    Crazy Otto's Burgermeat Omelette 8/10

Good food and a good amount of food for the price! It is of course expensive cause of the large portions but it's also good quality in my opinion! I got onion rings and a burger, the onion rings were cooked perfectly, the burger was pretty good and flavorful! I could barely finish just a quarter of it cause it's so big! And they also give you a lot of onion rings! Service is always friendly, they were super fast this time! No complaints! Parking is super easy, lots of booths and regular tables. Very classic diner and good for breakfast and lunch!

I was a good sandwich, but it's a tuna melt or burger or come for breakfast. They have great omelettes. Service was good and I love that. It does look a little bit like a license plate poster collection that food is fairly good.

Service was fantastic. Food was good... some great.. some meh! Best things... Scotty's omelette, onion rings, ranch dressing, gravy for (biscuits and gravy), sourdough toast, and prime rib. The meh was... biscuit (not cooked enough, and batter not well mixed.. tasted chemically), pancake (very plain), chips (very plain.. no salt.. no seasoning at all), chicken salad sandwich (very plain).. waitress warned me.. should have listened. Coffee and iced tea were fine. Just to mention.. the service is spot on.. very attentive. The gravy and onion rings and ranch were phenomenal. I would only go back if in the area. We drove 45 minutes.. since it was highly recommended.

I am working through a list of all diners in LA County so drove up to Crazy Otto's from West LA this past weekend and overall had a good experience. It's located far north in Santa Clarita and is 1 of 3 diners in the area that I have on my list. I know that they are known for giant portion sizes and can confirm this is definitely true. Service was very friendly and everything that we ordered came out pretty fast. It's also quite large on the inside so they have a lot of seating options but no outdoor seating. It's inside a small shopping center so there is a giant free parking lot right out front so parking was very easy. As mentioned the portion sizes here are gigantic! It's a little bit more expensive because of that so just know that you're going to pay a little more but also get a ton of food. They are known for their large omelettes so I knew I had to try one. I ordered the most popular omelette, which is the Crazy Otto's Burgermeat and added avocado to it. However when my food came out it was an omelette but filled with just guacamole. No cheese, protein, or anything else. I told my waitress and she said the kitchen made a mistake so they remade it for me and the second, real, version was absolutely delicious. The green chilies inside really added to the flavor and I would happily order it again. The giant omelette with the giant side of hashbrowns was too much for me to finish so this is the sort of place that you will never leave hungry. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area and if I am ever back up in Santa Clarita, I will certainly give this place another try.

It's was a busy morning at Crazy Otto's Diner. There must have been a school event nearby because the place was packed with families, each featuring at least one cleaned up and fancy dressed child. The waitresses seemed stressed. Nary a greeting nor even a reply when a greeting or kind word was offered to them. We got a table and menus and drinks and ordered breakfast, but they were acting like automatons. Not very welcoming. Our breakfasts were big but completely unseasoned and just okay. Okay, as in just acceptable. The corned beef hash was hash browns with a side of griddled corned beef. Only if you add the words up in a certain way did it become corned beef hash. Biscuits were gummy; the top and bottom tasted good but the middle was unpleasant to eat. The kitchen was quick, though. As the families started to leave the waitresses seemed a bit more relaxed and acted in a normal manner. The stage had been set, however. And then the surprise: a credit card fee even though we paid in cash. Hmmmm. Not a problem... the gratuity got adjusted accordingly. This is a situation where a greedy business owner is putting their employees in a difficult situation, not to mention how it puts customers in an uncomfortable situation too. It must suck to be them. With a full belly, this is definitely a "once and done" kind of place

Had breakfast here last week Friday morning - this is farther than where I'd go for breakfast but we had to go to the area for an errand so why not start the day right. The place is located in a shopping strip mall area so there's a lot of parking. When we went in it felt like I was transported to old America. Kind of diner you'll probably see in old small towns. We sat in a booth and we were given the menus with a lot of choices. I ordered country fried steak with the biscuit and gravy on the side. Hubs ordered spinach omelet. We had coffee for drinks and that gets refilled. We were confused at first because the server giving out the drinks and menus can't take the order - had to wait for another server. Food was served in considerable amount of time - my county fried steak wasn't the best but the serving size was huge, eggs are cooked well over easy on top of the hash browns. Biscuit was soft and warm - gravy was good. Good value for breakfast - big portions. Definitely worth a try when you're in the area.

We always love Crazy Otto's! They are open nice and early. What keeps us coming is the staff and the delicious food. It makes me feel like I'm back home on the East Coast. Everyone is super friendly and the music is always great. It creates a great atmosphere of being in your hometown. Every time we have visited, it's always the same wonderful ambiance. Abba was playing last time! We had the Steak and Eggs, Country-Fried Steak, a flapjack with a side of their Biscuits and Gravy which was just like my father's. I literally shed a tear after my first bite because I haven't tasted that EXACT flavor in over 30 years. The buttermilk biscuits were flaky crusted yet the inside was soft and fluffy. I can't explain how good it tasted because I ended up having a flashback of my father in the kitchen making his delicious gravy. Complete comfort food. Crazy Otto's is a great place to bring the family and enjoy some good family time. It's the ambiance of the restaurant, food and most importantly, the staff that made the entire experience was wonderful.

The Bronco Burrito was soooo delicious that I had to have it two days in a row. Let me explain the flavor experience. When you bite the burrito you taste the crunchy buttery eggs and tots, then the flavor mixes with the sharpness of the cheese, and the savory of the bacon bits incorporates, then, the magic happens. The pickled jalapeño gives an acidic edge that rips right through the other flavors and contrasts and blends stupendously. That really is the magic, which finishes with a sweet creamy after note from the avocado and sauce. Truly a wonderful addition to my Breakfast Burrito Hall of Fame. You're drawn in by the familiar, comfortable design featuring mirrored signs with writing in Victorian style fonts that continue onto the menus. They have marble tables and counters, with comfortable chairs, and lots of light coming in through the windows. The staff is all smiles and very welcoming, happy to help you navigate the very interesting bill of fare, and making sure your cocktail is made exactly as you like. I was dining solo, so I sat at the bar, and James took excellent care of me from start to finish. I asked for a Bombay Sapphire Martini with Olives; James immediately offered regular or blue cheese-stuffed olives, and asked if I preferred the martini shaken or stirred. The drink that emerged was well-balanced, cold and very tasty. The menu is filled with all sorts of interesting choices. Some are familiar items like salads and fishes and hamburgers or cheesesteak sandwiches done in their way -- but my eye immediately went to a very unique starter: Duck Fat Potato Confit. Say what? As James explained, it is a whole potato that has been slow cooked in duck fat (confit, as we know) and served as the main attraction in the dish as one might similarly feature a duck leg or short rib. I had to order this, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding dishes I've eaten in a long time. The aforementioned, slow-cooked potato initially appears a bit like a whole boiled potato, but looks are deceiving. Because of the cooking method, the potato holds it's consistency and shape much more than a boiled or baked potato, cutting almost like a protein. It's solid but tender, and as it has absorbed quite a bit of flavor during the cooking, this potato is far tastier on its own than those other iterations. But you are NOT eating this potato unadorned. Oh no, this potato is dressed with caramelized onions, smoky bacon lardons, wild mushrooms and a rich, very flavorful demi-glace. All together, you've layers upon layers of flavor that make you ignore all distractions and really concentrate on the pleasure you're getting from your food. But that's not all... Perhaps the cleverest element of a dish composed entirely of clever elements is the Mornay Sauce. Snow white, and with enough of just the right cheese to add texture to the Bechemel without becoming too powerful, the sauce is plated on the bottom, with the potato resting atop it. Visually, this looks like mashed potatoes served underneath a protein, and it plays the same role texturally -- but because you wouldn't serve potatoes with a potato, the sauce is a lighter accompaniment, whose flavor marries perfectly with the more complex sauce coming from above, and you cannot help but marvel at this stroke of culinary magic. Just wow. I finished with a dessert of Key Lime Budino, which was rich and creamy with a serious hit of sour from the Key Lime. A nice and refreshing shift after the savory richness of my entree. How lucky are the people of Newhall and Santa Clarita that they have a restaurant making such interesting and excellent food? I come up at least once a month for a music event, and how lucky am I to have discovered this place to eat beforehand? And by the way: if you live in the San Fernando Valley, this place is really less than 30 minutes away (without traffic), so the next time you're thinking of going over the hill to a place in Beverly Hills or Santa Monica, you may want to head North instead. I promise you, The Old Town Junction will become your new favorite.

It was pretty busy for it to be so early. The weight staff was very friendly and very warm and welcoming. Every single person we encountered. We ordered takeout. We had the caveman's platter and the links platter. As sides we had brussels sprouts, mac & cheese, cowboy beans and the plates came with cornbread. I was bummed they did not have collard greens and they did not have potato salad. Apparently collard greens are no longer being served. They've not yet updated their menu. And the potato salad we were advised that a large party had come before us, so there was no more. Which is crazy sad it was only noon and I think they open like at nine or 10 AM. So I kind of felt like we had to resort to what was left and based on how much food we ordered, we had six sides we had to select. Brisket vs Tri Tip- I'm a fatty meat kind of girl. So I definitely preferred the tri-tip. Which had more flavor than the brisket. Now, do not give me wrong by that statement. Because both meats are very good. You can taste that smoke for sure. But the one that you could eat without any sauce would be the tri-tip. The ribs were excellent. The barbecue links were good too. You only get two in the plate and they cut them up in little pieces. But they're good. They weren't overly spicy and they still had some good snap to them. Meats: 9.5/10 The barbecue sauce is a no. It is heavy on the vinegar so bring your own barbecue sauce. The brussels sprouts were I'd say 7/10. They weren't anything too fancy there's kind of like a balsamic on it. They're good but they're not amazing. It could've probably used like some bacon bits or something in it. I don't know. The mac & cheese is a no. It's literally large mushy noodles and watery cheese sauce.. and the cheese sauce is bland. 3/10 The cowboy beans were OK. It's more like a chili for sure. There's a lot going on in them but again they're pretty good. They lean more on the tangy side. When I say tangy, it's probably vinegar and ketchupy if I had to pinpoint the tastes. 6/10. The cornbread is a no. It's more flour based than corn. It falls apart pretty easy. It's kind of dense. At any rate, I'd prefer Jiffy over whatever they're using. 4/10

It's been here for about that long, too, so I am sorry I missed it in the past. This is a family-run place and I am pretty certain the woman who greeted us at the door is one of the owners. We had a reservation and were able to sit at a comfortable booth, as we were a group. The entire time we were there, I was looking around at all the vintage details they have placed in every inch of this place to give you the feeling that you are in a '50s roadside diner. The menu reflects that too. As someone who grew up on the East Coast where diners were on every corner, I appreciated this quick trip down memory lane. The service was very good. We came at an in-between time deliberately because Rte. 66 fills up at the most popular times. When we arrived, entertainment was just wrapping up and it seems they have a variety of talents on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays -- a nice perk. There is a huge parking lot so that's easy. You can sit outside or in, but in is the place to be in my opinion. Our server, Steven, was very helpful. In fact, he apologized that the floor was not spotless because a large group had literally just left and (I am assuming), a bunch of kids made quite a mess (hey parents, where were you?). They tried to tidy up without disturbing us. Everyone working there is super friendly as befits this place. The menu is vast and the food is good. It is very credible diner fare. I cannot remember the music but I think it was on -- we were too busy eating and talking to notice. The tab was very reasonable too. I would not change a thing. This is a genre spot and a very good one. Worth the trip, folks. I am sure we will be back.
