive. Other staff were too, ensuring we had been helped and checking to see if we needed anything. Started with the crab and shrimp seafood fries. Shrimp were good. Didn't really care for the finely flaked crab on the fries. Found it dry. Fries were pretty salty and limp. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Very good. Should have asked for hot sauce though. It improved the dish in my opinion when I had the leftovers. The triple threat was also ordered by table. Tons of good food! Excellent thick, crispy and flavorful catfish. Shrimp were very good too. Took the chicken home. It was pretty good warmed up. Okra were kind of dry. Appreciated the carafe of water and excellent service. Unfortunately didn't necessarily enjoy the noise level inside the restaurant. It's very loud and hard to hear each other at your table. My family was so excited tonight to try out Luchals. We're gluten free and having a full fish dinner was special! We were in the area last week and apparently even though 11pm was the advertised closing time, we were told they were closing at 8pm and it was currently 740. We were determined to finally try Luchals so we traveled from 40 minutes away tonight ready for a family meal. We started our ordering off strong with 4 appetizers, loaded fries, crab cakes, honey salmon and fried green tomatoes. My husband and I both ordered a cocktail. Him the lemon drink and I ordered the smoked old fashion. When my drink first came out I immediately noticed that the orange look dried out. Disappointed that the drink looked like a Motel 6 cocktail I took a sip. I sat it down and decided to ditch the orange because I didn't want to put it in my drink like I normally would. Once I pulled the orange off, white liquid dripped down the side of my glass. I started examining the orange to see what the heck would be white. It was mold. The orange was covered in white, green and pink mold. I'm not saying a tiny amount. But a lot of mold. I showed the server my glass, she apologized and remade the cocktail. This was supposed to be the same smoked old fashion as the first, but this one had a different cherry, a different glass and had a wood lid full of smoke, to make it a smoked old fashion, as it was supposed to be in the beginning. Totally grossed out, we reluctantly ate our fried green tomato app with our fingers and no small plates. Then our crab cake and fries was delivered. The fries did not arrive as ordered. We had requested as was on the menu but it was delivered with shrimp, which our kids hate. She fixed the fries and we asked for small plates. She brought us a stack of 5 plates and all five of them were dirty. Not water marks. But dried on food chunks. At that point we were done. Completely grossed out and done. We read about this place in the paper. It was billed as Cajun Soul Food. The portions are huge and I will be back. The space used to be a bar before. They have taken it over but the laminate floor with industrial ceiling makes the acoustics rough. Loud music wasn't enough to overcome a screaming child. They have a great vibe with black themed art and TV shows running. Makes for a fantastic homey feel. The food was amazing. If anything my gripe is there was too much. I had the Bayou Fish and Grits. So flavorful. My wife got the Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was moist and well seasoned. My son got the Catfish and Shrimp. Crispy and delicious. My daughter got the Salmon Bites. They had a sweet sauce that was off putting after the Cajun wow that was everything else. The service was slow, however super friendly. To her credit, Crystal was running non stop managing the 24 tables, most were parties of 6+. I think a little more help will help it smooth out. I will definitely be returning. read more

I ordered the catfish platter, hubby ordered the shrimp and grits, our son ordered the shrimp and catfish platter and, we ordered the kid's meal - chicken and waffles for our little one, all of the entrées were seasoned well and delicious! My favorite were the catfish and the shrimp that were cooked perfectly! One minor negative was the side white rice was not heated correctly. Excellent customer service. I stopped here while in the area after a hike in Colorado Springs. The area/ambiance appeared a bit questionable. But that didn't stop me, those are usually the best places to eat. We had high hopes for this one but overall it wasn't the best experience. I ordered a catfish platter with red beans and rice and okra. The okra was pretty hard and the red beans and rice didn't have much flavor to them. The catfish was good. You could tell it was fresh! I just wish the flavor on it had been a bit bolder. Made a reservation which can't say was needed for a Wednesday night. Ample seating was available. They did have outdoor seating, but I didn't check it out. A live karaoke was set up and the lady who was running it had a beautiful voice! She was jamming throughout the night. Food was amazing with everyone enjoying their meals. From the fried catfish, fried chicken, collard greens, red beans and rice, shrimp and grits, Cajun pasta, fried green tomatoes or the bourbon glazed scallops - no complaints at the table. Seen this place on Tiktok while I was in Colorado and decided to give it a try. Eating here was one of the BEST decisions I ever made! The decor and atmosphere is amazing and even had modern R&B music playing. I had the Triple Threat and it was breathtaking. The mac and cheese was SO creamy, the catfish was perfectly seasoned, and the chicken was crispy and tender. My waitress (who was also the bartender) was so sweet and has an amazing personality. We had a bit of a mixed experience at Luchals this Easter Sunday; while the food was absolutely fantastic and enjoyed by everyone in the family, the service timing unfortunately didn't quite keep up. When we arrived, it didn't seem crowded and there were a good amount of open tables, but they appeared to be understaffed for the day. While the staff was professional, things moved very slowly. It took a long time to get our drink orders taken and even longer to get the drinks to the table. Most frustratingly, my son never received his drink at all, even after we asked for it a second time. On the other hand, the meal itself was really good. Just about everyone ordered the chicken and waffles, and we also had the fish. Every dish was a hit and we all truly enjoyed what we ate. Because the kitchen is clearly doing a great job, we will definitely be back to give it another try, hopefully on a day when the front-of-house service is a bit more in sync. read more

The reviews are mostly inflated or written by people with zero taste or class The photos of food they share on their website and yelp are not from their kitchen. The pictures are staged and from a chef who doesn't work there. The salmon bites were just plane awful The fried green tomatoes were frozen along with literally everything else and fried in cheap oils. Gluten free means nothing if you're using cheap oils! The lemon wedge on my water cup looked used. Asked for more, was brought more of the same. Dehydrated lemon slices from days ago The collard greens were laughably bad. Texture and flavor. Awful! Service too, sadly was a joke Our server seemed to be disappointed the place was dead and even told us we were in for a treat since it was our first time... and absolutely the last time. We were never impressed. We immediately felt like this is a strip club and not a restaurant. I'm guessing it's open to provide a place to entertain late at night and sell drugs or ass because food isn't on even a long list of things they're good at. I am 100% beach rasied/well traveled many, many beach locations in several countries and everywhere in the US - I love Maryland Blue Crab, my Step Dad's family, would catch then eat them in the shell on newspapers - one of the best, and expensive crabs there are, and where ever any decent let alone real lump or west coast crab crab meat, theirs was flavorless and we couldn't identify any. The blue crab fries...we literally thought they WERE blue crab fries...they are whatever crab/very cheap &/or little...the crab cakes were mostly batter/breading, and there was incredibly little crab meat, however imitation, frozen, cheap. The scallops - you pay approximately $20.00 for: 4 they are smaller, they were over cooked to rubber consistency & and covered in some burnt "Asian" inspired sticky sauce. We DID enjoy their "seafood" either blue crab - supposedly or crab "covered," - hah - macaroni...after removing their "faux" seafood, and REALLY enjoyed their Mac enough to return and buy it...but, when we tried, during their day time/brunch schedule, you can not EVEN BUY the full sized entrée, except with brunch...that and except for one very helpful lady, perhaps the Manager, everyone else was INCREDIBLY rude, & either like they couldn't be bothered or out right "put out." And, yes, two of us both were spoken to in a very unkind manner. We wouldn't EVER return (nor would we recommend to ANYONE) just on the lack of quality with high expense. ALL of that on top of practically being abused...for? Paying for the experience? P.S.: OH, this is NOT a restaurant that gives you sauces, maybe 1 small side, when we purchased all the seafood sauces, they're "Pink" sauce for instance: they charged like $0.60+ per small condiment container - which we could understand - a little, but, (we purchased at least 17+ sauces, after discovering they fill them ONLY the bottom ¼of the SMALL container. Second time that the family has visited this soul food and seafood restaurant between colorado springs and fountain. Think of the best seafood / soul food places around the Gulf of Mexico , Alabama or Georgia and you'll see that the food is better or just as good. I liked the sides such as fried green tomatoes, fried okra, collard greens, cooked Brussels sprouts, red beans and rice! I liked the collard greens a lot. The coatings on the large filets of fish are flavorful and remind me of the southeast fish houses on the side of the road and soulfood places. The blue crab mac and cheese is far better than anything that I've had before in a soul food or expensive restaurant like Gordon Biersch in Atlanta, Georgia. This chicken, shrimp and fish in triple threat were cooked perfectly. Large servings and you'll have leftovers to enjoy for lunch or possibly another dinner. Large dining area with great vibes with music and the art on the walls. The environment is family friendly and great for large parties. The serve , Renee, was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I've always loved the food at Luchals since I started getting it at their Tejon location when they opened a few years ago. Whether I got takeout or ate there. This is the first time I paid $35 that included a tip and I was so disappointed. The portion was really small and the fries were cold. Ordered waffles with eggs over easy, the eggs were hard & burnt, the waffles were cold. The other 6 meals in our party were as well cold. The service was very slow, they acted as if they did not care if you were served or not! They gave us a lunch & dinner menu but when we were to order they said it had to be off of the brunch menu?
