    "Same" Charcuterie board
    Dalia A.

Let me first start off by saying the service is ALWAYS excellent. Always. But I've only eaten here twice. First time was great, service wise food the whole chabang. I fell in love with their charcuterie board so I decided to order it again with the hubby but unfortunately I was very much disappointed. As you can tell by the picture the amount of food, the type of food on the board and the absence of food is the reason for the one star rating. I knew something was off but I really couldn't put my finger on it until the hubbs said "hey this charcuterie board looks different from the pic you took a month ago?" so yeah, I went into my pic roll and immediately saw the difference. I called the waitress (which so happened to be the waitress from my first visit) and showed her the pic of the first charcuterie board versus the current one I had in front me and asked her if there was a reason this one looked different or if they changed the menu etc...she said no, the boards should be consistent aside of the some variance due to the season (which is understandable) well at the end the manager was willing to give me a $3.30 discount. I couldn't help but laugh. It wasn't about getting a refund. I just want to know if this is what I'm going to have to expect every time I go and order the charcuterie board. Inconsistency. So folks this is my review. I greatly hope Lucianos creates a plan or outline of what items go on the board along with placement so no matter when the menu item is order it looks the same EVERY SINGLE TIME. Note: my current charcuterie board IS missing one bread with tomato on top.

    Turkey & Provolone Panini

On Sept. 7th I ate at Luciano Pizzeria located at 15900 La Cantera. This is an upscale casual Italian Bistro restaurant with a nice Bar, indoor and outdoor seating and a very comfortable atmosphere. I ordered a Turkey & Provolone Panini which includes Tomato, lettuce and House-Made Italian Dressing. While the bread tasted fresh I expected a bit more Turkey. As my picture shows, it appears the Lettuce is the dominant item here. This being said the Panini was tasty and satisfied my hunger. I paired this Panini with House Pinot Grigio. This is a light dry white wine with a gentle floral nose, perfect for a light meal. Rayna was my Server at the Bar. She is very sweet and I could have listened to her recite the entire menu with her Italian accent. I'll come back and hopefully, bring someone with me to share a larger meal. Bon Apetit.

As a child, I ate at Lucianos many times at malls. The latest I wanna inform y'all is their Sausage, peperoni, Salami, and Ham Stromboli. Man oh MAN!!!! The cold and hot cut meats along with what I felt as melted provolone cheese stuffed in a dinner (not sweet) pastry is a fountain of the wonderful feelings you get as you munch onto them. Plus the marinara to dip your meal into. Remarkably comforting!!! This is an Italian meal to eat again!!

    This is what we ordered.

We went to Luciano's on 07/29/16 at 12:58 (check time). We had ordered the Antipastro for 2 and it had mold on the grapes. We didn't touch but 1/4 of the tray before we noticed. We decided to tell the waitress. When the manager got over there, she removed the grapes with the mold and said that it was common for them to have mold. Then proceeded to give us an employee discount for a whole platter that was contaminated because the grapes were set on top of the olives and everything else. The meat Stromboli we got was great. Our waitress could of flirted less with another employee and refill our drinks prior to us being done with our meal. It was not the most pleasant first experience there! In addition, I have one transaction that has gone through already and one that is pending. So not only did we not even eat over half our food, we are paying double!

Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, needed to add salt lacked a little bit of flavor. But delicious after adding seasonings/herbs.

Honestly disappointing. The pizza was decent but the mozzarella sticks were not appealing. I could've made better ones at home.

A little disappointed. The calamari had no flavor, even with a generous sprinkling of salt. The Pizza was very good.

The first night I was greeted by a friendly host and sat at the bar, where Billy took great care of me. He recommended the Cotto e Salsiccia, and I'm so glad he did. It was easily one of the best pizzas I've had. While I was there, the cheesemaker let me try a bite of the fresh mozzarella they were making in-house. It was still warm and absolutely delicious. The next night I was feeling a little homesick after being away for work, and all I could think about was that pizza. I walked back in and the host greeted me by name. I sat at the bar again, where another bartender remembered me from the night before, and Billy came over just to say hi. It seems like such a small thing, but when you're traveling alone, being welcomed back like that can completely change your evening. What really impressed me was seeing that it wasn't just me. The guy next to me ordered two pizzas to go, and when the chef brought them out he smiled and said, "Oh, Jose! I thought this order looked familiar!" You can tell they actually know their regulars and genuinely enjoy what they do. The second night I ordered the Fontina e Salsiccia, and somehow it was just as good as the first pizza. Everything is cooked in the wood-fired oven--even the wings--and you can taste the difference. The crust has that perfect char, the ingredients are fresh, and it's the kind of authentic Neapolitan pizza that keeps you thinking about it long after you've left. I've eaten at a lot of good restaurants while traveling, but very few have made me feel as welcome as Dough did. Great food is one thing. Great people are what made me come back the very next day. I'll absolutely be back the next time I'm in San Antonio.

When I asked why they have a hot plate shelf next to the entrance and that I burned my arm on it, the manager and greeter state? There is a sign! They took no responsibility for the ill placement of the sign! As you walk in, we saw several People back into the shelf to allow others to get buy! I can see a child burning their hand terribly on this! What did the restaurant do? Nothing... several times we suggested something be done and not until the manager realized that yes, this is a problem did he do something remotely responsible. I couldn't enjoy the food! I was upset? Hurting and taken back by the terrible way they handled the situation. For reference, I'll show you the picture with the barrier.

Every dish feels thoughtfully curated with tried-and-true recipes rooted in Chef Luca and his family's Northern Italian traditions. This is the kind of place where quality takes priority over quantity. Our server, Gary, was fantastic. He was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and passionate about Italian food and wine. His recommendations were spot-on and his enthusiasm felt so genuine. We started with a bread basket accompanied by a little sampling of tapenade, which was savory, briny, and a perfect complement to the warm bread. Came in with a group of four, we kicked things off with the burrata starter--a surprisingly fun and shareable adventure of baked burrata, fresh crostini, roasted cauliflower, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and basil cream. There was a lot happening on the plate, but it all worked beautifully together. For our entrées, we ordered the Tartufo, Cinghiale, Bolognese, and Carbonara. And let me just say, the Tartufo was a full-on dinner performance. Gary brought out steaming hot tagliatelle pasta and tossed it tableside inside a giant wheel of Parmesan. He then topped it with crab meat in brown butter before finishing it with a generous shaving of truffle. Every bite was like a perfectly timed symphony of flavors--rich, savory, buttery, and earthy, with nothing outshining the other. I'd put this dish up against anyone's nonna. I sampled the other three entrées as well, and every one was delicious. The gnocchi in the Cinghiale is an absolute must-try--pillowy, texturally delightful, and packed with flavor. Thank you, Nonna Osteria, for such an epic culinary experience. And a special shoutout to Gary for guiding us through the menu and making an already great dinner even better.
