As a native NY guy I can say with some authority that Lucia is a classic. Love their House Pie. It has all the elements of a well made, perfectly baked pizza. Also nowhere better for a quick slice. You may turn around and order another. Love that they stick with the basics. You won't find rows of pizzas with chicken and ranch dressing toppings or the like. Warning: Do not order through delivery services like Postmates etc. Order directly. Last delivery was so bad it was almost comical. I saw the icon of my delivery go forward then go back several times. Sometimes moving in circles. Haven't been here in years and still as good as I remember. This place is super basic. There's not much space. Right hand side is the counter where you order and on the left hand side is a small counter with chairs where you can eat. $2.50 for a cheese slice that definitely hits the spot. Every time when I walk by the store, it is always busy and it serves as a great alternative for people who crave for something other than Chinese or Korean. The price tag is very reasonable for both slices and pies. And for only $2.75, you get a slice of the very classic and humble NY cheese pizza. The significance of the pizzeria is way beyond a pizza shop, but serving the neighborhood, especially for those who are less fortunate to have a delicious hot meal. I had to order the classic cheese pizza for my first try. It took a while to wait as they were busy as usual and the pies are made to order. The crust was amazing, so crispy, yet still got some chews. I liked the flavor of the sauce, though it was a little bit on the saltier side, but tasted fresh. I wish it was saucier that could provide more moist to the pie and bring more acidity to cut down the richness of the overloaded cheese. But overall, it was a satisfying pizza dinner. If you want to be lied to and wait almost 2 hours for a basic pie this is your place. After waiting almost an hour, i called for a status update and they said the pie was on the way. Never showed up. Second call: now they say we need to wait 30 more minutes because they are backed up and refused accept they lied during the first call. We asked for the order to be cancelled and they refused. We had uber eats call them, they told uber eats the pizza left and would be here in 5 minutes. We live 8 minutes away and 25 minutes later still no pizza. We had uber eats call them again and this time the liars told uber that we had cancelled the order and clearly they could see we had not. Honesty gets you further. This may very well be the best slice of pizza in Queens. It's thin crust topped with a slightly sweet sauce and not an overabundance of cheese. I usually order a house pie to go and it's always right on the money. I prefer my slices with red pepper flakes and oregano. This place keeps the slices coming so nothing sits around. This is where I take my out-of-town family any time they miss genuine New York pizza. The pizza is as fresh as possible (literally made in front of you) with quality ingredients. So, when I entered the store there was one customer that was ordering and then some customers came in and he decided to take their order. I grew up eating here but it was never my favorite area spot. I have some fond memeories of chatting with the owner, of watching the Flushing Pimp (RIP) strut by with his cane while I munched. The sauce and cheese are top notch. I love me a saucy slice and they nail the flavor. But the crust has always been on the limp and soggy side. Not completely, but the first half off the slice is always hard to eat due to it's flopping about, the second half holds up better, but I've still never had that perfect thin slice chew. I mainly stopped in again for sauce and nostalgia. The place is super tiny and always packed; I ate in the alley to the left on a plant dividier that had the least amount of bird shit on it. We asked a local city worker for the best pizza place, he didn't know the name but told us how to get there. My daughter and I wanted to order everything on the menu! We let them decide what we should get. We got the special pizza with surprise toppings, Sicilian cheese and pepperoni, garlic knots and gelato! The prices are fabulous and the service was amazing. The man who helped us even showed my daughter how to add everything together and count back the correct change.
