Not sure why this place only has 3-stars. The flavor is better than good. We've only had food delivered from here and not sat inside but we had the calamari, garlic breadsticks, meatball parmigiana sub and lasagna famosa. No issues. We'd eat here again & you get what you pay for. read more

Extremely salty pizza. It was perfectly cooked to our crisp request. The service was intrusive to the extreme! They need better training. We were actively looking and discussing the menu options and he approached 3 times to take our order and we still had not put our menu down or closed our menu! Very polite! Very attentive, very nice, he just needs better training or the training needs to be adjusted. He asked if I wanted the ticket and my dining partner was not at the table ... twice! GREAT ITALIAN FOOD!!! I'm originally from NYC and grew up in a predominantly All Italian neighborhood. I've honestly been hesitant to try Italian food here because I grew up with real authentic Italian food in New York. My dad came to visit from New York and I told him that I had always wanted to try a restaurant over here but I wasn't sure. We decided to try it and have the absolute best experience. My dad is a tough critic because he grew up on Italian food as well. Everything we ordered from the calamari to the lasagna to the penne was absolutely delicious the portions were huge and you got your moneys worth. The waiter that we had was so attentive to us and so polite we even called the manager over to let her know that he was doing such a great job. We got a cannoli at the end and felt like we had a little piece of New York right at our table. I definitely would recommend Luciano over and over again even on top of these pricier Italian restaurants. They really know what they're doing here from service down to absolutely delicious food. My dad still talks about that restaurant till this day he says he can't wait to come back! read more

Don't go if you want to enjoy you're meal. They give balls of dough to young children to play with. They allow the children to then run around and make noise. Manager should have stepped in to protect their other customers. In the end, I nicely suggested the mother should pay more attention to her children and when the mother got all trailer trash up in my face, we were asked to leave. Not sure if that bitch and her 2 brats were the owner's daughter and granddaughter or if the place but I can't imagine why anyone would want to eat at a restaurant with so little respect for their customers. If you want to enjoy their meal, stay far away. If you are a negligent parent looking for a restaurant that will tolerate your badly behaved children, I guess this place is for you. read more

We decided to dine at this establishment reason Grimaldi was a long wait. Bad idea. First the waitress, very young had an attitude, she got annoyed because she had to come back twice to take our order. No bread or olive oil dip was given, I had to ask another waitress. No problem with her. The food not good. My pizza was warm and did not taste good at all. My husband had a panini which was also warm and the cheese was not even melted. I must say when I did get the bread that was good! As for the waitress she stayed at the front door talking to the host. Never again! read more

Let me first start off by saying the service is ALWAYS excellent. Always. But I've only eaten here twice. First time was great, service wise food the whole chabang. I fell in love with their charcuterie board so I decided to order it again with the hubby but unfortunately I was very much disappointed. As you can tell by the picture the amount of food, the type of food on the board and the absence of food is the reason for the one star rating. I knew something was off but I really couldn't put my finger on it until the hubbs said "hey this charcuterie board looks different from the pic you took a month ago?" so yeah, I went into my pic roll and immediately saw the difference. I called the waitress (which so happened to be the waitress from my first visit) and showed her the pic of the first charcuterie board versus the current one I had in front me and asked her if there was a reason this one looked different or if they changed the menu etc...she said no, the boards should be consistent aside of the some variance due to the season (which is understandable) well at the end the manager was willing to give me a $3.30 discount. I couldn't help but laugh. It wasn't about getting a refund. I just want to know if this is what I'm going to have to expect every time I go and order the charcuterie board. Inconsistency. So folks this is my review. I greatly hope Lucianos creates a plan or outline of what items go on the board along with placement so no matter when the menu item is order it looks the same EVERY SINGLE TIME. This restaurant aways has exceptional Italian food, from the antipasto to the pizza. We have yet to have dessert. They also sell Mexican Cola, of course it is San Antonio, but worth noting as it is bueno. Suggestions: always serve the caprese with balsamic vinegar, lose the grapes on the antipasto and sub kalamata olives. *Our waitress was sweet, but she messed up on two dishes because she didn't write our order down. read more

Overall, a good experience... I don't think I'll be running back anytime soon though. I am a fan of Luciano on Facebook, so jumped on the opportunity to take advantage of a recent special they had today. They advertised 2 XL pizzas for $21. A really good deal considering 1 XL pizza is about $20. I called up another Luciano before this one and was on hold for about ten minutes so called this one instead. I appreciated the server over the phone being patient with me about the special (it sounded like no one really knew about the "Duncan Day" special). Once I got over to a server who could help me, they were extremely nice and they told me about 20 minutes so I ran over there immediately. Now, the bad part about this place is the location. It's horrible. Especially if you are just doing take-out. There is no spots nearby except a huge parking lot behind the building it is situated in. I am not a huge fan of La Cantera either, especially the location of this store, it is severely cramped. Once I arrived, I wasn't greeted at all which was somewhat awkward especially when the hostess and like 10 other servers were just standing around the entrance. I had to wait for one of them to make eye contact with me before I could ask about picking up my order. She sent me to the bar which I waited there for about five minutes before someone helped me, even though there were 2 managers behind the bar and about 3 servers chatting between themselves. Manager eventually helped me out and he was super friendly. Now we get the pizza home, and the family absolutely LOVED it. It was really good pizza and definitely one of the best I've had recently. We will probably go back in the future, but I might try a different location. read more

On Sept. 7th I ate at Luciano Pizzeria located at 15900 La Cantera. This is an upscale casual Italian Bistro restaurant with a nice Bar, indoor and outdoor seating and a very comfortable atmosphere. I ordered a Turkey & Provolone Panini which includes Tomato, lettuce and House-Made Italian Dressing. While the bread tasted fresh I expected a bit more Turkey. As my picture shows, it appears the Lettuce is the dominant item here. This being said the Panini was tasty and satisfied my hunger. I paired this Panini with House Pinot Grigio. This is a light dry white wine with a gentle floral nose, perfect for a light meal. Rayna was my Server at the Bar. She is very sweet and I could have listened to her recite the entire menu with her Italian accent. I'll come back and hopefully, bring someone with me to share a larger meal. Bon Apetit. read more

As a child, I ate at Lucianos many times at malls. The latest I wanna inform y'all is their Sausage, peperoni, Salami, and Ham Stromboli. Man oh MAN!!!! The cold and hot cut meats along with what I felt as melted provolone cheese stuffed in a dinner (not sweet) pastry is a fountain of the wonderful feelings you get as you munch onto them. We went to Luciano's on 07/29/16 at 12:58 (check time). We had ordered the Antipastro for 2 and it had mold on the grapes. We didn't touch but 1/4 of the tray before we noticed. We decided to tell the waitress. When the manager got over there, she removed the grapes with the mold and said that it was common for them to have mold. Then proceeded to give us an employee discount for a whole platter that was contaminated because the grapes were set on top of the olives and everything else. The meat Stromboli we got was great. Our waitress could of flirted less with another employee and refill our drinks prior to us being done with our meal. It was not the most pleasant first experience there! In addition, I have one transaction that has gone through already and one that is pending. So not only did we not even eat over half our food, we are paying double! read more

This was my second time at this restaurant and l had a good experience. We got sat immediately and our server was fast to attend us. He looked nervous as if he had just began, but he was nice. We started with waters, then we ordered fettuccine alfredo and spaghetti with meatballs and warm complimentary bread. He forgot about the bread, but was kind and brought it to us when we had our entrees. The icing on the cake was the manager asking us twice how everything was. I'm a manager myself and l do not do that. So seeing him do that was awesome. He did not introduce himself, but by the way he was dressed l assumed. The price is not expensive either. I paid 30 bucks for two entrees. The venue is convenient and clean. The flavor was delicious as well. I definitely reccomend this place and will definitely go back. read more

Worst service EVER!!! Hostess said we could have the table by the door. She never gave us menus. We waited about 15 - 20 minutes, thinking they were just busy. Then I hear the waiter ask her about us and she says, I don't know, they just seated themselves!! What? So we wait another 5 minutes, thinking that they noticed us and will be bringing menus. Nope. Nothing. Finally I tell the manager we are leaving, they couldn't even acknowledge us. I get that they were a little busy for 3:00 on a Monday. But you can at least hand people menus. Tell them you're swamped, but promise you'll be back. Don't just ignore them. She apologized and offered menus. But really, who wants to order from a place full of bitchy staff? I have to say this is why I do not care for Italian food. So incredibly bland, I've added table Parmesan and red pepper flakes to my calamari...yes, I said calamari...anything for a little flavor. Note to the chef, season the batter you fry with. There's even a lady next to me who asked for salt for her baked ziti... Service is good although I've had to request things instead of being asked... This may be a mall location, but with so many others around town I certainly would not frequent any of them if this is the standard. read more

Had a pepperoni pizza from here last month and forgot to post a review. Our waitress was ehhh but the bartender/manager (?) really busted his butt to make sure our drinks were refilled and we got our check/to go box. It wasnt crowded in the least so Im not sure where our waitress was going, but oh well. The pizza was really good. Thinner crust than most SA places, with good color on the bottom. Reminded me of neighborhood pizza in Philadelphia. Prices were fair for a large 1 topping pizza, especially being in La Cantera. read more

My wife and I went to get some food for the day. We were seated quite promptly. Unfortunately this was the last good thing to happen. The couple next to us had two of the most obnoxious children on the planet. They were banging forks and knives, yelling, and playing with dough they presumably got from the restaurant. My wife and I had enough and we decided to leave. My wife spoke to the mother of the children, and I went to a manager. Who as a surprise was no where to be found. Before I could even start speaking to the waitress my Wife reappears. About five seconds later the children's mother appears followed closely by her husband. The mother of the children got into my wife's face and started screaming at her about how telling her how to raise her kids. The father of the children then bowed up to me like he was going to fight me in the middle of the restaurant. We were summarily kicked out without hearing either side of the story and presumably The husband and wife and their snot nose kids were given free desserts. Tried calling the manager after we left and were told the manager wasn't available but that they would take a message: I will never patronize this establishment again and will warn everyone I know. read more

The food wasn't great at all. I ordered an avocado salad and there was barely any avocado in the salad. The server gave us disposable glasses instead of the real ones. He said they were out of glasses but saw new folks that walked in with real glasses. He just put the check on top of the table and not in the sleeve. Other servers used a sleeve for the checks. This is one of my favorite restaurants. I always come here. The staff is really nice and they don't take long to bring out food. Most of the time I get seated right away. My friend and I were celebrating our birthdays at this Luciano. Jimmy, the manager, warmly greeted and seated us, was very attentive and friendly. He brought us 2 glasses of wine (complimentary) and took the time to speak with us. We split an order of Chicken Parmigana and he brought it on 2 plates already split. As we prepared to leave, each of us received a chocolate covered strawberry!!! We will definitely return to this location!!! They had the best eggplant palmejan and spinach stromboli . They were as good as my brothers Italian resturant in salt lake city (Renos) and my good Italian friend owner of Ferraro s in Long Beach california. I recommend this resturant for Italian food lovers. read more
