I have to admit I love the layout of this place and the location as part of the Morgan Parc development here. I came in for a relatively quiet weekday lunch. For my order I went with a trio of tacos - al pastor, coconut shrimp (both of these were listed as signature items) and the crispy fish. The Al Pastor was the best of them, but overall the tacos were on the sweet side probably due to the condiments and additions of onions and corn that were pickled. Glad they have hot sauces on the table to bring need heat. I got a side salad with this - I would say this is bit of afterthought lettuce with 3 pieces of cucumber and tomato each there wasn't much to it. I tried the Carne Asada bowl - again a bit on the sweet side, but they give a good amount of food. They use a cheese blend and I think one of them is a parmesan because it tasted a bit out of place. We ordered a piece of tres leches and it had a maple flavor that was unexpected. It took me a second, but I placed that it reminded me of a discontinued Entenmann's cake that I think was maple walnut iced cake. If you remember that and miss it then get this. I enjoyed this non-traditional version. Although not the best Mexican food I would come back here and perhaps try other items on the menu since it seems inventive, but I will keep my expectations in check because the execution doesn't always hit the mark. read more

Finally got to visit this location which is beautiful! The bar area is gorgeous and I love the outdoor patio! Happy hour specials are always a great deal! Pro tip: order the coconut marg (not on menu but so good) - I get it frozen and it's delish! Also tried the veggie nachos for the first time and I'll absolutely be getting them again! Recently ordered a family meal with sides on New Year's Eve. Everything was ready for pickup and neatly organized and packaged well. Some of the tacos were done well, particularly the crispy fish taco and crunchy shrimp tacos. The chicken taco and birria tacos were also not bad mostly because they had enough sauce to keep it moist. The Al pastor steak taco unfortunately we would probably avoid in the future. The steak was dry and the taco was just not moist enough to eat happily. We had a side of nachos which was great and also the street corn side as a dip was also delicious. The jalapeño poppers had a good crunch, however, it lacked any spice at all and tasted almost like a regular fried green pepper. Even though we ordered out, the ambiance seemed nice inside and also kid friendly. We may return in the future to try other menu items. read more

Nice ambience (you can even play corn hole outside) and the food was both flavorful and not crazy expensive (next time I need to try the local bbq duck- bet you haven't seen that in Mexican food before!). The duck taco was a bit too sweet for our tastes - the carne asada was the best amongst the 4, it had a nice Smokey flavor and seemed to be from good quality flank steak. Tried giving this place multiple chances since it sadly knocked out Burrito Blvd. They've made constant errors to orders (I don't use a third party, I go directly through them and their website). Early on "Tall" Paul had been nice enough to help one on one with complimentary items for their errors, so we gave them yet another chance this past weekend and once again got multiple items on our order wrong, including one drink that has one flavor. There's a food allergy in the house as well, so trusting them is even more difficult since the most mundane of services seemed to be escaping this whole process. Was told by Jonathan that Paul was no longer there when we called immediately to let them know of wrong items (but I see in reviews a week ago that he is there?), put on hold numerous times by him, and then he acknowledged giving us the wrong food, but then would not refund the item (did not ask for the entire bill to be refunded, just ONE item that they acknowledged getting wrong). Was then told after he "checked" with managers and general managers that Paul wasn't at that location, and "someone" would call me back that night or the next morning to rectify the situation. Going on a week now, no call, but the full charge went through. What a shock. Plenty of other taco places around that are more attentive, address issues and have better customer service, let alone food. read more

I've been to Lucharitos in Melville, so when I heard about the opening of their Mineola location, I knew I had to check it out. For an appetizer, we ordered the Chip Dip Trio. My favorite was the guacamole, followed by the salsa and then the queso. I also had two carne asada tacos, which were both packed with flavor. While they may not be the most authentic tacos I've ever had, they're still very good. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their tacos as well. Beyond the food, I want to highlight the fantastic service we received. The staff was incredibly attentive. When we ran out of chips, a fresh basket arrived within seconds. They even refilled my drink faster than I could finish it, which was impressive. The managers also made an effort to connect with us. Once they found out it was our first visit, they made sure we felt welcomed. The ambiance is great as well. We sat near the bar and It felt like the kind of place that would really come alive on a Thursday through Saturday night, especially with the bar area likely drawing a good crowd. Whether you're stopping by for a casual lunch/dinner or planning a fun night out with friends, the atmosphere at Lucharitos Mineola makes it an enjoyable spot. read more

Mexican is my go-to comfort food and I'd have to say, this place is very mid. The trio dips were 100% not worth it, the queso was basically melted velveta and did not taste good at all and got very thick very quick...The salsa was bland, but the Guac was good. The chips and Guac are a far better option and way cheaper. The service wasn't that great, especially when the restaurant wasn't very busy. I got the steak churrasco and the first bite of the steak was rubbery but the middle of it was good. The rice that came with it was essentially boxed rice without a drop of flavor to it. The wings were the only truly enjoyable thing we had while we were there. If you're looking for a tasty Mexican meal, you're better off at another place. This was an interesting dining experience. The staff was attentive and friendly, which is always a plus, however, the food wasn't what I was expecting. To me, the flavors obviously weren't authentic Mexican, but not quite Tex-Mex either. I had the chips and dip trio to start. The queso had a mild American cheese flavor and was a bit sweet, which was a little offputting. The guacamole was plain. It tasted basically like a freshly mash, avocado, and that's it. This also was very watery and had a mildly seasoned flavor. I ordered three tacos. The mahi-mahi was pretty good. The fish was well seasoned, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. The second taco was the shrimp and that was a disappointment. The shrimp had an odd texture and seem to be of a cheap quality since it had the flavorless guacamole on it, it was unexceptional. The third taco was picadillo and this was not even close to picoadillo. The ground beef was essentially season with salt and that's about it. If you like large portions, this restaurant will give you that. If you want the experience of an Ortega box taco kit then this will be an ideal place to grab a bite to eat and get a drink at the bar. I would give this zero stars if I could. We went here on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend. We got there at 4:00 PM and were the only ones in the restaurant. First of all the service was painfully slow, the manager, waitress and bar staff were all hanging around paying no attention to their only diners. They all seemed to want to be anywhere but here. No smiles, no hello, no thank you etc... We ordered pork nachos, a margherita and a beer. I would have had a margherita but they had a VERY small selection of tequila so I ordered a beer. The margherita came out, the nachos came out but no beer. Oh, the nachos were chicken, not pork and we had to send it back. Others in our party also were served the wrong order. Three of the four were wrong. Every time we needed something we had to run around and find someone to help us, for example, more napkins or even a straw for the margherita. I love Mexican food and am a big tequila fan but with so many good Mexican restaurants, I see no reason for anyone to go here. I could go on and on but... Went here for the first time a little while ago. Met Justin who told us, in addition to being the bartender, has been with the Lucharitos family for years. It showed. The minute we walked in, he was engaging, attentive and helpful. Even made a great drink suggestion. Had the quesadilla, shrimp tacos and Mexican street corn. Everything was great. I had dinner here the other night with some friends, we sat outside on the patio. Didn't get our waitresses name but she was incredibly nice and had great recommendations.
