While this particular store has quite a number of name changes throughout the years, I'm ultimately a fan. Convenience wins and since this grocery store is one of the closest located to my family's home, it has gained my loyalty. Lucky has everything you could possibly need to make your meals, gatherings, and celebrations seamless- all for a fee of course. The store is always well stocked and the shelves are organized. Staff isn't openly helpful but refrain from being shy and speak up. The parking lot is massive so there is no shortage of spaces. Shout out to my sister for always grabbing the bakery's cupcakes whenever we have something going on. Not only are these delicious, they are also affordable. read more

They only had 2 lanes open and the people in line had carts full of items, so I went to the self checkout. I'm waiting on line and there's a lady that needs help, but the lady that was supposed to be helping/ working was chatting with someone and not even looking. Finally she came to the register that the lady was having trouble at and points at the screen and almost yelling lol at the screen, look there "check out & pay", it looked like the costumer didn't understand, so the cashier, proceeds to point & yell "check out & pay", each time the customer looked at her, about 3 times. She never just pressed the screen herself just kept yelling. So then I'm passing by and she tells me, "go get in line, you have to many items". I had like 5 extra items because I had 10 individual yogurts. So I had to turn around and get on line. If she doesn't like her job or to TALK to people, why is she working there. Sure was SO RUDE! I Walked in looking for a basket, which for some unknown reason they do not offer-- presumably to Make shoppers grab a cart and purchase more. Literally got yelled at as soon as we entered the store. We went through the entrance and the alarm started shrieking. An employee managing the self-checkout station the proceeded to scream at us for exiting out of the entrance, making a big deal and threatening us by saying that the cameras took a photo of us when we exited the entrance as if that somehow meant we were guilty of a crime. Another kind employee nearby vouched for us and said he watched us enter while the alarm went off incorrectly. He absolutely did not have to stand up for us and we appreciate his kindness, but the other employee continued to berate us loudly, repeatedly telling us not to exit through the entrance and saying the store would have our photos now. Not exactly sure what they're going to do with our photos -- use it to arrest us for entering the store? for not stealing anything? for literally just stepping into the Luckys and having the alarm shriek? While we were in the Luckys, we heard the alarm go off four more times in the span of ten or fifteen minutes. Maybe it's a precaution to deter robberies, but it has so many false alarms and employees are so quick to scream at you for it that it's just deterring customers. I'd probably be grumpy if I had to hear that alarm so often in such a short span of time, but I certainly wouldn't take my frustration on people who didn't deserve it. Awful and unprofessional. This is our go to grocery store. I shop here at least once a week for my family of 5. The service at the deli is great. I often want black forest ham, and when there isn't any out, they don't hesitate to go to the back to get/check for more. The produce associates are also very helpful. They always check in the back if something appears to be out or they let me know when they expect the next shipment for an item. Today, a butcher helped me get some fish from the counter, and asked if I was serving it to my kids that were with me-I said yes and he recommended a different fish because it had no bones. It was very attentive and thoughtful. I have had other experiences with great service from the butcher immediately helping me locate items that I needed. Checking out can be stressful with kids, but the team up front have been great with opening up more registers when needed, and they are always friendly, so we can get out faster. The store doesn't have some specialty items I need, but they always have a variety of the basics and I appreciate the freshness of the produce. read more

They didn't have what I wanted so I went to put my cart away, when I did that the wheels locked automatically and the cart slammed into me, causing such severe bruising that my leg went numb. Someone else saw me get injured and ran into talk to a worker, who came over to tell me not to worry because they could unlock the cart. I explained I was not concerned about the card but then I was injured and they said yes, when you don't buy anything it blocks automatically when you go out the door. Employees watch me go out the door with an empty card so they knew this was going to happen, and no one said anything. When I told them I was not concerned about the cart, but was injured, they said don't worry we'll put the cart away. When I said you this is a lawsuit waiting to happen, they laughed. read more

You never know what goes on in peoples day and you decide to make it worse. Hopefully who ever is her boss gives her a talk and show her how to respect to be respected. I buy True Cod in this store location for many years. Last week the on-sale item "Coho Salmon" was sold out. So I asked a rain check & I redeemed the rain check today. You have wonderful seafood workers (Marcus, Gabriel, Devlin). I checked with them several times as to when Coho Salmon would be in stock. Also when I buy True Cod, I dont buy True Cod in display window & I always ask to buy True Cod from freezer. The workers also honor my request & get True Cod from freezer. Went in for a carpet cleaner, was attended fine and they charged me the price plus as additional $40 to secure it. When we got home it was dirty and used up, we ended up cleaning it before using. Once we were done we cleaned it 2 times and returned 4 hours before the return time. They claimed it was dirty and wouldn't return out $40 even tho we left it cleaner than before they handed it to us. White old lady started making up a bunch of excuses and arguments seemed to just be a regular tactic for her. $100 for a half ass cleaning service. read more

This is one of the few Lucky (*Lucky's with an S is how we typically refer to it*) open in San Jose. It is in a complex that showcases a CVS, Round Table Pizza, Evergreen Panda, KFC, Shell, Lee's Sandwiches, and Pekoe! The store itself isn't very big, so it feels somewhat crowded right when you walk in. The upside is that most of the employees are very helpful and friendly. Since they are surrounded by their competition, it would only make sense for them to prove how they have better customer service than Safeway! Like your standard grocery store, everything is conveniently located and easy to find. Conclusion: Convenient location - Great service - Competitive prices - and very well kept! I've been very happy shopping here. Sometimes the prices are higher, but I almost always find everything I'm looking for, and I've had no problems with any of the employees. The fruits and vegetables are always extremely fresh, and the people working there are very friendly and knowledgeable. Whenever I've asked where something is, they always want to accompany me there and show me exactly where it is, something I haven't seen at other stores. I like going super early to avoid the crowds during COVID, and it's very empty at 6 AM. BONUS - they sharpen knives for free in the meat department now. I dont know what I did to deserve such hateful treatment, I'm generally a quiet person who walks in buys their food without fuss or even bothers with coupons. I came in one day as I usually do to buy food, came up to the register because the self checkout was closed and this quiet unfriendly young Hispanic girl with black glasses rung up my food. No "hello", or "how are you doing", nothing, not that I care, just thought I should note the lack of friendly customer service following her actions. I gave her cash, then she proceeds to get change, took her awhile, like she was looking for something in particular. I noticed she was shifting through the one dollar bills instead of just grabbing what was on top and saw she pulled out a dollar bill with small blue marker stains that bled through from the other side and then she handed me this inbetween other dollar bills. I didn't care nor did I pay any mind to her strange behavior with the money, I just wanted to leave cause I was just off work and it was late. I hadn't notice what was written on the dollar until a week later when I pulled out money to pay for something, for a short time looking at it I was confused and then I thought back to the strange girl who took a long time giving me change. Then I wished I remembered her name and took a moment to look at the dollar bill because a person like this deserves to be fired, it was a deliberate malicious action. Theres always two sides to a story and I assessed my behavior towards her and there was nothing to justify her actions. I said absolutely nothing to her and barely looked at her but only because she wasn't friendly herself. I know that she most likely didn't write on this dollar bill and probably recieved this through another customer. However this is the kind of thing you show your manager and ask them if you should get rid of it, NOT hand it to another customer. Maybe she wanted to keep it and ruin someone's day, who knows. All I know is that she deliberately gave it to me to ruin my day, because she didnt like the way I looked, cause it sure wasnt the way I treated her. It's sad that quality employees dont exist anymore and they're hiring ungrateful, unfriendly, petty children to work at these grocery stores. The number pads on the credit card machines in the self check out area have weird fake covers on them. They almost look like the ones you are warned not to use in tech blogs because they capture card information. On top of that, the machine won't let you run the card as credit. You are forced to put your ATM pin in. When I pointed it out to the guy supervising the area, he snapped at me and said you have to take that up with your bank. What? I have to take what up with my bank? That your wonky machines are the only machines that won't let me run my card as a credit card and you're forcing people to put in their atm number? Had multiple rude interactions with a worker named Sheila. She has given me unnecessary attitude in each of my interactions, and has literally rolled her eyes at us. If she has a problem with helping people then maybe a grocery store is not the job for her. I accidentally brought a gift card purchase into the self-checkout when I was unaware that it was "no gift cards allowed", that was my bad. I offered to go into the other lines, but Sheila just told me "you're not supposed to be doing gift cards here" rudely and rolled her eyes. She then tells me that she "needs to check my receipt after" I finish checking out. I hand her the gift cards and my receipt so she can check like she needed too. I assume that if you need to check my receipt for the gift cards I purchased that you would like to see the gift cards as well. She shoves the gift cards back at me and is like "uhm I can only do one thing at a time". She sees that the receipt says the gift cards were authorized after the purchase and looks at me and says "well it says they are authorized but I can't guarantee it" What is wrong with her?? Are all her sly remarks necessary?? I was literally willing to go through the regular lines if it was SUCH a hassle to click a few buttons on her end. I seldom go to this store but this morning I did to get my mother a bouquet of flowers and a case of water. I used their fastlane #3 to ring up 2 items. I couldn't figure out how to ring up a case of water and when I asked for help, the employee came up and threw my case of water back in my cart with an attitude and said that I should know the code for water. How should I know these codes? She was rude and doesn't have a clue on what a good customer service is. That is probably why I very seldom go to this location. And to my surprise they have really great deals maybe even better than Safeway. I actually went to Safeway one day to buy some salmon n asked one of the workers if it was boneless n he said he didn't know. So I didn't buy the salmon there instead I went to Lucky's to try my LUCK. Their selection of seafood was amazing. N it was all FRESH. MUCH better than Safeway's selection. AND I even asked the butcher if there the salmon was boneless n she said that it was! I had finally found what I was looking for and for a great price too! This rating is for the customer service by one employee and not the entire grocery store as a whole. I live by this Lucky and have been going here before it was even Lucky. Last night at around 7:30-45pm, I stopped by to grab milk for my son. As I approached the milk fridge I slipped right by the kiosk with the bananas. I almost fell. There was an employee (short, petite female with blondish short hair who spoke with an accent) who witnessed it as she was orgnanizing the Hostess donuts and sweets on the shelf. She walked over to check the spot to see if it was wet but it was not but there was a streak mark there that may have caused my boots to slipped. Instead of asking if I was alright, she saidh it was probably my boots as the reason for my slip. She went ahead and explained that the floor was not wet and that maybe it was my boot that was wet. I lifted my feet up and it was dry. She still insisted it was my boots. Really? I wear my boots all day long without falling, then I walk into Lucky and just happen to almost slip and fall on my behind. This staff did not express any concerns but rather tried to blame me instead. I've never experienced this before and I was quite frustrated by her. She needs to have some training on sensitivity and customer service. read more

This is my local grocery store. It is clean and well organized. All the important things are close to the registers, i.e. alcohol and snacks. This place can get busy so you have to know when to go in there. An added benefit is that it is located in a shopping plaza with lots of other good spots so shopping for groceries can be done after doing other things like having sushi and picking up a movie rental. All in all I recommend this place to anyone in and around this neighborhood. read more
